The fact that ghost has white fur just like targaryen's hair, it simply a clue that john not just a stark but also a targaryen in the first show i guess
Foreshadowing bran couldnt fight battles (dead wolf) rickon dead (dead wolf), Sansa couldn't fight in battles (dead wold) GHOST fought all battles alongside Jon/Aegon, nimeria runs away like arya had to but alive nimeria= arya kept fighting. Crazy foreshadowing. Just like ghost returned to his home beyond the wall, I'm still waiting for jon to become the King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm!
When I look at this scene where Jon, like the other stark kids gets a wolf, and the scene where the Brazose swordmaster explains him seeing a cat and just calling it a cat. I think maybe John is just Ned's bastard.
Amazing how Lyana's Stark genes were stronger and he did not have any Targaryn features. He looks a stark through and through. No silver hair which is the defining feature of Targarayn's , no purple eyes (well they haven't shown this part) or even face like Rhagar. On the contarary he looks very much like Ned.
Even more interesting considering how (in the books) most of Ned's kids looked more like his wife - so it can't be argued that Stark genes are stronger.
you’re all missing the point - it’s not that it was a logical decision, or that ned had some hang up about jon being the true king. ned knew what jon was giving up here - any hope of being recognised as a stark. jon literally differentiates himself from the stark house, sigil & the stark children, all because he doesn’t want bran to have his heart broken when theon kills the pups (that’s it’s own foreshadowing to the events of theon’s capture of winterfell). before they find ghost, jon has essentially submitted to being the only stark who doesn’t have a direwolf, which makes him even more of a bastard in the eyes of other people. ned agrees mostly because he knows that all jon wants is to be a stark, yet jon understands that lady stark will never allow him to be a threat to her children, so he accepts that he’ll always be ‘snow’ and never ‘stark’. doing the honourable thing, at the cost of his own greatest desire, is a recurring theme for jon - for instance, later in the show he doesn’t accept stannis’ offer to legitimise him as a stark because he’s made an oath to the night’s watch, and he tells dany about his true parentage once he finds it out rather than plotting against her (more or less). he even kills dany in the show because she’s caused so much death & has become a bloodthirsty ruler, even though he genuinely cares for her. his whole arc, in what’s out of the books, and in the show, is about honour winning out in a struggle with what he truly wants. the whole direwolf scene encapsulates that perfectly - jon pushes away his own desires for recognition in order to do the right thing. the fact that he still gets a wolf, albeit the runt, is demonstrative of the idea that though he’s not a stark in name, he’s one in every other way. ned doesn’t agree out of practicality, but because he’s also a man of unwavering honour who understands what it is to toss aside your own wants in service of what’s good. apologies for the essay but the symbolism & implication is so important to understand why the early seasons were so damn good (that, and having books to go off of).
House Stark could’ve been more badass if they have this kind of tradition where each Stark members poses a direwolf since its their siegil, just like Targaryens with dragons 😅
The 2 Starks that found themselves had the last surviving pups. Nymeria found her own pack and Arya learned how to protect herself before going home and Ghost stayed with Jon Snow who found out the truth about his parents and who he really is.
