I wonder if the Twelfth Doctor has patched the telephone device back through the console unit yet. If not then he should really get around to it because he's already installed several blackboards and those weird psychic controls in just one season
He did not. Remember the episode "Time Heist" when he answered to a mysterous call at the beginning, or the episode "Death In Heaven" when he answered to Clara when he was with Missy on the plane !
Steven blends the comedy into the episode perfectly - this may be the bonus of having actual sitcom writers be involved in non-sitcom things (not to mention he was also the showrunner long before this point) they (should) know how to do comedy naturally, so it doesn't look shoehorned in or trying too hard to be funny, but then it would also help if they know the thing they're actually writing for (Steven is/was a Doctor Who fan, so he knows the format of it, I'm sure.) Also, I love how Handles's message is introduced as a comical moment, but when it finally gets mentioned again (can't remember if we get at least one more comical mention of it) it's during a sad moment - I even saw it coming, and still found it beautifully done.
Pretty typical accent, really. Outside of London, a lot of people sound like that, though the London accent is sort of taking over, as the California accent has already taken over America

+Johann Schmidt// Red Skull obsessive compulsive disorder. Everything has to be in the right place where they think it should be. Kind of like a neat freak, except they cant help it.
People often say they have OCD when they don't, as a joke to mean they're being a perfectionist. That's actually kind of insensitive to people who actually have the disorder, because real OCD people have to do things like wash their hands 20 time or flick the lights on and off a certain way (every person's different) or they'll freak out. Even though they *know* it's irrational, they *have* to do their rituals to be ok. It's a serious problem that I can't imagine having to live with.

Matt's final episode was pretty good, but my main issue is that Moffat should have thought out the resolutions to his story arcs a bit more. Still, good though. I'd say everything to do with the characters was better than the plot itself.
Cryer24597 tbf matt had said he was going to stay for series 8 so wen he decided to leave moffat had to squeeze alot into series 7 meaning it didnt work quite as well as it could have
Cryer24597 I can see why it wouldn't have been better, but all I really didn't like was how Moffat rushed the Doctor's time on Trenzalore was. It didn't evidently feel like he was on there for 1,000 years. Also, there was a huge opportunity to remember his past companions because Eleven is the 'man who forgets'. So, I think that would have lessened what you said the negative impact the episode had.
Cryer24597 There is a obvious reason Moffat is doing as hes doing with Doctor Who. He is stalling for time; Because the "truth" about whom the Doctor is possible to deduce since season 4. Question that remains hidden thou is; Who is the Master in relation to the Doctor; Is he really "just" his old friend or is there a reason why he is his "arch enemy". My theory is yes there is a reason that its just the Master that have remained the big Villian thur the years ( the Daleks and Cybermen are peanuts for the Doctor to handle compared to the Master. Just as it easy to deduce whom the Doctor is (even Clara knew of him when she read about him in that book) In a mega short short Version ill explain whom the Doctor is and whom the Master might be from that. Step 1 understand that there is more then 1 Universe at work in Doctor Who. Step 2 understand that there was a Universe before time began in this Universe where our Doctor comes from (was born on, not hown in the show, but it has been sneakily mentioned see step X for an explination) (several times this have this with a previous Universe been mentioned in classic Doctor Who, Terminus is 1 example) Step 3 that previous Universe had a Earth just like our Earth in it. (see step X for why we know this Step 4 That previous Universe had a character we know as (Face of Boe) in it and "he" Caused the timeline in that previous Universe to change. (not shown in Doctor Who but see step 5 for explination on how we know this) Step 5 Jack Harkness and Face of Boe is not the same person but they have the same role in each Universe. Step 6 Episode Doomsday saw the closure of the crack in time and it saw a NEW timeline being sneakily being shown from the moment Donna Noble was drawn to the TARDIS. Step 7 The closure of the crack in time made the Classic series of Doctor Who of 1963 until 2006 a completly fixed TIMELINE (nothing can ever be changed in it again as it is a completed full circle timeline. Step 8 The timeline