That’s terrific! I wish you success. I have a bunch of videos on this channel for the rugs. Watch a couple sew along ones too as I show you how to get them flat. I’ve learned a lot over the years and share my best tips for a flat rug.
THANK YOU for subscribing to my channel! I sincerely appreciate every second of your time. I hope everything I teach helps at least one person. Have a wonderful day. Jolene
Best instructions AND videography ever. No frustration with only seeing the back of someone's hand at a crucial point!!! Thank you so much. Subscribing for sure 😊.
Oh wow!!!! What a lovely sincere compliment! I am blushing. Thanks for filling my heart today. Please comment if you have any questions as you work your way through the project. Jolene - owner Home Stitchery Decor
That's awesome! I have a few videos on this channel with the rugs. This video is actually the first video I ever made on TH-cam. I was nervous as all get out and have improved since then! Check out my website too - www.homestitcherydecor.com Have a great day! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. It really helps my channel and I value your time. I make 1000's of rugs. So I have a different perspective then someone who just wants to make a rug to make a video. There are many rug making videos on my channel for you to enjoy! Have a wonderful day!!! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
WOW! Thanks so much. I have loads of sew along videos where I make them as well on the channel. Be sure to watch a couple for even more tips and tricks. This is such an aggravating project and I am trying to make it easier for everyone. Have a super day! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
Oh my goodness! This video is awesome! I started assembling a new rug today (my first one last year came out beautiful but with lots of struggles on those curves). But with your tip and using the Machingers gloves I am sailing around those curves like a pro. Many thanks. Be well.
Oh my word that is a lovely compliment!!!! Hello from Calgary. I also just did one live with even more close up detail as people have issues getting them flat. I really do hope this helps and please reach out if you have questions. Have a great day!
Hello Nova Scotia! I typically fold the first color into thirds. Fabric can vary in width off the bolt, and depending on how you sew the colors together your could differ from rug to rug. So my way is to have a center that's just one color for three 'rows' and I do this by folding it into thirds as best as I can. On my website at www.homestitcherydecor.com you can see all the rugs and get a closer look. Have a great day! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
Oh my gosh I am thrilled!!! I just love making them and all my crafts really and it is so nice to have people supporting my channel! I am making another video today on a new product...stay tuned. :) Post a picture when you have yours made, I would love to see it! Jolene
The best place I know of to get sewing tables is at Sewing Machines Plus...here is my link. My table is older but it does have the lift. Table set ups are pricey though - fair warning. I got mine second hand. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=596711&u=2821558&m=53072&urllink=&afftrack=
Very sweet of you! I'm obviously behind on replying to comments. I thank you very much and sincerely appreciate the support. Again...have a wonderful day!
Hi! Thanks for getting in touch with me. I use my sewing machine on the widest zigzag and sew just right of center of the two pieces. This way when you flip the rug over you will have caught the seam underneath. If you don't catch it you will have flipped up edges on the underside. Hope this helps - if you need more clarification just let me know. Thanks and have a great time on the channel! Jolene
No I have not, it would be cute though! I think I would test a strip or two sewn into the tube and then together to make sure your machine has enough muscle as that material is really thick. Tag me on a social if you try it, I would love to see! Jolene
What kind of batting do you recommend? I have Quilters Dream 100% cotton and a blend on a roll. I'm thinking of using the cotton. Are you familiar with that batting?
I use Pellon 93/7 scrim. I use the thickest batting I can find! Here is a link you can use - disclaimer I am an affiliate. Just copy and paste the link Hope this helps you out! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor amzn.to/4741OOp
Hi @mariesmith1527 - it's really just a personal choice! Hope you are having fun with your project and thank you for watching my channel. :) Jolene, Home Stitchery Decor
Hey @jennybaker5713 It does indeed depend on the rug. The big rugs use on JellyRoll. Then you can take out as many strips as you want for smaller rugs. The strips are 2.5 inches. A JellyRoll has 40 Strips. If you looking for some affordable fabric to try this out here is a link to Connecting Threads - it's an affiliate link. COPY and Paste the link and you will go right there. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=761208&u=2821558&m=60894&urllink=&afftrack= I wish you every success with your rug! I have a bunch of other videos here to help you sew them flat, batting choices etc. GOOD LUCK!!!
Hi Natalie, thanks for the question. I taper the last strip to a point at the end and decrease my zigzag at the point. I have other sew along videos on the channel for the rugs you many find helpful. Just search my channel for 'sew along'.
I know....I get nervous doing videos and call things the wrong names. This was one of my first videos. I am getting better at it and now that we have just completed a 5 month renovation I will be back at work on my channel next week. Thanks for being here! I appreciate the support. :)
HI! So sorry I just saw this comment. Obviously I am from Canada, we say sorry a lot. I do not drop my feed dogs for this project on this machine. The weight and bulk requires them to pull the fabric thru. I really hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
You can use as many as you like. My large rugs I use an entire Jellyroll which is 40 strips. I would recommend at least 20. It's easy enough to add or subtract depending on how large you like it. Hope this helps! Please post a picture when you are done...I love see others ideas. :) Best wishes from Canada
Hi Ginger! How long for what? You can make rugs as big or small as you want. If you buy a Jellyroll that’s got 40 strips rugs are about 40 inches long. Hope this helps and if not just ask. 😊 have an awesome day!
You should have shown how to finish up. I'm assuming that you were using a zip zag stitch to sew it together. I'd like to know the size of your rug. I'd also like to know how long the starting strip is. Thank you.
Hey...I COULD have shown how to finish it up. I'm actually not required to do anything. But I am not perfect so each video I'm sure will have something someone is not happy with. I have made another video where I sew the rug from the center to the outside edge. Lots more tips and tricks if you are interested. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/zZnyT2sj80E/w-d-xo.html Yes it's a zig zag stitch. Each rug varies in size depending on how many strips you start with. Typically mine are between 32x20 and 44x32. When the rug is started they way I show they almost always are 12 inches longer then wide. You can easily add or subtract strips if you want it bigger or smaller.
Yes that's true and this was one of the first videos I ever made! So I was nervous and made an error, my bad. The video is doing well and I have no intentions of removing it, people will just have to view it knowing no one is perfect. Have a nice evening :) Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
