+Kappa I have yet to be a huge fan and geek of a video game series, I used to be a fan of MGS, then I took an arrow to the knee, er no I mean I wasn't happy with the way Kojima kept approaching his projects and how it was just recycled crap and blatant fan service. I love how Ratchet and Clank never bites more than what it can chew. I wanna see more of the film though because so far I have no idea how it'll be
Get the HD collection on the PS3 and re-live all those amazing memories! Sooo worth it!!

it looks photorealistic. As in photos of things made from plasticine and modelling clay. Which is awesome.
+Pat Mifsud check out the rain effects on the concrete textures around 46:30 into the video.. it looks almost as good as the Infamous SS wet pavement textures. These guys went full out with this one.

+The Golden Monkey (GoldMario5) There was no difficulty selection available. If there will be an "easy" difficulty offered in the game, it wasn't there in this preview build.
+Dynamite Beats It looked like they had weapons not normally available that early in the game. If I'm not mistaken, that was one of the first (if not THE first) missions from the first game. I think you just had the blaster and maybe the bomb at that point.
Polygon Maybe it's pre set and you cant change it? I dunno.
Smashing pots and crates galore, had a great time with those games.

At 0:20 I immediately noticed how Ratchet's left foot/rear paw adjusted to stand on top of the cable. I adore small details like this, especially in video games with a cartoonish visual style. Go Insomniac!!!

This honestly makes me tear up, ratchet and clank will always be my favorite game series, has been since November 2002, and to see insomniac still show this much love and dedication to the series is truly wonderful. The release can't come soon enough.
It looks like a Pixar movie! I can't believe the ps4 can pull out graphics like this or Uncharted4 or DriveClub or The Order or Killzone SF or Infamous or okay enough PS4 is one hell of a machine

Yes, the Trespasser is back! The Trespasser was my favorite puzzle gadget. It always felt so satisfying seeing everything turn green.

So many damn fun memories of the original game as a kid. This looks amazing and brings them all flooding back.
Now I've just got to get some Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter reboots and I can die happy!
I can't be alone in thinking this looks FAR worse than the PS2 original...
I mean, in terms of model quality, lighting, textures and the like, it looks stellar... But, the animation is really lacking compared to the original. In all the in-game cutscenes the characters look stiff and lifeless.
True, but the story is kinda childish too, so I just play it for gameplay which is really enjoyable

I am so happy and I can tell every area from the game because I played the shit out of it years ago
the game looks absolutely amazing and im really excited to play it. it does stink that the animation of the in-game cutscenes are less expressive as the ones from the original game.. but its clear they focused a ton of graphics with this. so i can see why there may not have been as much time/focus around animation for in game scenes, mostly when they have some movie scenes with it, which focus more on animation than the game.
Between this and Uncharted 4, this is gonna be the year that the bar gets set for PS4 games.

+Chris P To be clear, we were recording at 60 fps (which is why 60fps is an option on the TH-cam quality selector for this video), but yes, my understanding is that the game does not run at that.
+Elvick Or maybe they know the general consumer doesn't know the difference and will just play whatever. If these current consoles were powerful enough, it wouldn't be an issue, but most studios go for resolution over frame rate. So don't attack someone over having a valid opinion. 60fps in Ratchet & Clank is a huge difference vs 30.

OMG !! I remember playing this game when i was a kid, played the PS2 game , forgot the name though ,it was one of my favorite games !! so this is instant buy for me!!
The fitness course soundtrack is vintage Ratchet and Clank.
The flamethrower is so good when used properly and when upgraded, unlike most people with gameplay who seem to either not know that you can upgrade (not talking about leveling up, upgrading) or are just plain illiterate of the franchise and are just playing it just cause or are new to the concept. And a lot of people seem to forget to strafe. And the fact you can throw your wrench. Just a lot of stuff in general. You seem like a good player. I'm excited as the last Ratchet & Clank games I played were the original trilogy. I played about the first three planets of Into the Nexus, but never beat it (due to the fact I actually don't own it). I'm pumped and ready to complete this one.
Lol. I just remember the old PlayStation aliens game where if you held the flamethrower down it would immediately be empty... I avoided that gun for a long time.

+Bill Singleton You're right. It's even MORE cartoony than the original. I don't remember Ratchet ever going SPLAT like that before, when he and Clank jumped from their ship exploding. Everything's more toonish and expressive than ever.
Lugbzurg It's gone too far and become childish in it's design. While it is more cartoonish, it's lost it's edge. Like going from Adult Swim to Nick Junior.
+Bill Singleton The cartoonish feel is only gone because you are kinda old now. Your not a kid so you don't feel the cartoonish feel as much.

someone should make a game made entirely around the hoverboarding part of ratchet and clank. Story line and everything. The conversations are no longer cutscenes tho. Its like those modern games where they just stand there, do the same actions while moving their lips.
Those timed bomb blocks really reminds me of those TNT's in Crash Bandicoot oh I wish they revive that series.
Watching this at .5 speed makes you appreciate how well this game preforms
I never thought about the developer of Spyro before. That's awesome it was Insomniac. They were the makers of two series that defined my childhood.

I fangasmed within the first 3 minutes. The layout of all 3 planets were nearly exact to a T compared to the originals, the holocards will be one huge trip thru memory city, I even saw Up Your Arsenal's (admittedly forgettable) multiplayer mode. I am even more excited for its release now, & I didn't think that was even possible!
Wow, you've got to loven some of these conversations, it's going back and forth like a tennis court, the camera has to look side to side to make us believe they are having a realistic exchange.

I can't believe how good this looks. They weren't kidding when they said PIXAR quality. R&C 1 was my favourite in the trilogy and this goes above and beyond doing it's legacy justice. I can't wait to play it :D

Damn this looks amazing... but as excited as I am for this, I can't wait to see an all new ratchet and clank story with these graphics... This does feed heavily on my nostalgia tho... so good. Very happy to see they actually brought back alot of the level design from the old game. Best way to make a remake for these games imo... it looks like the old game, but it is still very fresh and new.
May take a while, it seems pretty obvious that if this does well enough (and I'm sure it will) they're gonna remake the other ps2 titles as well.

I hope I will, too. I wonder if the game got downgraded, though, or is it just the fact that some planets aren't as lit-up as the others? I definitely don't know how I feel about the terrain (might be the textures) and the rocks on some planets.

They're used for basically the same thing, as you find them you get concept art cheats and other extras such as character head masks and game filters
