- Who was gonna tell me I've been pronouncing Scadutree wrong this whole time, and why did it have to be a TikTok commenter?

It's the Skadoosh tree. and Skadoosh fragments. And the Land of Skadoosh.
SkaDOOSH!
Hey alright
lmao
Me and my friends call it scooby-doo upgrades 😂
I'm gonna use this
For all the dutchies among us, “scadu” comes from the same root as the Dutch word: “schaduw”, which once again, means shadow.
“among us”, I’m going insane
@@juluuvian aMogUs
@@lucasgroubert AMohgUs
It comes actually from Romanian Scadu meaning fall, Mohg is also a Romanian vampire you need to kill to access the DLC
@@gamerstorm9822 oh interesting! I figured because the words build was so similar and Elden ring borrows a lot from Germanic etymology. Also the area being called the lands of shadow, it seemed to fit nicely. Very cool though.
The only thing I could think of when I saw that word was "Blue Scadue and we can, too"
This time Fromsoft didn't have us go into a painting... Or it would have been absolutely perfect.
It will always be that in my heart
Im so glad Im not the only one. I've been doing the jingle in my head every time I picked one up lol.
There goes my 'Miquella is Blue leaving us clues' theory...
Sorry, that was the color of Ranni
Blue skadu, we can too.
I’ll keep calling them skibidi fragments
Goated skibidi
They are Skadoodles to me
Same🤣
The realm of skibidi
Brain rot
i call them skadooshes like in kung fu panda
Especially once i got kung fu when i already used dragon incants so often, even better😂
You’re bluffing YOU’RE BLUFFING
same
literally same
I audibly yelled "WHAT!" when i heard that
ive been calling them scadu-tree as in the first part of scadoosh from kung fo panda
rock and stone
@@itsreleki

We're Rich!
And I'm going to continue doing so, if they wanted me to pronounce shadow when reading it spelt Like that they should have used that spelling for the word in the other 500+ instances they spell shadow using English, and not some other language in my English localized video game.
im also gonna keep saying it how i have but only because it sounds funny to me
scadoo-tree
Oh my fucking god you mean to tell me the ballad of reading gaol is the ballad of reading JAIL
quick question how are you pronouncing "reading" in "reading gaol"
@polygon when my wifi blocks access to ao3, i call that reading jail
i know its pronounced RED-ing i just think reading jail is a funny phrase
It’s Funny
It’s Funny
Out of protest for how much of an ass whooping the final boss gave me, I choose to ignore this and continue calling them "scadoo"tree fragments.
I will join you in this
I love the irony of how we keep getting fooled by the pronunciations of our own language by a team of Japanese developers
I've just been like
"Blue scadu, you can too!"
Big difference between "Scadutree" and the other examples you list is that for "Blaidd", "Siofra", and "Gaol", there's a decent chance someone today from the UK or Ireland would recognise those words ("gaol" is rare but still technically in use in English, for instance), but "Scadu" is OOOOOOLD Old English. Not at all obvious to a modern reader that the "Sc" is pronounced "Sh"!
Except every person from the UK I know, including myself, could tell it was pronounced shadow. Maybe this is a you issue.
@@Brynwyn123can confirm. Am Scottish. There are still places that use "Gaol" up here too
@@Brynwyn123 am english, called it s-cad-oo tree until I saw a video before this lmao
I knew the other ones at least though
I'm gonna ask a possibly stupid question; is that why there is an H in school? Like a really old English grammatical rule that turns it into a hard C if an H follows S-C?
@@joshrivet4011 it might be from when english didnt have proper or set spellings for words so it arose as part of when they were making set ways to spell words. Only a theory though, could easily be quite wrong
Once Skadoo, always Skadoo
I've been calling them Skah-doo fragments.
Everything in this game has impossible to remember names, I calls em as I sees em
"Skibidi fragments" -mr. Steal yo sky
SKAdu tree seeds. Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up!
You know, like the skadoos cast by figures obscuring the sun. Skadoos...
It’s about time the english have some words pronounced in a silly way even though we know the right way, the rest of the world has gotten that treatment for most of modern times. Skadoosh to you.
Skadoosh to you, old chap
Ah yes, the sckadoo tree fragments, the geeaols, Blaiidd, and Ceeohfra River. My favorite parts of elden ring.
I’m the scadutree Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub, Yo da dub dub
I'm glad youtube offers to translate that comment to English
Wow imagine saying it like that…not something I would also have been doing…no no no 🥺
Rip to everyone else but you’re different!
@@polygon thank you for the sweet fragment of validation ☺️
Skidaddle fragments
The upgrades in Shadow of the Erdtree are ShadowTree fragments
from soft give off the vibe of really overthinking every detail of their games and then this dlc is "what if Band of the Hawk from Berserk and the tree is evil now' and I love it
Nah people be under thinking the games to be honest.
But yes if you thought the guy who acts and looks like Griffith was the good guy... I got news for you.
Same with the guy who looks like Joffrey...
People still think that guys a good guy. Despite every times description regarding him clearly showing he is very shady. But Rogier said he was good so we should believe him! Oh what Rogier is a zombie working for him? Oh ignore that... Just believe everything he says!
I’m still calling it skibidi-tree fragments
Can’t wait until the rest of America figures out “Cait” doesn’t say “KATE” but “CAT”
Don’t worry even the British have been calling it skadu fragments
Lmao “we’ll do better I’m sorry” 😂😂😂
Cries in Skadu
Embrace Scadu
Skibidis, Skadoosh, Scooby-Doos, Scooby Snacks.