after the moment the crack n time was closed was NOT fixed (the one the 10th Doctor was then "now") it (the timeline on this side of the crack in time was completely fluidic (timey whimey). Step 9 Jack Harkness did in episode Utopia the thing that forever changed the "new" timeline forever. (Something that didnt happen in the original timeline that is now fixed) He succefully grabbed hold of the TARDIS and that "single" event changed the timeline completly so Donna Noble was drawn to the TARDIS the first moment our Doctor was inside the "new" fludic timeline". This is the same action Face of Boe did in the previous Universe that forever changed that timeline in that Universe to ultimatly lead to our Doctor being born. (acctully one of the last final acts in the Classic Doctor Who timeline (seen in episode Doomsday) was to secure the birth of the Doctor) An ordinary woman from our Earth traveling to the previous Universe and there having a kid with a man from that Universe Earth. = Our Doctors name is Tony Tyler a half human child from the Planet Mondas... Step 10 (The previous universe Earth turned out to become the planet Mondas in our Universe) This is infered thru what we know about the Dark Times of the Timelords. Step 11 Every event in in the new timeline we have currently seen during series 3, 4,6,7,8 is leading to the birth of a half human child that is destined to become the Doctor in the next Universe. And that impossible kid is Clara Oswald half human with a (human) mother from the next Universe (so she stands out as a ordinary woman but shes the result of 2 universe sharing the same timeline). Our Doctor have figured this part out but he is trying to avoid end up on Trenzalore. But; as we got to see the Doctor understood he couldnt escape his destiny when he saw what had happend to Gallifrey in the latest aired episode. It had turned into Trenzalore as depicted in the video above. Step 12 realise series 5 happend before series 2 episode Doomsday becuse 10th had to see Rose 1 last time before regenerating. So when 11th shouted GERONIMO he was back in the classic doctor who timeline. for about the rest of series 5 except the keysodes with River Song (that is new timeline exclusive) and Minisode Good night explains this very well about 1.30 in it. In the classic Doctor Who series Amy Pond never had any periods In the new Doctor Who timeline/seires Amy Williams always had periods and they rememberd each others memories just like Clara could remember her "timeline" she never lived for during that 1 day in Journey to the center of the TARDIS. (thru the exposure to a timevortex/craxk in time) step 13 the last step for now. Realise that the Opeing credits since "1963" infact since the colourisation of DOctor Who the opening credits have shown us what timeline have been active in Doctor Who (Since 9th Doctor we have been seeing 2 timelines (except for during seires 7 part 2 that only had the new timeline active in the opening credits.) Ok there you have a starting grasp on what Doctor WHo is all about. Ill Just end with In the previous Universe there was a another Doctor with a timemachine and that Doctor Ended up as the Curator over/for the survivors from that Earth in this Universe 65 million years ago and that Doctor had his Timemachine end up as a dark tower in a dead Zone on Gallifrey just like our Doctor one day already has done in the future as seen in the past (last christmas special)

HANDLES: When?
THE DOCTOR: I don't know, just later, just pick a time.
HANDLES: When?
THE DOCTOR: I don't know, just any old time, just when you think I've forgotten.
HANDLES: When?
THE DOCTOR: Just pick a random number. Express that number as a quantity of minutes and when that time has elapsed, remind me to patch the telephone back through the console unit.
HANDLES: Affirmative.
LOL.
You know i kinda expected when the doctor turned around after picking up the phone Handles reminded him to patch it back through the console unit
I thought that the random number would turn out to be 0 mins
Didn't they pay this off later in the episode, like "Handles" finally gives the message as he expires?
apartment906
Yes, as he dies, watching a last sunrise, handles tells him to do that
Simon Gerber
What are you talking about?
"..But....I WILL Glance through the manual!"
And I continue loving the Doctor.
And the writers.
I really wish they had kept the Cyberman Head. It was hilarious :)
Danil Manison to be fair his "death" was a really touching moment for me... even if my dad wouldn't have touched me still a good moment
i like the Cyberman Head as well
yeah he was one of his longest companions wiht almost no screentime;( rip handles Stuart Macleod
I liked him as well, but I don't think he would have worked with Capaldi
@@user-bp4tu9tg8t Yeah, Capaldi's a bit too serious for that, I think.
