    Story 1 - When OP said that things had been moved and gone missing from their home, I had a feeling that it was the MIL who was responsible. I also have a sinking feeling that she took OP’s cat to be put down out of pure spite. All in all that MIL is a freak’n psychopath! I hope that her husband severed all ties with her, and that they’re both safe and that he and OP filed a restraining order against MIL.

      MIL was a witch from day 1, but OP still asked her to watch her cat? How could OP talk about the awful things MIL did and said to her and about her and then turn around and ask MIL to tend to her beloved cat? Steal my property, verbally abuse me and slander me, and then I ask her to watch my cat? How many loose screws do I have?

    2nd story: Husband should take action against his employer, even if it means receptionist and/or HR reps get fired! There was a restraining order, so giving out the information was breaking the law.

    • @5PctJuice
      @5PctJuice 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +74

      I'm willing to bet at least part of the HR meeting he was called into happened precisely because the company knew they fucked up and wanted to know what they needed to do for him not to pursue further action.

    • @foogod4237
      @foogod4237 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      That's not how restraining orders work, at all. It was not against the law in any way for them to give out that information (though it was likely against company policy).
      There's just no case there to "take action" over to begin with. Not disclosing the information was a _courtesy_ that most companies would provide because it's just clearly a good thing to do (for a variety of reasons), but they have *absolutely no legal obligation* to do it, and even if they did, this case was clearly a mistake made by the individual employee (who will likely be facing some disciplinary action for the lapse), not actually the company's fault.

    • @Keraed
      @Keraed 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

      @@foogod4237you’re right. There’s not a law where a company cannot give personal information out in the event of a restraining order. And considering it was sent to the work number and his home details/number wasn’t given out there’s probably little in regards to a company policy violation. BUT that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be backlash to their actions. Fair chance a court wouldn’t look favorable on an employer who was aware of a restraining order and attempted murder against an employee (or in this case employees child) who willing gives the said person the company contact information for the employee. It’s more a civil suit sorta deal but HR would definitely not want to be in the news for releasing information of an employee to someone who they KNEW was supposed to be as far away as possible after trying to murder the employees kid (yes that was attempted murder). Way too much bad press

    • @mizu7662
      @mizu7662 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      I mean, assuming OP was being literal, the receptionist hadn't been told about the situation. So I don't see why they would get in trouble instead of whoever it was in HR that dropped the ball and didn't place a note on that employees file saying his info was not to be shared because he was hiding from a crazy old bat that tried to kill his kid.

    • @5PctJuice
      @5PctJuice 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      @@mizu7662 Yeah, I don't think the receptionist should necessarily draw fire if it was HR's fault for not making sure everyone knew. Knowing how most companies work, the receptionist was probably the only one who got in trouble anyway.

      lots of layers to why this crap is spreading but one part of it is manipulation tactics. online grifters that spread such misinformation with sensationalistic bs.
      the type of people that end up falling for it are then being taken advantage of by the grifters who spread these lies, taking advantage of people like that clearly being not the brightest bunch. thats how they make money out of stupid people.

    OMG, that MIL Karen. I have a granddaughter, my oldest (and third grandchild of 9) who was born with SEVERE allergies to tree nuts. Peanuts are legumes and are fine, but anything like pecans, cashews, walnuts, or even the acorns off the oak trees here are poison. The school knew, they had an Epi pen for her. I have two here for emergencies. We didn't understand why she got sick a lot and had eczema constantly in the fall until I realized the oak tree outside of their apartment was dropping acorns and then people drove over then when they went through the parking lot. They finally moved to a house and there are no oaks around. Kid's eczema has cleared up completely. She was able to tell people she had the allergy when she was 5 and wouldn't eat anything if she knew (or saw) nuts in it. She's now in college and teaching in a daycare to earn tuition money. And she knows at least three kids in the school with allergies and she's very careful because she knows how it feels.
    I'm afraid that I would have been in jail for both of the mother-in-laws in this edition of Darkfluff. Screw with my family, try to harm us, and there will be some serious consequences.

