So that slingshot is illegal in Germany, but one of his devices he built that could shoot down a helicopter is classed as a "toy", laws are just stupid.
Joerg, I beg of you, whilst in the UK, get a hold of a bunch of Royal Mail rubber bands. They're a dark red and they have so much energy. I made a slingshot as a teenager using 3 bands per side (3 single bands long each side) and the ball bearings from skateboard wheels would leave bullet holes in glass windows they went so fast. You gotta try it. I did use a cloth pouch however.
Hi Joerg, big fan of your videos. A suggestion, no commonly available material has more energy storage per weight under tension than nylon monofilament. Not all nylons are created equal, but standard fishing line (no so much soft leader line.) Has the ability to stretch to 160% of its initial length without taking any loss to its rebound. At a strain several times what high strength steel alloys can handle at the same cross section. And of course the density is seven times less. I started making an arrow rifle three years ago by conversion of a large diameter carbon sabiki fishing rod that had a line feed from the reel through the middle of the tube. By using 20 kg nylon monofilament, and simple pulleys to get the line strung 4 times the 1.75m length of the rod, on both sides, around pulleys at both ends, I expected to be able to achieve a throw force of 30 down to twenty kilograms over the full power stroke of 1.75 meters. A more complex double pulley two cable winch system could of course give you any force and velocity you want over the length of the throw. Of course many advantages would have been available from firing an arrow with a line trailing from its tail to the reel, and maintaining the fishing rod functionality. Great underwater too. Shame I never finished it. Nylon has far less hysterisis than rubber, and aerodynamic advantages too. Why not test this principal with your plank slingshot? I bet you can easily achieve at least twice the velocity with less draw force. An instant legolis nylon powered system would of course be an excellent idea as well.

Joerg: I had a plank of wood, some coat hangers, and a old car battery. I made this portable rail gun. The BBs I use travel at 1/10 lightspeed. Let's try it it out on this hill. Cool! I can see the ocean now!
Whenever I shoot my slingshot, I'm always amazed by how little deliberate effort it takes to dial in my aim. And that's not just me...that's pretty much all humans. Anyone I hand it to remarks on this as well; unlike with archery. A person can certainly become accurate in that field as well, but I notice more effort and deliberation in the process. It's almost as if humans are simply better at throwing "rocks", as opposed to arrows. Perhaps we are innately inclined to throw rocks well.
Shoot fishing led sinkers into a steel plate and see if it flattens them! Plus put a hook or plate on then end of the slingshot to hook over a branch or bench for stability and extra aim and power.