Wait did he admit to creating a robot boyfriend?
+christopher hollis Didnt River say once in season 4 that she dated an adroid........this cant be a coincidence
Silversands ω uhh, no. brigadair cyberman was in season 8
+Silversands ω The Doctor obtained Handles from the Maldovar Market. He says so in the episode. It's not the Brigadier.
+christopher hollis Of course he did, have the Doctor ever stated that gender or species matter to him in a relationship(and considering that regeneration is as he says "a lottery" he could become any gender in the future, though I think it also depends on which gender they where born as that determine which gender they are mostly likely to be regenerated as)
+Silversands ω Not trying to start a inevitable pointless argument fuelled by extremely fragile colliding believes here buuuut...it's not abnormal to begin with.
3:30
*Casually blocks laser blast with Handles' head*
This was arguably when Doc Who was at its peak.
Also, I would have bought Handles, if they had made a toy Cyber head. Oh well
Wait they never did that? I suppose a literal head may be a bit much but still, missed opportunity. Also you know I’d be running Alexa or other voice command software through that thing
I wonder if the Twelfth Doctor has patched the telephone device back through the console unit yet. If not then he should really get around to it because he's already installed several blackboards and those weird psychic controls in just one season
I believe the 11th doctor already have the physic controls.
yes he did there is a new phone on the 'remixed' tardis
Actually I think the twelfth was bumped up to 13 when the 50th anniversary happend.
He did not. Remember the episode "Time Heist" when he answered to a mysterous call at the beginning, or the episode "Death In Heaven" when he answered to Clara when he was with Missy on the plane !
Clément Collignon here look from the 5 doctor-ish episode when there in the set imgur.com/8Ai8Fmz phone on the console
"I'm OCD what's they're excuse??" OMG DOCTOR xD
Steven blends the comedy into the episode perfectly - this may be the bonus of having actual sitcom writers be involved in non-sitcom things (not to mention he was also the showrunner long before this point) they (should) know how to do comedy naturally, so it doesn't look shoehorned in or trying too hard to be funny, but then it would also help if they know the thing they're actually writing for (Steven is/was a Doctor Who fan, so he knows the format of it, I'm sure.)
Also, I love how Handles's message is introduced as a comical moment, but when it finally gets mentioned again (can't remember if we get at least one more comical mention of it) it's during a sad moment - I even saw it coming, and still found it beautifully done.
Wait a minute... if this video is 3 minutes, 53 seconds long, how come I only saw the first 3 minutes and 47 seconds?
+Reid Heidler Wait, why am I suddenly subscribed to the Doctor Who channel?
:)
Reid Heidler strongest reference to the silence ever !
The hell are the silence?
Google What?
2:41 is it just me who finds it adorable the way she says "shut up"? Okay fine
Pretty typical accent, really. Outside of London, a lot of people sound like that, though the London accent is sort of taking over, as the California accent has already taken over America
2:55 "An Imaginary One"
Eleven always become the Imaginary Friend
"I need you, I'm cooking Christmas dinner!"
"I'M BEING SHOT AT BY CYBERMEN!"
"Well can't we do both?"
Jeez Clara, how selfish are you?
Very
This is why I hate clara
christmas dinner while being shot at by cyber men, this should be interesting.
Makareno94 truuuuueee
Sorry, how exactly is that selfish? She said "why can't we do both"; including his part AND her part. Not excluding anything. She didn't say "hurry up and appear for Christmas dinner." or "I don't care, hurry up." That's an example of being selfish. Plus, you really can't fault her or anyone who may be at mercy of families whom hassle them questions consisting "do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend yet."
This makes me so happy. I found myself unconsciously smiling while watching this. It's REALLY sad that nothing Chris Chibnall does can get that response. This is just good. It's really good and fun
Oh he so wanted to be her boyfriend.
No he didn't.
***** Here's a line from Nightmare in Silver.
"Impossible girl. A mystery wrapped in an enigma squeezed into a skirt that's just a little bit too tight. Oh yeah."
