Chainsaw milling is a lot of fun and I do it as a side job. Next time set up your ladder hang it off the starting end of you log a bit more so you can start your cut easier. It's also a good idea to always use a ladder each cut to help keep each cut as even as possible. Make sure you hold the mill down to the ladder or trees surface to get a consistent thickness of board as well. Get the knowledge needed of how to sharpen your chain properly to give you cleaner faster cuts. Happy milling 👍👍👍👍

I am curious on the FIRST log, how many times did you need to sharpen the chain?

Thank you for the comment Steve. Didn’t sharpen it all the way through, kept its edge all the way through 👍🏼

I plan on giving this a shot with my 80V kobalt chainsaw. Wasn't sure if I should try one of the Amazon mills, but I think it's worth a shot now

Use the on/off bar on the mill for starting and ending your cuts. It is the bar between the front and rear bar on the mill. You want to have it parallel to your cut not pointing up or down when starting. Also do not twist the mill from side to side, slow steady even pressure makes a smooth cut. Practice and pay attention to what you are doing. Very good for your first try though. Good on you to recognize the need to cool the saw down.

Bucket of water or garden hose will help you inspect the boards

Does anyone know if the Husqvarna 455 rancher is good enough for milling?

    • @longfellow5276
      @longfellow5276 ปีที่แล้ว

Sure . Probably only for 12 wide stuff though.

Leave your straight edge on for every cut, otherwise you compound any errors with every slab, get a straight edge with enough overhang for the width of your mill at either end of the log you're cutting to keep it flush at the start and end of the slab. Make sure your rails on the mill are hard down to your straight edge front and back and both sides otherwise you'll get a twisted, uneven slab. Happy cutting, you'll learn heaps just by looking at your process in review and the boards you finish with.

James knock your rakers down. I know it's harder on the saw. But just go slow. 👍

trago a roça bem plantada pra servir o meu país
enquanto alguns fazem guerra trazendo o fome e tristeza