Her BF drives her to my house where my GF (her best friend) is a nurse and could tell something was wrong. Well, since I'd been friends with her for so many years, she grabbed onto me for support and basically laid her head on my stomach. Her BF was not happy but I didn't care. There was nothing intimate going on between us, but for some reason she just wanted me for support because she was scared out of her mind. Let's just say her BF didn't last for very long. And even if the child hadn’t been saved, it still would have only been manslaughter paired with the reckless endangerment charge. Story 2 is the worst case scenario I imagined my mil pulling. (She's gotten close with a few different situations. )
    So, there was a Thanksgiving fight where grandpa and grandma insulted me in front of my son and niece. We couldn't leave until mil brought us home because our car was broken down.
    Hardest thing after that was telling my son through tears that the grandparents he loved said something really hurtful, what it meant, and why it made mommy cry when she got home. He was 4. We don't make an effort to see them any more than necessary, and nothing will be necessary enough they will be my ride ever again. Not even Christmas.
    The parents were told right, though. The kid has to know that they weren't just mysteriously getting sick. Someone they loved did it to them, and that's why they can't spend time like before. It's not easy, especially when the pair has a close bond.
    I am waiting for my in-laws next blow up about how I no longer make eye contact with them. Hard to explain to a narcissist how decades of trauma from people screaming insults at me would leave me vulnerable to being traumatized by peoplescreaming insults at me. And they were aware of my history. We had known each other for over a decade by the incident and had those conversations around campfires...but again, narcissists.
    I hope I can call them that then. Hopefully the truth cuts enough that they change. But they are narcissists, so I don't expect much. Boomers, too. Wish me luck!

Turns out that in the 18 months it had been available, 11 other people had come down with SJS, but she was the first to survive. Her lawsuit was the reason SJS was added to the list of possible side effects. She still has issues with dry eyes and scars on her body from the amount of skin she lost. I tell new doctors that I might have inherited that allergy, since I’ve discovered while researching the topic that there is a one in three chance that I have.

      @@djrosette It’s Stevens Johnson Syndrome. It can be (and most frequently is) an allergic reaction, usually to medication, but it can also arise from an unknown source. It is a dermatological condition shown in skin loss, hair loss, eyes can become badly affected to the point of permanent blindness (warning: graphic medical description ahead-when I mentioned the family history to my optometrist, he gave me a horrified look because he had seen only one case in his long career, a young boy in the hospital, and he said that poor kid’s eyes had liquified), up to and including death. The condition is rated on a scale of the amount of damage to the body-I forget what the most minor level is called, SJS is given to the moderate level, and TENS is given to the most severe level. My mother’s current doctor, when looking at her medical history and hearing what she had to say about her bout, thinks that she would be rated as TENS instead of SJS if she got sick today. She had skin loss over 50% of her body, lost just about all of her hair, and spent nearly a month in the burn ward of one of Chicago’s best hospitals since it is such a rare condition and was even rarer in the late ‘70s. There is no way to cure SJS/TENS, all you can do is give palliative care for the symptoms.
      I gave a presentation on it for a library school class on health reference since I have that connection with it. I warned my classmates before I showed pictures of patients, but even so, their reactions were extremely distressed. So, the same word of warning to anyone who might want to research it themselves.

Typical that she started leaving passive aggressive messages to op because she blames op for her son now having a strained relationship with her despite everything she's done.
    Last update, not surprised that she broke into the house to trash it. She couldn't stand that op blocked her and her son ignoring her so she tried to get "revenge", specially on op. She only proved how psycho she gets when she doesn't get her way, which is op gone. Fil is no better for just immediately bailing her out despite everything she's done, definitely cut him as well, since he just wants to enable her. Definitely not surprised that she now stays away from them after she got arrested. Both of the mother-in-laws in these stories needs to be committed. I doubt either of them could maintain a sane facade long enough in front of a psychologist to avoid it.

