Raag Kirwani is a Hindustani Classical Raag, assumed to have originated from "Raag Keeravani" of the Carnatic system of music. It is a sampoorna raag. Songs in Kirwani Raag have a melancholic, heart-rending and sentimental feel. It is a harmonic minor Raag with moods of love, devotion and sadness. The scale is the same as the harmonic minor in western music. This Raag is very playful in nature so it is used in Thumri style compositions and also in movie music.
There are many famous Bollywood songs, like, "MERI BHEEGI BHEEGI SI (Anamika)", "TOSE NAINA LAAGE by Shilpa Rao (Anwar)", etc. are based on Raag Kirwani.
