I must admit that this style of gospel music feeds your spirit. I miss seeing a choir with a choir director who sweats while directing a song. Hearing a choir who knows how to break....so the music can edify your soul. We need to go back.
I remember mom playing this when I was a little girl. It matters what kids hear us listening to some words stick. ......the love he gave to me and now I'm free
2020 March 28, Worldwide Pandemic going on,what a wonderful surprise to find this video right before easter sunday in about 2weeks. I just witness to my neighbors their is no greater love than Jesus Christ who save my life and is The head of it . We must tell people about Jesus right now before its to late.
I'm an 80s kid. this is my music. there is no song of today that I can lean on when I need encouragement or lifting, I go back to the 80s. There is a legacy that these men and women left for all of us. The music is a symbol of the way the world was a much better place. Plus, dude was playing that piano!
RIP Ricky Grundy ( The Super Cool Dude with the Perm on the piano and red glittery shirt!!!) God bless your talent sir and style back then and today. #Great Musicians #RIP Ricky Grundy #80's Gospel Music!!
waterfallkeys215 That's cool! I send my condolences your way. I know him from his music and his appearance as the funny choir director in the Lady Killers movie. He was fun to watch. Very animated!! Bless his heart.
I'm new Ricky Grundy personally, he used to live in Encino and then Carlsbad California, very talented musician, he went to the southern California conservatory of music for 11 years, very nice guy but he had a no nonsense aura about him
Where are choirs like these?! You can barely find them in churches. I love the director in this song! When you have a director who is excited about the song it makes you want to sing the heck it of the song!
The way he switched up on the piano to let James Brown play ws dope😎. And you know the guy in red ws that coo unk everybody wanted to be like back in the day😁
I LOVE THE INTRODUCTION of this song...the BAND is TIGHT!!! The musical flow and the combination of instrumental work...I can tell that the musicians WORKED hard on this...:)....
I had to take a praise break on this 1. The directing style of Minister Jeffery La Valley, has always been a seen as a gift too me. The love of God in his music and direction has had a wonderful impact in Gospel Music and beyond it is a wonder. To God Be The Glory. The word of God is, living in every tone, note, beat and movement. Hearing this song you know that there is no Greater Love than the Love of Jesus. Amen.
Still one of my all time favorites! This was just the greatest era of gospel to me and I still draw from it to this day.Our old choir director Glenn Mayweather STILL goes in like this - be dripping sweat and WILL cut a step in the middle of directing! There's just nothing like that old time church.
This brings back so many awesome memories of growing up in my family's church!!! I'm at my desk smiling from ear to ear & my coworkers have no idea why. This is when the choirs were saved & filled with the spirit. Miss this in todays music.....Thankful to my parents for raising us in church like this....
This brings back great memories. In my car cassette playing this song, tears of joy streaming down my face. Hot tears of being delivered from bitterness from a broken marriage. Oh, Lawdy what a blessing to remember what God has done for me. He loves me.
I can't get enough of this song. When you truely think about the love of God, you can completely understand why and how Jeffery LaValley dance like he do. That song broke a yoke over his life or something cause you can tell just how much the words to the song meant to him. Praise Him!
I choose to live this life that God gave me to the fullest, I am not always right, but I'm not always wrong. I LOVE GOD, AND I THANK HIM FOR JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT. Just waking up in the morning is enough to know that God loves us, and I know for a fact, that God is real. Man can't get you into heaven nor hell, that's totally an individual thing, I'm going to heaven when it's time to leave this earth.
The message in Gospel music is always the purpose. The style of the music, or the vehicle which delivers that message, in this case, that late 80s, early 90s R&B flow, is what kept the pews full and a many folks coming to accept Christ. Mission Accomplished, people of God. ☺
Who would think this music made 20yrs today is making more impact than the Gospel music we hear today wow. Keith Pringle you are a soldier in a Mighty Army. Captain band your army i appreciate it. your version of perfect peace is the best you were and still is no joke! that's what the HOLY GHOST will reveal in you .
I would have to agree I am the Director of Music at the OSPMB church in Cleveland, MS and I am adamant about doing this music because it really touches the heart of man. Thank God for this music.
Keith Pringle is still doing his thing he still sings I saw him at a musical that he and I were participating in he testified and stated that he has some problems with his back but we are trusting that God is he he left he is still in San Antonio Texas residing@ Greater Joy Temple he is truly a motivator down home and encouraging man so prayer warriors pray for him but he is doing fine ain't nobody mad but the devil his music has been a success for Generation to generation to God be the glory
The annointing that's on the choir.... director ... minister... They shuts it down... Get lifted in Jesus name!!!! The organ player.. the praise breaks.... :)
Songs like this make me proud of the time I grew up. I wish that more children could listen to music like this, as I know it would touch their souls and perhaps instill a fear of God into them - which is obviously absent in many of our youth and young adults of today. When you have no fear of God, what's left to fear? Absolutely nothing - and we have to change that, as best we can.
This song brought me tears of joy and gratefulness when i was a kid...As i sit here right now the tears flow and i can appreciate even more the love of God protecting me even right now while I'm here on my second tour in Iraq. There is NO greater love!
I remember this song sing it to my son and playing around with him ...I lost my son 11 yes ago and everytime I hear it ...it bring back those moments of that day
I grew up on this and would be glued to the TV now it's really no gospel music that keeps me from beginning to end of album interested. Listening to this brings back so many childhood memories when there was fear reverence and true power in the church and people weren't so worried about titles....
Today’s gospel music has NOTHING on the Old School Holy Ghost anointed Music. It’s a shame we’ll NEVER get those days back. The Praise Teams are dominating most churches; it about pacification & entertainment but thank God for TH-cam.
Thanks so much for sharing this! These videos brought back many good memories of the dedication and work musicians put in to sharing the gospel through song. I grew up at choir rehearsal and the GMWA so this immediately put a smile in my face.
This song and the way it was performed pretty much sums up gospel music. I love all the choirs from the 90's, but this song performed by this choir is head and shoulders above the rest. This also looks 80's which may explain why.
Those churches are gone!! I can't find ONE in So. California. There are a couple of mega churches but they are all "hype"...i'm seeking more than just a mega-church hype! I'll stay home! Watch TH-cam.
