Very much really him singing. After a Kareoke night among the cast and crew they found out that Tom Ellis is a great singer and from then on Lucifer became a singing devil instead of just a piano playing one. The piano fingering isn't him. He has learned piano over the course of the show but had a stunt piano man.
The scene in Linda's office made me a fan. For me it did show that Lucifer is not just a conceited arrogant selfish playboy, but that there are many more layers to his character, that he has a very troubled soul and an extremely difficult relationship with his family and that he is in pain because of it. It hit something in me , it was/is familiar for me.
This version of Lucifer is loosely based on the character from the DC Sandman comics. (Which is where the small joke later in the show "I thought you'd be blonde" "I get that a lot" comes from.) His speech with Linda is almost line for line from the comic. The delivery was amazing.
him telling Linda how he hates being made responsible for humanities short comings is to this day one of my favorite scenes. Superbly acted and so intense. He goes from cocky to annoyed to sad and traumatized to intense rage ... ugh love it :D There will be a scene similar to this far into future episodes that is equally as great and heart wrenching.

Mazikeen was the reason I came out as pan. Actually this whole show is the reason. I realized I was just as fluid as her and Lucifer. I was also in an LGBTQ+ History course at the time and literally the whole class came out during discussion one day when I brought up Mazikeen. We all laughed because we all knew we were all queer, why else would we pick that course for funsies 🤣 but it was incredible to hear everyone be confident to be out in that safe space. It made our professor really emotional because it was the first year she was teaching the course and she was able to have that safe space as well. I still remember her talking about how heartwarming it was to know young people really genuinely cared about our history to better shape where we're going 💗

The professor was also the chemistry department head, which is why I was going there. She was probably the brightest soul I've ever met in my whole life. Not to bring the vibes down, but I love to speak about her. After our class, she decided to do ivf and raise a baby on her own. Somehow this amazing woman who taught taekwondo, ran triathlons, and was ridiculously healthy died in childbirth. But the legacy and kindness she left behind is so so precious. I was closer in age to my professors than the students so we became fast friends. At one point our classes has to go back to virtual and she emailed me after and exam with webcams on. My cat had been jumping all over me the whole time and I was flailing around, so she asked me to feed her cats when she would travel 🤣💗 I am a better person just for having known that woman. Actually now that I think about it, the qualities in her character are things I tend to lean towards in the people I surround myself with. Even for youtube creators. I've mentioned here and there in little comments about a kindness I see in you. But there's been something I can't put my finger on. Now that I'm talking about her I realize you have a lot of that brightness and humor that she had. That's probably what drew me to your content to begin with! Well, I came for Harry Potter and stayed for the creator. Lots of love to you!

Hilariously enough, my 13yo son told me about this series after he binged watched it and then I/we binged watched all 5 seasons available at the time. Waited, 'patiently' for season 6. I absolutely loved this series and I can't wait to witness you going through it all again as well! P.S This show is SUCH a binge trap!

This is really one of those rare shows where the first season is quite ok and the series actually get better each season like Brooklyn Nine Nine and Glee(well, up to season 4 in this case) for example…👍🏾
Wait until you meet some of the characters coming up. One of my favorites is an annually recurring character who helps form the entire basis for the series finale! You'll LOVE him!

Tom Ellis’s mother was/is a music teacher. He doesn’t actually play the piano, but he has a classically trainer voice. Another show you’re currently watching also has a fantastic singer, but his voice is more rock. However on ‘Supernatural’ Jensen makes Dean have a bad voice, so you don’t get to hear it until S15. There are a lot of clips showcasing Jensen’s voice tho.
i would like to point out one very very important detail, in many shows they say that Lucifer was originally known as Samael, but in reality this is a myth, there is an angel named Samael in scripture but no where is he actually linked with Lucifer
I hate that Linda links the name Samael with the meaning "lightbringer" , actually Samael means "venom of god" and Lucifer means "shining one, light-bearer"" "lightbringer" Maybe Amenadiel told her the wrong meaning
it wouldn't be a series about Lucifer if he didn't sing, just so you know in the bible it implies that Lucifer had something to do with Music in heaven, it refers to his Pipes and harpes etc

You find it boring, for me the first 5 episodes were a bit boring. I became addicted with this episode , it became my favorite show of all times in very short time but it started with the end of this episode and in my opinion episode 7 was great too, especially the beach scene at the end(just my opinion). Everybody has a different taste
@@Scheherasad yes. Beach scene is so good, espacially for first time viewers. They did such a great job to spread out character developement of lucifer throughout season, so every episode is great in its way. But by far Lucifer has the best pilot episode i have ever seen.
The overall story is really well thought out at lucifer. What is more than weak are the cases of the week. That's what's really annoying. Always one and the same scheme. Interesting case, weak investigations with conclusions drawn by the hair and a confession at the end. And always connected with a current topic regarding Lucifer's character. And because we are all a bit stupid in the eyes of the makers, we are constantly reminded of this by Lucifer. For example, if an episode is about Lucifer's conscience, he will remind us several times that the episode is about conscience decisions. That's annoying. The series would have been finished in 2 to 3 seasons if it weren't for these "Cases of the Week." It would have been perfect.
without the crime aspect there would not have been this show. The crime aspect(no matter how weak it was) was most important for FOX , they did not really care about the other things.
