Very good educational video. Setting up a fish finder is almost like a Preamp/processor for a guitar rig. Of course, the power amp would be set at 11. I'm still about 2 yrs away from a side scan. Debating on a better finder or a wood lathe and bandsaw.
@wendellfishing Yeah, I've been wanting a wood lathe for a while. My workbench area is a mess and tools scattered. After the enclosed front porch deck man cave is complete ( 97% done) I'll have the garage organized so I can make stuff. I suck working on cars so almost all of my tools are wood related
😮so for the Garmin which transducer are you running the 54 or 56? With the 56 I do not have to mess with settings to much but with the 54 I did....just curious...thanks for the tips!
@@wendellfishing If I set my cone to minimum radius on down scan I can pick up crawdads in the rocks....on the 54 I cannot....like in 10' or less of water....but still fun to be able to pick up that bait...
@@wendellfishing about 4" sometimes bigger but most are in the three to 4" range and they are about 2" round....it is pretty neat when I pick the up coming out of rocks.
Sounds like good advice, but what do you do if you are on a kayak and can not get those speeds you are talking about. Does it matter if you are moving slow. Is a fish finder useless at this point
Thanks for the excellent video. I just bought the Garman Striker 4 backpack setup for my Hobie Passport 10.5. I plan to map the 6 acre abandoned quarry pond that i back up to.

Thank you for the great information even though I will probably never have one but did like learning about them
Right on!

Better finder vs wood lathe :)

@ryanfuller9710 how big are your crawdads… dang!

It still works.. you are just not going to be able to get the crisp clear image you are likely going for. 1MPH in a kayak is not crazy fast.
Ok great thank you for the advice