J Smith I found a church in Los Angeles, the Pastor teaches the word of God in front there is a big sign HOLINESS OR HELL. It is not very big there is no praise dance no big choir no performances of sort just the word. Everyone knows each other no clicks and they teach about tarrying for the Holy Ghost. Interested I will give you the information. If you have gone down Slauson look for Holy Apostolic Bishop Michael Ross because it is Holiness or Hell.
J Smith Tuesday night at 7:00 is Bible Study and Friday nigh, oh my God the Friday night services are something just an outpouring of the God and that is at 7:00 pm as well the last Friday night of the month the church open for all night prayer and fasting before First Sunday the Pastor is Bishop Michael Ross he is anointed of God and I really enjoy his style of teaching, I left a Mega Church when I cried out to God: Lord I know I am wrong and nobody seems to care I am heading to Hell but I was at ease I was being entertained and not taught lured and not corrected but I broke free and nobody even knows I am missing or they do not care, come you will be welcome and they show so much love at 2156 West Slauson hope to see you one day.
Keith was the man. Finally saw him live with the Pentecostal Community Choir during the Call Him UP era. Hot album. Performed in Jackson, Ms at Davis Temple. Minister Keith Pringle.
@mspraize & Ayktd. You guys are right. During the time I was growing up as a teen in the 80's songs like this gave me the inspiration to keep going. I was just a babe in Christ when I first heard this song. The beginning of the contemporary movement. Now the songs have gotten too far to the left. As a musician I'm doing the best I can to bring back these songs. Please pray that I continue to strengthen the young and old thru this kind of music along with Rev. Nicks.
Eventhough I was a kid in the late 80`s and early 90`s I miss the way Gospel music used to be. I watch the 2014 Stella Awards and was not impressed with gospel music of today. Don't get me wrong there are good artist but and they won the Awards but in the next 5 yrs will we remember them. And yes that is with all music out there. But I remember when Choirs used to have 7,8 and 9 albums and my mom telling me to get a record and put it on the turn table, or go into the store and get cassette so well could listen to it in the car..lol yes change as someone said is good, but Gospel just isn't the same. and at 32 I still miss Lashun Pace,Daryl Coley, Willmington Chester Mass,Milton Brunson,Richard Smallwood,Douglass Miller..etc. it doesn't have to be them or really that type of exact gospel music but I should not be in the store deciding if I am choosing between a new Jill Scott album or a Gospel artist that only has two good songs on the whole album...lol
***** you are right. I grew up Cogic and my parents used to sing in the state choir at convocation directed under the late Kitty Parham. And they sung behind many gospel artist. I grew up in Philadelphia and when anyone big in gospel was coming into town my mother was one always listening to the Radio station. Hez Walker, Vicky Winans, Rev Tim Wright..etc music. I am not hatting on Kirk Franklin but once he came out and starting doing his thing and was successful at it,(ppl think kirk franklin was the one who brought hip hop into gospel, there where ppl before kirk did that but was not successful at it, like a gospel artist named Dennis Austin..etc)then we started to notice how gospel was changing. Artist started going in his direction because he was making money. Not to say that everyone that went into the what I call "Gospel R&B" was doing it for money some just knew that they wanted to be more up to date with music. In fact now when u go into record stores like FYE they don't really have a gospel section, they have a Yolanda Adams next to a Chris Brown or 2chains next to Smokie Norful...I think to myself like "really?"..lol oh well I will continue to keep searching more videos like the ones u are posting God Bless
I totally agree with you Misterjgl! I grew up on Keith Pringle, The Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong and the Clark Sisters. These Gospel Artist now are so different. Where is the annointing and they style of music and their "performance of worship" is so questionable to me! That Stellar Awards left me with a blank look on my face! And do you notice, they dont even acknowledge the fore-founders like Keith Pringle and the listed above who actually laid the foundation for them to come through the door of Gospel Music. Wow! Really something...Change! not always good!
I love love love this song. It has flooded me with so many memories of my old church home. God bless u Min. Keith Primgle and Pentecostal Community Choir. God bless u real good.
have enjoyed going back to real music, with a message not just rhythms and beats of todayvery much missed today, nothing like a gospel choir singing praises Iam a fan!!
We used to jam on this song.....especially Easter.....I can still see my mother, getting her jam on directing. People of that era was so far beyond their time.....even though I was young, I'm glad I was able to witness that movement.
Wow..How this brings me back..Makes me want to cry..I really miss those times when I was a child and so charged to go to church...I miss classic gospel like this...It is such a joy to see it on here....Actually, I have been trying to get the Rev. James Cleveland, Live At Carnegie Hall..(Especially Soldiers Of The Cross)..I love that album...
Omg let's go to Church people on a Monday note. Boy I'm so glad I came up on this powerful praise and worship moment in time.Aaah yeah let's get back to worshipping the king of kings and lord of lords. Happy Sabbath everyone whether you do it on Saturday/Sunday April 4/5-2015, just accept Jesus Christ in your Heart Right Now !!! He's knocking Please let Him in. I did and I don't regret it not once and you won't either."
I tottaly agree with these other post!!! I miss this type of gospel music. I was young back when this song came out but even then it spoke to my spirit. There arent very many songs that move me like that these days.....#IListenToOldSchoolGospel lol
Bro. Grundy, it is nice to hear from you. As a fellow musician and director, though young, it was through this song that I came to really love the Lord and give my life totally to Him. This song came out during the time when contempary gospel was REALLY taking off and I truly miss that. It is also good to know that Keith is doing well also. I had heard sooooo many rumors including of him dying from AIDS. You guys need to come back, FOR REAL!!!!
My dad has this VHS and I can't even begin to say how many Sunday mornings (and other times) we watched this very song and video to get in the Spirit before church........PHENOMENAL
This is what Gospel Music used to be! Music on point, and lyrics with real message about God! Time to go back to the old landmark?
George Manigault I agree bruh
Yes!!!❤
I must admit that this style of gospel music feeds your spirit. I miss seeing a choir with a choir director who sweats while directing a song. Hearing a choir who knows how to break....so the music can edify your soul. We need to go back.
Yes to all of this!
I remember mom playing this when I was a little girl. It matters what kids hear us listening to some words stick. ......the love he gave to me and now I'm free
blessed that this choir was a part of my life.
Years later, this is still a classic gospel song, that deserves to be in everyone's library of excellence!
I'm an 80s kid. this is my music. there is no song of today that I can lean on when I need encouragement or lifting, I go back to the 80s. There is a legacy that these men and women left for all of us. The music is a symbol of the way the world was a much better place. Plus, dude was playing that piano!

