My husband and I live off grid in the western US. We've been renovating our place and 60 acres for almost 4 years. Every Sunday evening, we settle in to watch our favorite couple in Portugal chip away at their own projects... It's so nice to sit and eat cheesecake while we watch someone ELSE do roofing work! 😆 Seriously, what you're doing is very impressive and we love you both! ❤
60 acres! ! ? ? I would love 5 to 10 acres, fenced in for the safety of my dogs, and a small, tiny home with an open floor plan. . . And no stairs! 58 and getting younger every year!!
Great video, you two are inspiring! You need a fence, so you make one, want a pool so you adapt one, want to grow food so you build a greenhouse & install raised beds, a sickly pup turns up so you nurse her back to health & make her one of the family, need shade so put an awning on the house & so many other projects too many to mention. Everything you do you finish once you've started & your whole attitude to life is the best, I have respect in bucket loads for you both.

@@LifebyLiving Give it time and you will. There is really NOTHING like it in the world. It's indescribable. During the process it can be so frustrating. Tired like you never knew what tired was, busted knuckles, smashed fingers, almost throwing in the towel, etc..but once it's all complete and you get to live in that completed project/dream on a daily basis, then the constant amazement and euphoria sets in and it's the most alive I've ever felt. You just keep realizing you actually pulled it off, when you never thought it would ever happen. There really is nothing like that feeling.
I was here for your very first video. I like absolutely everything about you and Victoria but, for personal reasons, what I appreciate the most by far is how happy Ted and Poppy are. You're beautiful human beings ♥
I still cannot get over how great the roof looks, it was amazing that you did it all yourselves. I remember how much work was involved in making the gravel track. Endless trips with a wheelbarrow. And the most labour intensive job of all, putting the world's most complicated greenhouse together. Great work Ricky and Victoria, plus Teddy and Poppy who were happy to observe and supervise at every step of the way.

Yes, upon a time.. There were trade schools, until they were practically defunded (and everyone told to get a university education instead). We don't seem to have learned this: there is a middle way.

Maybe a Visit would be Good as we are also finding a permanent Retirement Place. For me... Perfect place for me is having a River, or Lake, or or Stream of Water within my Retirement Place, since I grew up close to a Water.... Regarding your pool/hottub. What would of done is, have a woodburner outside of your pool, with the chimney going through and out the other side. That way it'll heat the water in the pool...... free hottub! Enjoy 😉 😊😊

You guys are incredible. I can't even climb stairs without getting vertigo... I just don't do stairs. I am shaking with horror as you are working on that roof, even climbing the scaffolding inside to get it set up. Compliments on your hard work, wonderful creativity, and bravery. Love what you are doing, just have a hard time looking at you working on that roof. Ahhhhhh!! Scarey! If I tried this with my ex 5 years later, he'd still be talking about what he's going to do, shining his tools to get ready, and looking at his reflection in the shining tools... and STILL nothing would be accomplished. All talk, no do. In the UK we're different, we do what we promise!

Regarding your pool/hottub. What would of done is, have a woodburner outside of your pool, with the chimney going through and out the other side. That way it'll heat the water in the pool...... free hottub! Enjoy 😉 😊😊

You guys are incredible. I can't even climb stairs without getting vertigo... I just don't do stairs. I am shaking with horror as you are working on that roof, even climbing the scaffolding inside to get it set up. Compliments on your hard work, wonderful creativity, and bravery. Love what you are doing, just have a hard time looking at you working on that roof. Ahhhhhh!! Scarey! If I tried this with my ex 5 years later, he'd still be talking about what he's going to do, shining his tools to get ready, and looking at his reflection in the shining tools... and STILL nothing would be accomplished. All talk, no do. In the UK we're different, we do what we promise!
