Without context, the part from 1:51 to 2:16 looks like it's from a weird indie horror movie that somehow had the budget for really good cinematography.

I’ve playing a lot of Breath of the Wild recently and every time I fast travel I think about the fact that the npc’s don’t even react despite the fact that I just burst into blue shards.
how I imagine it, since time freezes while it happens, from the npc perspective Link just suddenly vanishes. Maybe a quick blue flash? Suddenly disappearing without seeing any of the effects cuz it’s too fast sounds more funny
I mean he just telepathically controls things, summons contraptions from thin air. I could see the npc's veiwing him as some mythical force of nature ( just make sure you have the pots ready for him when he visits)
You know what’s funny is that in Kingdom Come Deliverance this is actually how the system works. If you close the map overlay you’ll see you’re actually just really quickly travelling down the path your icon shows you moving through.
I’ve been wondering how the game did that before. An idea was Henry still moved on the map while the whole world was not rendered. Can’t say I ever thought to close the map UI or if I even can in case it was just a video showcasing how it works with a modified game.
That shot at 1:39 of you running backlit by the setting sun is gorgeous. The video is also very funny and weird but I felt I needed to point out that shot in particular.

lmao I always pictured my character saying "High-Ho-Silver, AWAY!" before their Pipboy revealed tiny jet engines on the side and just blasted them through the sky to the destination like a wet noddle rocket
I love how this works so well with Fallout: New Vegas because fast traveling in that game actually plots a line from your place to the point you're travelling to and skips the time it takes to walk there in a straight line. 10/10
This reminds me of when I played the original Elder Scrolls and got boots of speed that made me super fast but made me blind. There was no fast travel so it was a great way to get around though navigating via minimap was always hilarious.
I never thought of the implications. I mean, in elder scrolls, you aren't just teleporting (except in Morrowind) but actually losing time that you have no perception of.

Reminds me of that one scene from month python and the holy grail

As a game developer, I can confirm that this is exactly what happens when you decide to fast travel.

In fallout 4 the game genuinely accounts for the time it would've taken for your character to run to the place you fast travelled to

Like a sentient autopilot, but the autopilot pilot is inside a player character.
Those janky ass NPCs have no right to be freaked out by the fast travel when their own movements are straight out of the uncanny valley hahaha
Nice

Love how cinematic the shots are!
I love how Reese was so surprised yet nonchalant at the same time. That was perfect acting for a New Vegas NPC.
This is the most unsettlingly hilarious interpretation of fast travel I've ever seen
OMG, as a long-time player of many Bethesda titles, I couldn't stop laughing the entire video, this is some top-tier satire right here!
The scary music build up to the NPC talking was spectacularly funny. Literal belly laughs, thank you guys
I haven't played fallout, but the having the camera centered on the NPCs whilr having the actors with stiff movements was excellent.

Some of these shots are CRISP. I mean, they're all nice, but those close ups just cinched it for me. Nice work, you all!

I was convinced before I watched it that it would be a lame and obvious joke. I was not prepared for any of it. Well played indeed, sirs.
The crash at the end confirms its fallout new vegas
I was fully expecting just plain teleportation, but this is fantastic. Awesome work on this!
The fucking running along the wall killed me.
And as for the player's perspective: "Loading...."

The weirdly crossed arms is nice touch. The only thing missing is some minor clipping, but I suppose that's kinda tricky to replicate
The horror of losing your soul just so you don't have to wait to get to places.
The algorithm is directing me here this day. And I keep re-watching 2:17 and the essence of the dialogue start being captured there.
It's been 10 months and I'm still re-watching this part.

We needs a game where the npcs physically act like Skyrim npcs but have dialogue and behavior and live in a setting like this.
