Great video. Helped me replace the starter on my 2006 Acura MDX. I only had to disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine side, and bend it out of the way. Pretty smooth process once you have access to the starter bolts and connectors.
I did put a large rag below the starter area just in case I dropped any nuts, bolts or sockets during the removal process

I used your video to change my starter on my 2005 Acura RL. IT WORKED! 👍😎
This was my first "big repair" i have done myself besides changing my brakepads and oil. Thanks!
I bought a "mechanic toolset" from home depot for 200 bucks, and it had everything I needed to do the job.
The hardest part about this was trying to access the bolt on the bottom of the starter which I was eventually able to do.
I was able to return my old useless starter to Autozone for a 40 dollar cashback. (Sort of like when you replace your battery and get money back for returning your old one to recycle.)
Not too difficult. I was more concerned about damaging the radiator or other wires around than the actual replacement.

Taking off hoses helps a lot but if the hose is frozen on and hard to get off u can just move the hose out of the way while still connected. Its enough room for starter to come out . Preciate the video

Thanks for the video. I was able to change my Acura MDX 2004 starter. I got the same starter from Amazon. 👍

Super helpful. I was able to do it without taking any hoses off at all on my girlfriend's '06 MDX.

How did you unclip the ground connection on the bottom? The video skipped it.

This was very helpful, especially using the heatgun to take the hoses and tie-wrap them to the side. I would recommend using a small mirror to view the lower bolt when installing to ensure that the bracket is well-seated, and a small light aimed at that bolt. When seating the new starter give it a 'jiggle' to ensure the gear teeth mate, and check that the started seats properly before bolting it on.

I just did one without having to disconnect the 2 radiator hoses. Wiggled the starter out between the 2 hoses.

hey, dave. The 2 Radiator hoses on top of the starter, when pulled off. Is there a lot of coolant coming out? And did you need to Drain and refill the coolant after that? I saw another video for starter replacment and that guy never disconnected the hoses in fear of what I am asking you. Thanks

Should also ask, how that starter is holding up. Those TYC , starters did you have to grease the gears a bit more or no before installing it. just straight out of box and installed?

The loss of fluid is minimal. You can also use a hose pinch tool to minimize fluid loss.

Great video, I got the same starter. Boy is it loud and I hear a little grinding at times. How’s your starter holding up?

Fine, return the one you got. Must be bad.

Took out the upper hose only. otherwise, everything was as you said, first its a bit daunting , but it ends up being not so bad.
