This man is an amazing musician with one of the best voices in the business. He has battled so many personal demons and challenges that would take most mortals out, that being said he is an iconic legend.
I honestly don't think he would consider them demons, though they later may have grown into them. They were as part of his makeup and creative process as another person's coffee and cigarettes. Hard for the layman to accept, I realize
I saw him play at the Capital Theater in Port Chester NY in May of 1970. He was alone, sitting on a metal folding chair. Dungarees, sandals and a green pocket tee shirt. He was incredible and a much better guitar player than I expected.
I saw James Taylor in November 1970 at the Berkeley Community Theater. He wore the same sweater, sat down and turned the theater into his living room! This concert takes me right back there again!!!
I think this is perfect. His story going into it is awesome. I love how he turns it into a funny thing. It takes the pressure off him messing up the guitar part a little bit. It's perfect showmanship. He was so ahead of everyone else on the guitar I believe. He could write a song lyrics and music in 10 to 15 minutes. Yes it wasn't refined and perfect but he had the basis of a perfect song in 15 minutes. Then him and his musician friends could critique it and perfect it. Within 2 hours, there's a song. A master at his craft. He must of ate, slept. And breathed a guitar
I wore out cd's; flag, many others and this past mothers day one of my sons brought me untitiled album but starts with Something in the way she moves on vinyl - I cried.I know all the songs by heart. God love you, I am not the only one who still loves him !
Parents hated it it has cuss words. I love James many moon I saw him in Phx in person for my 55th birthday. I couldnt get an autograph because I could not stand up that long. He signed autograph his WHOLE break. No one else like him !!!!
@@donnaj.1634 My grandkids think the same when I get going to these little ditty,s by MR TAYLOR, I,m teaching them about all the great music we had through the 60, 70, and JT is a massive part of my life,s music,ly , so my friend just remember we,v all been there. PEACE BE WITH YOU MY FRIEND.✌️✌️✌️😎😎😎🏴🏴🏴🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Awesome video. I have the album where his version of steam roller blues has a line that includes … a Chicken that’s Chock’in, on some MF* ing blues 😂🤣🥳 👍👍👍 JT is piece of the Fabric of my Life.. Cheers from SoCal. Matthew 63yo and going strong. 🤘
I saw James in concert about 3 months after this video . It’s as if my memory is playing out when I watch this! I’ve seen him a total of 6 times, he’s the best singer, songwriter, musician there ever was!!!! Thank You 🙏 James!!!!🎸🎼✌🏼❤️✌🏼❤️😀
I have always wondered about the origins of this most excellent tune!! I had an old monster Norton motor cycle and nicknamed it the ' Heafty Hunk of Steamin Junk ' ! Thanks James!!! Love ya! Blue Skies!
Man alive...mm,mm,mm I’ve seen you perform this live twice in my life and both performances were amazing however THIS performance is nuanced and adorable and filled with “you-ness” (new word). Thanks for sharing you.
Love the creative nature if this song, the wit and humor of James Taylor fused with a legit blues tune, and made perfect by his imitations , his limitations and his humility , while still trying to be the funky one. I sing this song all the time , as well as that blues that grows in the backyard of my soul.
I like all these songs just like this. Later in his career he added a full band and they weren't the same. Still good but there's nothing like him and his guitar, alone, and hearing the sound of every note. He is a genius with words and his playing is amazing. Always loved him.
Well, other than Sweet Baby James, of course. As a fellow James, that was my lullaby as a baby. My parents neighbor who.played guitar played it for me at my first couple birthdays in 89,90, and 91.
I wasnt been to 1st grade school that year `70, when it came a hit.. only when i reach High school that i loved this song at 1978. what a great he was then..
James can become anything. Country Western, pop, and then effortlessly slip into The Blues. All the while making fun of what he’s doing. One of the all time great blues songs written for fun.
He is so freakin' handsome and charismatic here, I believe I swooned.
No auto tune. No computer sounds. No timing software. Just a man and a guitar. Real raw absolute talent. James Taylor is one of the all time greats.
Well, he does cheat with that capo...
Absoultey! 🎶🎶
@@CoCotheTurtle If a capo is cheating then I guess most guit-artists are cheaters
You said it
Thank goodness we have you tube otherwise, my record got warped in the sun.
In his early 20s, James Taylor is a better guitar player than me if I was in my mid 500s!!! Wow!!! Thanks James for sharing your joyous gift!!!
at least you made it to 500

A churning urn of burning funk.
Yeah, like who could make this stuff up??? Choinin oin of boinin fuuunk.

There's a reason why the greats are the greats. Superb.
So cute to see him so young & innocent. Who knew he was also a comedic genius?
Mitch Hedberg was influenced by him?
Seen him a zillion times over the last 45 years or so…this has always been been my fave (don’t ask me about the next one) thanks for posting
I like how he is friendly when associating and describing others, while still pass jokes for them. That is an art that should be taught today.
Best childhood memory. Thank you Baby James.
I saw James Taylor in November 1970 at the Berkeley Community Theater. He wore the same sweater, sat down and turned the theater into his living room! This concert takes me right back there again!!!
Hilarious!🤣🤣🤣 He doesn't take himself too seriously. 👍😊 One of my favorite James Taylor songs!👍🥰👏👏👏
Excellent James
Woah! Loving this live - finest voice and humor, 50 years erased in one song, And - that sweater!

First you say "I think this is perfect", then you say "it wasn't refined and perfect". So, basically, you contradicted yourself.
Did he have the golden voice, or what? Just a natural singer and musician.
I just love the blues!!
MISTER TAYLOR GETTING ON DOWN WITH THE BLUES, OOO YEAH. PEACE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S.✌️😎🏴
I remember playing this album to death when it came out . Stole my little teen-aged heart.
Why did it take me until 2022 to hear this.. wow 😳 i love it
Please explain to me why I adore him, his songwriting, and playing so much. It's been over three decades and I still adore his voice and style.
