    Glad to see your comment on the slid dead ends. Was thinking of trying a few. Glad we didn’t.
    Just picked up 2 sets of the deep pouches. Can’t wait to try them out.
    Another video with good info
    Thanks

      I love my tapping belt. Simple and out of the way. Using hook connectors for splices and hooking to the wire is one fitting that you have to stock rather than a splice and a slide connector for the wire. I’m all about simple

    i`m doing the same thing. doing all my drops this year then i`ll start a rotation system. not a big operation 1300 taps. new ones will get me into white wood hopefully get better sap runs. but depends on mother nature. good vidio lots of work.

    Also, I do have a good vacuum all the way to the end. If I take a tap out, I can hear it and feel it and it doesn’t appear that I have any leaks.

    • @dunnfamilymaple
      @dunnfamilymaple  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      watch you bubbles to find leaks. Adding a vacuum gauge at the end will tell you if you have a leak due to low vacuum

      I will try adding a vacuum gauge tomorrow and give that a shot. So low vacuum would keep it from allowing the tap lines to feed into the main line? I would’ve thought they still would’ve fed in but just slower. Thanks for your help.

    Good video! We got that wind last week with another storm last night hoping our woods did okay, won’t know till this weekend. Heard Maine got hit hard.
    Any future plans for your woods?

      We got beat up pretty bad yesterday. 5” of rain and 60mph winds. The wools looked okay for what we got. I’m still working to improve efficiency in the woods. The big sap ladder should be coming out soon

      @@stateofmainefishing we had one main down with a broken side tie. A few trees on mains with no damage and a bunch of laterals down. I just finished getting it all back together. It could have been a lot worse.

    What’s your thoughts on stubbies & using adapters. I put in 400 last season. I figured I wouldn’t be cutting off taps so I would get more life out of drops plus more efficiency when tapping since I wouldn’t be cutting off & putting on a new tap. Time will tell I guess. Congrats on 1K as well!

    • @dunnfamilymaple
      @dunnfamilymaple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t use them because I only have 1600 taps and speed is not an issue when tapping. If you add a stubby you are spending an extra .30 for each drop to save .03 on taps. You would need to run your drops for 10 years to break even. I change mine every 5 years or less due to age and bacteria. I think the seasonal are a better option.

    Love the videos and have been following for a long time. As my mind shifts to sap season you reminded me of something I was missing. Do you have a link or can you point me in the direction of the saddle bags you have on your belt to hold spiles and gear? I have seen smaller pouches on Amazon but not the larger ones like you carry. Thanks

      H2O leader has them. They are an Udder Tech product. I can get you one if you want?

    Great video so quick question this is my first year using a vacuum system with a sure flow pump. So I have a 3/16 main line in 5/16 lateral lines from the trees. The only two trees that are flowing into the main line other first two. None of the other ones from those two all the way down to the pump will flow into the main line. The lateral lines are full, but they will not go into the main line any suggestion.

    • @dunnfamilymaple
      @dunnfamilymaple  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you using 3/16 main line? that is smaller than 5/16

  • @Bigbass1ful

    greetings from Northern Michigan. Do you fing large mold(bacteria) deposits in main line? Do you remove by splice? Ty Have a great day!

    • @dunnfamilymaple
      @dunnfamilymaple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      not really. If they do form they will exit into the releaser. I don't collet the first bit of sap anyway to flush out the lines

  • @fredA1234
    @fredA1234 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That’s what I saw some other people doing so I just copied it the 3/16 main line is the smaller line, correct. Could that be my problem?

    • @dunnfamilymaple
      @dunnfamilymaple  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3/16 starts to fail after the first year