    With a nutcase like the MIL from story 1, might be a good idea to put multiple locks on every external door, at least 3, from 3 different brands, that way, she gets her hands on one key, she still ain't getting in, and putting a secondary barrier on any windows (or make sure the windows ain't glass), along with dual locking mechanisms, if possible

    Allergies: Many (narcissistic) people don't believe anything they themselves haven't experienced and are so sure they're right about everything that they cannot be dissuaded. In my old section at work, two out of 12 of us had diabetes, but our supervisor, who had a master's degree in biochemistry, had never had symptoms of hypoglycemia so did NOT believe it existed, and resisted allowing any accommodations for it. One day we had a doctor (a forensic pathologist, no less, visit our section for the day. When we all went out to lunch, my supervisor announced publicly, "Well, OP, we've got you now! Doctor, is it true that diabetics get hypoglycemia so bad they can't function normally?" The doctor just looked at him like something that just crawled out from under a rock and said, "Absolutely! Then they have seizures or pass out, THEN THEY DIE!!" The supervisor never stood in the way of our needs after that, but looked pissed each time until he was eventually removed to a position where he didn't work with, or supervise, anyone! When he retired, only myself and one employee of a different section (out of a 60-person division) attended his retirement party....

    A friends mother-in-law was horrible to her for over 4 years, her son always made an excuse for his mother until we had an intervention and told him ALL of the things his mom did to our friend. But then 2 years after the intervention that really didn't change anything (plus she got along great with fil and 2 sil and 1 bil) she got pregnant, 9 months later our friend has come home from the hospital with her baby and her mil goes to reach for the baby and our friend said, "betcha wish you treated me a lot better now, because NO, you can't hold her. And fil, sil's and bil and their husband and wives laughting out-loud". The other il's got treated a bit better but not much. She only got to see the baby but never hold her, and she was never allowed to babysit. When she ask her son he told her she did it to herself and sided with our friend. We were shocked. It's 18 years later and their 3 kids know exactly what grandmother is about and don't want to see her much.

    I feel so bad for these families with crazy MILs. My MIL was one of the kindest, funniest, most generous people I knew. (My own mother was abusive.) She always made me feel welcome. I loved my MIL and miss her as she has since passed. But she was very much loved. It's a shame that everyone can't have that experience. That last story, they might have a case for stalking if she's trying to find them after they have moved.

    First story: I suspect that MIL didn't just accidentally "let the cat out". Cats usually come back home if they are okay. She took it somewhere, and I wouldn't even be surprised if she had killed it somehow.

    In regards to the allergy post. My daughter has coeliac disease. When she was diagnosed she was 11/12. She went on visitations with her father (my ex,) and he refused to believe anything i said, even with supporting hospital/doctor information/documentation. He continued to give her gluten, she would go there for a weekend every 2 weeks and would continually come home sick. Courts took no notice of the fact she was allergic, and was constantly sick after visitations, telling me what goes on in his house and how he feeds our daughter, was his business. I suppose if a governmental institution, can disregard an allergy issue, anybody can.

    Concerning story #1, I would've told MiL that the ex-girlfriend was dumped because she wanted "daddy" (aka FiL).
    Concerning story #2, I can tell Mil ALL about allergies (I have *several* severe allergies that I grew up with, including dogs [not cats].) MiL could've been charged with attempted murder! She got off lightly!

    Anyone ever notice how narcissists hate cats? I think because they can't be controlled or made to like you. You have to be genuine with cats and let them come to you.

    Story 1: her "end goal" was to have the final say in everything as a position of power (a mother) and try and control her son (by proxy OP)'s lives and doing it, in that creepy controlling behavior, like moving and rearranging furniture, or getting rid of things she either doesn't like or doesn't think are necessary, or put up "the forbidden sign"

    Allergies can be very serious. I learned that the hard way when I woke up one night with a full body rash. Not sure what caused it to this day, just that I spent two weeks with the feeling of my skin being lit on fire almost every day before I could see a doctor who could prescribe me some allergy meds to get rid of the rashes. I still take them to this day.
    Bottom line, allergies are real, scary and can strike without warning. MIL should've spent the rest of her life in jail for what she pulled.

    The horrific part of Story 2 is that the District Attorney, Police, & Court failed a little child by not filing charges of Premeditated Attempted Unalivement against Crazy Granny. Then they allow her to continue walking thru the Restraining Order & Not Charging her with Stalking!! Are they all waiting until she either unalives the child or someone else or kidnaps the child before taking this Lunatic's threat seriously?! OP & Hubby need to press for harsher charges & possibly even changing companies & even countries to protect their kiddos!!
