    Ma’am …. I sing both Carnatic and film songs …. In movie songs the scale is C and in Carnatic I used to sing in A# but now since I am singing film songs my range has become high…. Shall I practice Carnatic also in C…. All the varisaikal etc….

    Male n female Shruti are different .then how to sing duet ? Who will change Shruti to adjust ?if female changes then should she sing in falsetto

    • @abhishekvenkitaraman7797
      @abhishekvenkitaraman7797 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Generally in duets, males and females can both sing in B scale comfortably or A sharp. But sometimes, C also works beautifully for both.

    • @manjujain961
      @manjujain961 ปีที่แล้ว

      That means whatever Shruti we practiced we should change that Shruti to adjust
      .then why not practice in b

    • @abhishekvenkitaraman7797
      @abhishekvenkitaraman7797 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@manjujain961 It is generally recommended that Males sing in C or C sharp and above and Females sing in A, A sharp, G or G sharp. Many dont agree with this convention though. If I sing with a female, then we keep the scale to B or C so both can sing comfortably. When I used to learn from a female teacher, I had to sing in B or G sharp for adjustment and later practice alone in C scale(which is my natural scale).

      Male sruthi
      C,C#,D,D#,E
      Both genders sruthi
      F,F#,G,G#
      Female sruthi
      A,A#,B
      This is what I hear from a lot of people who learned/are learning Carnatic Music when I ask them which sruthi do they sing in and when I watch the Carnatic Music videos.

    In this case the P note is in the middle of the voice range, but it should be the S isn't it?

  • @ritamohan8426

    Some people are able to sing in both G and G sharp.
    So then which is the real sruthi?

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re right, people who have a range of more than 2 octaves can explore multiple shruti options. In general my suggestion is
      1. Keep one shruti for your regular practice . Choose one which is most comfortable and doesn’t cause much strain in higher notes
      2. Keep a slightly higher shruti for your performances or recordings, which may require slightly more effort but sounds more impactful due to the frequency mix. However ensure it’s not straining your voice. This can be used more occasionally only when you are singing in public.
