Get a custom rom for your phone, then install gapps.

Dude your using custom ROM, in stock ROM and lock bootloader you can't do that because lock bootloader won't allow you to flash recovery.img unless boot loader is unlock,

It's impossible to do a full device root without PC on newer devices then s8 as of today
Also, you need an unlocked bootloader which needs a computer 🙃

I`m not a developer or what so ever, just speaking through experiences on rooting.
This is a nice video, but do be careful on rooting etc. double check whether your phone can be easily rooted with some procedures/videos (telling any devices),
because not all devices have the same procedure on rooting. Goodluck! . ^_^
aannnd rooting will void your warranty and you might not get official updates for your device.

it will work without problem, if you tried to root with kingroot and kingoroot and didnt work, then i recommend to try rooting using a computer which is more easy and safe, but this method will work i'm pretty sure!

2. In the next step press and hold Volume Up and Power key for a while.
3. You should relase held keys as soon as the Huawei logo appears on the screen.

You need to press download zip. Kingroot is way easier i recommen it just 1 click and your device rooted

Once u rooted your phone using this method try root again your phone with kingroot or kingoroot, this is happening because the root acess is not full acquired, so try this may help
Before you do this you must be already with your firmware. in case of anything goes wrong!

this has 2 partitions as good as i remember. you need a laptop and then booting to the 3.3.1 twrp i think because 3.2 didnt worked for me and then you need to flash the twrp installer zip file which installs twrp on both partitions i think. look up how it works on xda or something like that .

just downloading the zip wont install root. nor turning on and off the phone after installing the zip. he didnt mentioned that you need a computer installing twrp on the phone being able to flash this magisk zip to your phone. unless you know what you are doing dont try it or you might end in a bootloop or something else.
