      FROY Most European and Indian languages come from the one language spoken thousands of years ago: Proto Indo-European. It’s descendants include the ancient of Sanskrit, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Old Norse just to name a few. Each of these branch into the new languages of today like Hindi, Spanish, Norwegian, Russian, and many many more. It’s one of the single largest language groups. However, it’s still barely a fraction of the worlds languages coming in at about 3000 recorded langs. Latin only has about 6 major descendants.
      Also, science has come to a widely accepted theory that humans originated in Africa based on genetic diversity, the fossil record, and similarities of humans to African apes. The theory goes that most humans were dark skinned, but when they moved to Europe the cloud cover made it so they did not need the extra melanin (what makes skin dark) to protect us from UV radiation. Eventually, European skin lightened.
      There are also many large language families that rival the number of descended languages both in number and in speakers. Niger-Congo in Africa, Sino-Tibetan in Asia, Afro-Asiatic in North Africa/the Middle East, etc.

    • @JulesThePsion
      @JulesThePsion 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @FROY Latin ONLY sired the modern Romance languages, which are a tiny fraction of the world's labguages. Even the majority of languages spoken in Europe don't trace their lineage back to Vulgar Latin. For example, English, Greek, German, Russian, Hungarian, Finish, Turkish, Albanian, Polish... Need I go on? Genetically, NONE of these languages have ANYTHING to do with Latin-- nevermind Yoruba, which I believe is a member of the Niger-Congo language family. Don't be so Eurocentric.

      I'm here because if we don't seek knowledge of who we are, we will cease to exist as our true and indigenous selves....the last election revealed that with with upward of 12% of Black males voting for a semblance of a leader with not one but two consent agreements for housing discrimination against Negroes and declaring Blacks are INHERENTLY LAZY through no fault of their Own...the most racist thing one could say about the lineage of a people and curse their God

    I cheated, since my parents were too busy to teach me Yoruba, I made it a point of duty and a promise to myself to date only Yoruba girls/women from the age of 17. I am now married to a beautiful Yoruba woman whose first tongue is Yoruba for 9 years.
    Our first rule was to always speak Yoruba at home. Very steep learning curve but within 2 years I now speak Yoruba, ok, not fluently, not eloquently because of the westernized tongue but I can't be mugged off with the language anymore. Our two kids now understand and speak Yoruba, yes with English accent, but it's ok, it's better than nothing.
    For the newbies, don't be discouraged by the mockery or piss taking by the fluent Yoruba speakers. Relatives are the worst, they laughed and mock my attempts. They'll tend to roll over laughing because of the accent, roll with it, it's all love. You'll eventually get there.

      PLEASE don't rely on those Yoruba movies for learning Yoruba. They're very watered down and OFTEN wrongly translated. Yoruba movies can be an aid to learning. But I highly recommend the older movies instead. Movies like Toluwanile, Oleku, Saworo Ide are all classics and have the most authentic Yoruba.

      are you saying Korean is similar to Yoruba ?

    • @omggiiirl2077
      @omggiiirl2077 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@mediaiweb okay so in Korean language there is no actual word for hello. The phrase anyeong haseyo 안녕하세요 Literally means be at peace, not hello or greetings. Also there is also honorifics in Korean as well you speak to the King, to a Priest/pastor, or Monk, your parents or elders, or superior, equals and subordinates, servants/(in the medeval period) slaves, and children. All of them have a certain way to address each class or status of person. So you could address your daughter without honorific, but say in the feudal age she became the queen you would have to address her as your superior and queen under threat of death. Sams with royal children they didnt address the King as father, or your highness, but a royal honorific for saying father. Then there's the good bye. If you are staying you would say anyonghigasaeyo 안녕히가세요, Literally meaning go in peace. Not good bye. And if you are the one that leaves you say anyeonghigaesaeyo 안녕히계세요 meaning I will go in peace. Theres also the fact that both cultures love soup! And pay respect to elders by bowing or prostration. I also notice that Nigerians live spicy food, and fish and fishy shrimpy taste, and Koreans appreate those flavors as well. I also noticed that in Nigeria there are a few fermented types of locust beans and Korea has a few types of fermented soybeans. Theres a lot of similarities! That's what I saw right off first sight...theres probably a lot more. But either way, and regardless, I'm a proud descendant of Igbo, and Yoruba people among other people in Africa. Nigeria is the region where my ancestors come from. One day I will visit so that my ancestors can restart the ties that were broken can be mended.

    People say I need to learn Spanish bc I'm Puerto Rican but that is equally if not more true for this beautiful language I'd much rather learn 🤷🏽‍♂️

    I was searching for the Yoruba language and your channel popped up. That is no coincidence. I appreciate your teaching on the Yoruba language. I did learn something new today. Blessings to you
