Shout out from Florida. Plain language, down to earth advice. Keep them coming.
You started as just a guy with a griddle and haven’t changed. Great video!
Thanks David.
Sold my Blackstone a few years ago because I had to move. Just recently bought a Pit Boss Ultimate griddle and already love it. Definitely a small learning curve with it having the ceramic coated top. Love the video. Great information for everyone.
Johnny, as you know, I've been following you since the beginning. The day griddling feels like a job to me, I'll quit. I find it to be fun, relaxing and gets me out of the kitchen. I'm fortunate that I can cook outside year round in Arizona. Thanks again for all you do for newbies and seasoned cooks alike! Griddle on!
Thanks Mike, and ai agree it should be fun and relaxing. I honestly can't believe I get to do it as a job. I feel so blessed.
Johnny always welcomes questions from beginners and other griddlers. He understands even experienced griddlers can use a reminder sometimes.
Thanks Guy!
Thank you for your sage-like advice and down-to-earth delivery... a true griddle guru! This channel has helped me a great deal.
You're very welcome
Very nicely / sequentially delivered info & not just for noobs!
Just like HS shop class & pro-job sites - safety first, last & always.
Repeat the basics on the regular, define core principles & sequences, etc.
Ya but hopefully no one loses a finger like his shop class lol.
Always enjoy these videos. Johnny is the common man's guide to griddling.
I really appreciate that!
Great video. I respect you for the above and beyond efforts you take for all of us beginners. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you Johnny.
You're very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I have a recommendation for you for flour tortillas. They’re called “Mercado Ready to Cook Flour Tortillas” and they’re available at the nationwide K grocery store chain that’s headquartered in Cincinnati. They’re refrigerated because they’re raw dough that has already been mashed out for you so that all you have to do is grill them. I found them right next to the butter in my store. They’re not as good as scratch made flour tortillas, but they are significantly better than any of the pre-cooked ones sold on the bread aisle. They’re best when cooked with a little oil on the grill even though the cooking instructions say not to use any. Cool video!
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look for them.
I purchased your book because I think you definitely deserve it and I love and need the information in it. Thank you for all you do for this community and for helping me personally better use my griddle.
You're very welcome!! Thank you so much for purchasing the book and supporting me and my family.
You’re a good dude Johnny. Great advice, I hate when people treat people like crap online for asking questions. Thanks for what you do man.
Thanks Travis
great video Johnny, as always. straight, simple advice. It made me chuckle as I've been down that road. Appreciate you sharing your insight and recipes
Thanks so much.
Another great video! First time griddle owner (I'm in the Camp Chef camp). Seasoning and maintenance has come naturally for me as I have cooked on cast iron skillets for years. Prepping on the other hand.... let's just say my first two cooks I was running in and out of the house like crazy for ingredients. For me it is a work in progress and something I continue to work on. Keep up the great work. BTW, your E-book is fanstatic!
Thanks! Ya it took me a while to get organized with prep as well. Thanks so much for purchasing my ebook.
Great advice! I've had some people tell me they bought a griddle to replace their grill and hated it, I try to explain it just a huge frying pan, but then I remember they have said they don't cook much which is the reason they didn't like the griddle.
Ya it's definitely not for everyone.
Ask Johnny anything. He’s down to earth. Even better, he’s a hockey fan. Cheers brother.
Thanks brother!
Johnny, been using a griddle for about 1 year, learned a lot from you and enjoy your video’s! Keep em coming brother! Go Redwings/Lions/ Big Blue!
Thanks so much! Glad I could help.
Excellent job, Johnny! Your definitely a big help and willing to give advice! Cheers 🍺🍺
Probably one of the best videos you have put out. Congratulations
Thanks so much Mike, I really appreciate that.
Nice tips! Can't wait for it to warm up enough to drag the griddle out again. Cheers from Minnesota!
Thanks Drew! We hit 50 in Ohio today! Almost broke out my swim trunks lol.
Thank you, Johnny! This video was loaded with valuable info!!!
prepping is key for sure.. temp is key. awesome video. full of great info.
Hey Johnny, love your channel! Just wanted to throw out there I used Crisco to season my griddle the second time. It’s been better than the blackstone seasoning I bought with the griddle.
Hey man thanks for supporting the channel. That's good to know I've never tried crisco before. I'll give it a go next time.
Awesome!!! Great beginners video! Good job buddy!!
Thanks for watching man!
Great info as always sir. Thank you
You bet
Thank you for all the info you have provided so far for me. Once spring comes around in Illinois I will use your tutoring 👍
You're welcome!
Nice one johnny, your the joe rogan of griddles. Didn't see a beer though, lol.
Ask anything. Johnny is down to earth Great info as always
I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Distracting watching Johnny because I don't see a beer, but good info just the same. Thanks!
