We literally learned this in the parking lot like a few hours before the battle. We were having fun and entertaining the crowd there. A large portion of the spectators at these DCI events in downtown Indy are people that are unfamiliar with Drumcorps, and this was a great way to turn people on to the activity. Yeah, it was dirty, but cleanliness wasnt the point of this one. There are plenty of clean videos of us from that year on youtube, so go ahead and watch those, but take this event for what it was meant to be. Hype for DCI and to entertain potential Drumcorps enthusiasts.

Jersey won the 1st round. Bdb did a lot of movement where people were not drumming. They were not as tight. The second round jersey was consistent to the first round. Bdb tighten up and had much more complicated in the their drumming. I was the best of the rounds. If you would put all of the rounds together Jersey because of their rounds were longer and more complicated movement while moving.

Honestly, the way that I've always seen the Blue Devils is they pay more attention to showmanship...rather than being completely focused on precision and uniformity. I think this is a good example of that.
The reason why the blue devils b win is because they kept everything original, had perfect timing, and still kept going even if one person lost a drum stick, and they exactly what to do, unlike the surf, I'm giving my honest pro musician opinion/thought.
They didn't do it for skill they did it to get a laugh, you heard the guy in the crowd yell "Sike", Talk about doing it poorly when BD B is dirty and stick heights are all over.
I honestly think Jersey was better, coming from a bluedevils fan. BlueDevils werent exciting until the second part, while Jersey was fun to watch overall. But both did very well! Hype was immense for BD second round

Jim Edwards the first segment blue devils b played was a show segment the rest was blue devils entertainment stuff that none of them have ever played before. Its more about hype and movement in drumline battle. You honestly cant tell me that E-sarn drumline from thailand won from being clean... or genesis beating the crossmen.. even so blue devils b has harder book than surf does.. I wish it was based off cleanliness but it doesnt seem to be that way.

Theres a difference between drumlines who ram notes at 15 inches 90% of the time and run around like crazy people, than a group that has much better defined heights and overall musicality. Jersey Surf defiantly takes this one for the better drumline no question. Blue Devils were loud and pretty obnoxious as well as a pain to listen too.....but im sure this all relates back to the whole west coast east coast thing.....lets go east.
