Now I know why this language is so musical. African languages are the juice and honey in Communications, but I resonate with the Yoruba tongue, the source of Afrobeat...that's why the language is so sexy and lyrical.

Ese gan, Blessing! I'm a child of Nigerian immigrants, and for the longest time, while I can understand chunks and pieces of Yoruba from my parents speaking it around the house as I grew up (and lots of Nigerian movies), there's still a lot I don't know, and I don't feel very confident in speaking it. These lessons are helping me more than you know. Much love

Very engaging Yoruba teacher. Thank you for preserving the language.
One note, please use apostrophe ( ' ) when you write a word that is a contraction so that people don't confuse it with another word. Yoruba is a tonal language, so the way you pronounce or write a word can change it's meaning.
Wan fe lo = they want to go
Wan felo = they searched for him
Correct English contraction: isn't = is not
Correct Yoruba contraction: s'oun lo = se oun lo = are you going?
Incorrect Yoruba contraction: akin to mean "awa o kiin" = we do not
When written as akin, this sounds like another word or name, Akin. Adding apostrophe ( ' ) to show missing letters would make it clear for reading.
Yoruba uses contractions a lot. A word could be pronounced like another word but the two are not to be written the same way. They only sound alike because one was pronounced in a shortened way. A word can also look like another word if it is not written correctly. This can make it confusing when reading in Yoruba.
This is why it is also important to use Yoruba intonation marks on words. It is easier to read and understand Yoruba when it is written correctly.
*Sorry for the long comment and missing Yoruba alphabet marks. 😉
