Incorrect. You have increased the actually overall tyre size as well and no just the width. The middle value is a percentage of the first value, original tyre 175/65/R15, 175 is in mm and is the width of the tyre, 65 is the sidewall height as a %. 65% of 175 is equal to 113.75mm , in the case of 185/65/R15, 65% of 185 is 120.25mm. The side wall has increased in height by 6.5mm, which is just over 0.5cm so you're alright, it doesn't impact you much. But if you don't pay attention to the second figure being a % of the first, you will change the height of the tyre, hence your speedometer will read incorrectly. In your case the effect is not much. You can use this website to calculate: tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/. According to the website calculation, the size of the tyre 185 vs 175 is 2.1% larger. 185/60/R15 would be a better tyre size (-1.3%, i.e smaller than 175 tyre) as the 65% of 175 is 113.75mm and 60% of 185 is 111mm which are much closer. I'd also disagree that the 185/65/R15 has a better high speed stability, smaller profile tyre, i.e smaller side wall than original mean less rolling in the corners and better handling over all as a trade of with ride harshness.
Most manufacturers put slim tyres for better Fuel Efficiency, however minor increase of width is recommended. For example 175/65 R14 may be upgraded to 185/60 R14 for better grip.

You can, if it's company recommends 195/55 R16 (usually in top end) and is written in the user manual than definitely you can switch the tyre and upsize even blindly. Go for it, however you will notice drop of mileage and speedo may show +/- 4 to 5 km/hr in acceleration.

You should go for 205/55 R15 (if rim is R14) or R16 (if rim is R15).

Could you please suggest the best tyre size, also do I need change the rim? The higher variant if kia carens comes with 205/65 R16. Can simply switch to this size, do I still need to change the rim?

i have purchased honda amaze smt and asked the dealer to replace only the plastic rim with alloy rim to upsize the wheel circumference.. amaze SMT have 175/65/14 AND amaze VX have 175/65/15. But my dealer told me that total wheel (rim with tyre) will be changed. I could not understand that in both SMT and VX tyre 175/65 is same only rim size is changed. so why we cant replace the only rim to upsize the wheel circumference. pl help me is it possible to change only rim to increase the circumference of the wheel.

I am using skoda superb iska company fitted tyre size 205 55 r 16 hai but maine front k two tyre 205 60 r 16 dalwa diye hai.. Kya isse koi impact hoga.. After changing the tyre of my car is steering bubbling i take speed more than 80kmph. And steering shaking is too much. So is it because of tyre size up or something else. What if i take oroginal company fitted tyre size for front and and back side i replace my front tyre 205 60 r16. I mean in front company fitted tyre size 205 55 r16 and back aide 205 60 r16. Will that be ok. Please advise...