Haha I'm trying to take it easy in January. I was going to do dry January but then my football team kept winning games so that went out the window fast lol.
Love the in-garage videos.
Thanks Brian! Gotta do what I can with this cold weather.
I used a torch to get the areas where it doesn't heat up to much to get an even color and coat all the way to the edges
That's a good idea!
Johnny, you offer up some very sage advice here, and I hope people will use that advice to help the through unsure times. Boy, you hit the nail on the head about those d-heads out there that just can’t resist the urge to degrade someone just starting out. Some people just can’t give a simple answer to a legit question.
Anyway, as usual, you are the best, Johnny. Thank you so much.❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️😊
Thanks Greg! And yes degrade is the perfect word. They act like they were never a beginning themselves.
Thank you it’s very stressful but way worth it
It got up to 48 degrees today (WI) and my wife says “you’re making smash burgers” (she didn’t have to twist so hard). Digging the griddle box out of the garage and I notice … olive oil CAN freeze! It’s “oil” right? Yes, it can freeze. 😂
Mine froze too!
Good Vid Brother. I'm on some Facebook groups I joined to get tips, and recipes. But there is nothing but questions about seasoning, and how does my griddle top look? The rude and hateful comments they get is unreal. Sure it's not why I signed on. But we've all been newbies to this griddle thing. I've always loved your welcoming down to earth manner. I think I don't notice much. I just cook. Ignorance is bliss.😅 Good Vid As Usual. Hope all is good with you and yours. Be Blessed 🍻 Shawn
Thanks Shawn. Ya I see the same thing and I definitely understand that a lot of groups are labeled "recipes only". And they usually have something posted in the notes about seasoning and not to ask but people still do it lol. Which I understand why people are tired of seeing it again and again I just don't know why they can't ignore it, that's what blows my mind. It's literally "if you have nothing nice to day, don't say anything at all".
@JohnnyBrunet We live in such a hateful world. A little grace and kindness is hard to find nowadays. So much hatred and intolerance. I'm even finding myself starting to do it. But I just pray that God will protect my heart, & help me to live the Golden Rule. Even if I don't feel like it, or think the other person deserves it. Because he died for me even tho I was far from deserving. My sacrifice is nothing compared to his for me. There's my Friday Sermon. 😆 🤣 😂 keep being you. You're amazing. 🍻 Shawn
As a Napoleon Gas Grill owner, when it comes to seasoning let me give you the git..
Crisco.
Trust me. Smoke point is 490+
(Napoleon is a Canadian gas grill company that competes with Weber. They recommend Crisco in their official manual)
(Napoleon Is vastly superior to Weber)
You see that "Blackstone official seasoning" ?
Crisco.
Trust me.
Can’t wait for your pineapple burger video !!
Thanks! I got excited and posted the recipe but the video is still probably about two weeks out. Just a heads up.
prepping is just essential for all kinds of cooking. so just do it lol. you'll get faster at it eventually and it'll be no big deal. work with a sharp knife and go for it. nothing slows you down more than fighting with you ingredients because you're using a dull knife.
So true, great advice.
I love my Blackstone 🍻 🍻
Cheers 🍻🍻
New subscriber, new to griddles. I won a Blackstone 4 burner back in October, I've put it together, but still haven't cooked on it. I live in Ohio also and just figured I would cover it up until spring. I've been learning a lot from you, thank you. I'm in New Lebanon Ohio, what part are you in?
Congratulations on the new griddle man that's a cool thing to win. I'm in Columbus, born and raised. If you ever have questions I'm happy to help.
@JohnnyBrunet , thank you
You also need someone to hold the door when you carry your tray of food outside 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I'm putting up a now hiring ad in my front yard lol.
@@JohnnyBrunetHow many beers per hour does the job pay? 😁 I’d apply for the job if I didn’t live in the godforsaken south where it’s going to be in the low 80s next week.
Hey Johnny, I'm new to griddling so where did you get that sick king of the hill flag?
Hey man, I got it off of Amazon believe it or not. I was searching for a king of the hill hat and it popped up. I just had to buy it lol.
amzn.to/3PYoJEk
Great video but I feel like it isn't a "Johnny video" without a beer. What happened???
lol I'm tring to take it easy in January, start the year off right. I'll be back at it and in fighting shape come spring for prime griddle and drinking season.
Public spaces on the internet have become ugly places.
They really are but we can't let rude people ruin it for us. The upside still out ways the rude people.
Can’t spell it, can’t pronounce it. I call it worstershirt saahce.
I just bought me the tabletop griddle from Walmart so I can start eating healthier like eggs in hash browns I would like to eat more biscuits and gravy too I need to learn how to make that s*** I eat once a day because I don't know how to eat and I only eat one thing every single time typically be the exact same thing for months until I get tired of it I do not switch up my meals I'll be eating eggs and hash browns for the next 3 to 6 months every day until I get tired of them