But when I'm not goofing I literally just say shadow tree
I kept thinking “ Blue scadoo’ed, we can too!” From Steve
My little brother just calls them “the skibidi fragments” 🤦♂️
I’ve known literally all of the goofy words and the actual pronunciations the entire time, but goofy is just better
I been calling my them Skibidi fragments 💀
Ahh, the infamous SKADUTREE fragments.
… I’ve been talking like a Mafia Boss asking “where’s the Sca - Du ? “ and now I feel like an idiot
They definitely called scooby snacks
The scrabble tree got me fkd up
Starting the DLC: oh yeah scatter tree fragments cool
Later: wait I’m dumb that totally says Scadu-tree fragments ok
Now: everything I know is a lie
I've been calling them sac-a-doo-doo tree fragments.
so scadutree sounds like shadow tree that makes so much sense
Ah yes, the Scooby-Doo fragments
You will never hear me say it correctly as im calling it skadoosh tree fragments
I’m from England and you are completely forgiven, we call them Skibidi fragments
My friends and I have been calling them Scooby Doo fragments. Don't know why, but has just stuck.
Don’t forget “gloam” which rhymes with lame
WHAT
@@polygon well I’ve heard it both ways, as I understand the Gaelic version is glame and the Germanic version is glowm.
Then how do you explain roaming in the gloaming?
Nah, we rocking with skooby fragments, land of skooby and the skooby tree
3. Sha-doo tree
2. Sca-doo tree
1. Skibidi tree
Everytime I walked into a place that had the scadu new area I would just be like, “Ah yes the skadooooooooooo! Forest.”
Sca-doo, skibidi, skadolli, an achoo tree fragments are all things I have heard people call them
Bruh and here i am calling them scatter tree fragments
They can't stop me from calling them wrong intentionally
i think Erdtree and Haligtree probably should be pronounced different on that basis then. like closer to ‘Earth Tree’ and ‘Holy Tree’
They don't need to be pronounced differently as they are both words in english. They are based on older words so if we were to go down that way we could say har - lig - tree (Hārlig literally meaning holy) instead of hal - ig - tree and erdtree could maybe be pronounced air-d-tree. (Eard meaning kind/nature) But we are lucky enough to get these words in basic English. So we don't need to make it hard 😅
Also these are pronounced by characters in-game - far as I'm aware nobody ever says Shadowtree with the subtitles reading Scadutree.
Yeah no, they are indeed skibidi fragments
"I understand that the counsel has made a decision, but considering its a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it"
I'm sure Americans haven't done a brilliant job of pronuncing names like 'Rochefort' either...
I'm just remembering the '93 Three Musketeers movie with the character Rochefort and the line "Rochefort?" (With a hard K sound instead of soft ch) "Isn't that a smelly kind of cheese?"
Pronunciation is subjective and fluid
OKAY THATS TRUE
I always called them skadutree cuz I thought it was a pun on scattered tree fragments.
I'm still calling them Skibidi-Tree Fragments
I say screw it and i call the SUCCULENT tree fragments
I cant be the only one calling them skibidi fragments
I'm not sorry, scadurtree to the end!
Sheefra bro legit alway called it seofra 💀💀
scat man’s skibididiwomdubobdub fragments
It did cross my mind about halfway through the dlc, based on exactly the examples you mentioned! I’m pumped to get some confirmation!
Skibidi-tree. Is what my friend group calls it.
Definitely called skibidi fragments
As an Irish man, I've also been bamboozled
I'll still keep calling them scadoodoo fragments
'Gaol' is also just regular british english. (I'm speaking it right now!)
Lies. They're Blue Skadoo Fragments. Or Blue Skadoo, We Can Too Fragments for those that prefer their full name.
Wait till you realize Tiche isn't called "Teesh" or "Teechee" but "Teehee".
I call them Skadoopy tree fragments.
They will always be skibbidi fragments to me
These are skibidi fragments in my head now
it pleases me that im not the only one who just called them skadooshes
Idc if it looks like it's skadu than I'm gonna say skadu
I’ve been yelling Skadoosh from kungfu panda this entire time…
Ive just been calling em "Skadoodles" 😂
Siofra blew my mind lmao
Miyazaki is really putting English in his games that even English speakers don’t understand
Shadu, really?
SCA
SKADUTREE
SHIFRA RIVER
SEE O FRA RIVER!!!!
As an English man, all can be forgiven as even I fucked the pronunciation of it up 😂
Nah those are the scat man fragments
I was convinced 98% that it was a whacky Katakana Spelling which was kept.
So Basically „Scar Tree“
But this makes more sense
I’ve been pronouncing it as “skadoo” as in “Blue Skadooed we can too”
Nah i'm still gonna call it the Skadoo-tree
We Tulok and Mango fans will continue to call them blue scadoo fragments
As an Irish I did not pronounce siofra river correctly
I'ma keep mispronouncing it too
Scooby-doo fragments
I’ve been pronouncing them Scadootree the whole DLC I ain’t changing it now
My dumbass has been saying Sofira 💀
I might have dyslexia
I called them skibbidi fragments anyway
I promise nothing, no one can stop me.
I'll stick with scadooby fragments thank you 😂
ngl this makes the English language sound like it ain’t so confusing
Cant convince me they aren't 23 Scadoo tree fragments
They’re actually called “turdtree” fragments
As soon as I saw them, I was like "so shadow"
Ive been calling them "scuda"tree... like S-coo-da...
I’ve known how to properly pronounce all of that the entire time I’ve played the game I’ve just decided to say it the wrong way