***** Yeah I knew Dr Rickey since I was a teenager. Great guy great teacher. Always showed the young cats that they could take and add to their chops.
waterfallkeys215 That's cool! I send my condolences your way. I know him from his music and his appearance as the funny choir director in the Lady Killers movie. He was fun to watch. Very animated!! Bless his heart.
He got on the piano with swag and started killing.. I was wondering who that was.
I aways wondered who that was. Thanks for the info.

The person in the piano is Rickey Grundy. He is a music extraordinaire!
Where are choirs like these?! You can barely find them in churches. I love the director in this song! When you have a director who is excited about the song it makes you want to sing the heck it of the song!

I was thinking the same thing
It still does! To the right people

Thanks so much for sharing this! These videos brought back many good memories of the dedication and work musicians put in to sharing the gospel through song. I grew up at choir rehearsal and the GMWA so this immediately put a smile in my face.
Ricky Grundy who came and got on that piano is a beast. He actually wrote “Call Him” which was recorded by Keith Pringle and PCC! Great song !
This song and the way it was performed pretty much sums up gospel music. I love all the choirs from the 90's, but this song performed by this choir is head and shoulders above the rest. This also looks 80's which may explain why.
What happen to church being like this. Were you have to get there early just to get a good parking space?
Those churches are gone!! I can't find ONE in So. California. There are a couple of mega churches but they are all "hype"...i'm seeking more than just a mega-church hype! I'll stay home! Watch TH-cam.

There's nothing like the old school, everything was on point. Still listening in 2018.
This video is still blessing in 2021!
Ooooh to tha’weee! This is my kind of carrying on right here!
🙌🏽👏🏽
This was at a time when gospel music was just dripping with talent. Oh, the good times we had.
Classic and timely gospel song!
You guys need to come back, FOR REAL!!!!
we rock on these songs my god!!
Love this song. man i miss those mass choirs of back in the day. wish they would come back.
THIS IS OLD SCHOOL RIGHT HERE!
That Lady walked to the piano real cool & peaceful 😎 & the guy on the organ looks like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ,💎
The Singer.
That was Rickey Grundy, a man, who walked to the piano.
That was the late Dr Rickey Grundy....
THERE IS NO GREATER LOVE.......THANK YOU JESUS
My dad has this VHS and I can't even begin to say how many Sunday mornings (and other times) we watched this very song and video to get in the Spirit before church........PHENOMENAL
I LOVED this song... Thanks for posting it. It was the first complete song that I learned to play on the piano. God Bless!!!
This is the message we need for the world today.