If he wasn't interested, he wouldn't take notice or comment.
***** And I still don't understand the mistake bit....
Einez Crespo Wouldn't notice? It's The Doctor. He notices some stuff that aren't meant to be noticed, and doesn't notice stuff that are meant to notice. Also, he's not human. He's a Timelord. But if he _was_ interested, you'd know.
***** Oh I don't know. He also misses stuff that are meant to be noticed. He said "I am so slow!" in Hide. Yes he was interested.
Moffat said in the box set DVD of Series 7B in the behind the scenes clips Creating Clara subset Courting Clara "He really does fancy this girl when he knows he shouldn't. " That was most likely the mistake 12 was talking about. Just a thought.
"So I may have... accidentally invented a boyfriend." Clara's expression is perfect. She looks so distressed as she says that.
“Well that was quick, it’s a rollercoaster this phone call.” 😂😂😂
This is the 3rd time this week I shot my monitor with a shotgun and I can't for the love of me remember why.
1:02 Another Dalek forgot to turn on their eyestalk! Epic Fail XD
Ok which one of you idiots put liquid metelert on my eye stalk again. '4 daleks start hovering away as quick as they can'. YOU JERKS!!!
It looked more white to me, plus if you look back at previous modern stories with Daleks you'd definitely see the eye stalk lights on at the same camera angle!
Not to mention another time when a modern Dalek has forgot to turn their eye stalk on. (The Stolen Earth)
MY VISION IS IMPAIRED I CANNOT SEE!
My eye won't turn- oh there it goes
THIS DALEK REQUIRES BEAUTY SLEEP

Wtf is this comment section about?
so, the doctor went to a dalek ship with a dalek eye, then went to a cyberman ship with a cyberman head!!! wow he didn't learn his lesson!!
The Cyberman ship was entirely the Doctor's mistake
The Dr’s reaction when he realized he walked into a Cyberman ship was hilarious.
"It's a rollercoaster this phone call" lol Matt delivers this stuff great
First he's teleported onto a Dalek ship carrying a Dalek eyestalk then he exits the TARDIS onto a Cyberman ship carrying a Cyberman head rotten luck.
He needs to carry around a bit of a friendly species in a briefcase (cryogenically frozen?) so he can be on a ship that won’t immediately try turn him to space jelly
"I'm OCD what's their excuse?"
I never thought that I would relate to the doctor this much.
Feels like just last week that this episode aired. Heh.
3 years later and this feeling hasn't passed yet
what ep is this ?
"Use your head, it's not like you've got a lot of alternatives!"
So clever, Doctor.
"Emergency,youre my boyfriend"
"Ding dong okay brilliant. I might be rusty in a few areas but i will glance at the manual"
First,he was so ready for it (11 x Clara for life)
Second, MAY I SEE THAT MANUAL
Also, I don't think "Emergency, you're my boyfriend" is the correct or best way to go about asking someone out.
Disgusting, doctor and river is where it's at.
@@DoctorWhoKage I dunno. If a woman like Clara said that to me, I'd probably be terrified first and then absolutely ecstatic once I got over the shock and nervousness.
OMG!!! LOVE THIS EP!!!!
"When? When? When?.."
Pheebs it was the last Christmas special of Matt’s 3rd season at the end after the Day of the Doctor episode
@@larizarichard08 He was quoting Handles.
Despite some .... inconsistencies in this scene... I've got to say that this is by far the best scene in that episode !!!!
Handles dying was...very sad.
"PLEASE! I NEED YOU TO COME TO CHRISTMAS DINNER!" "I'M BEING SHOT AT BY CYBER MEN!!!" " WELL CAN'T WE DO BOTH??" "yea why not?" XDD
3:36
he loves you if he picks up the phone while playing :D
Six years later and I laugh now at "use your head, it's not like you've got a lot of alternatives" as much as I did when I first heard it
So much clever lines in under 4 minutes. Great writing.
"Don't put me on a Dalek ship when I'm holding a broken peice of Dalek!"
0:04 Do you know that’s amazing really cos in all the episodes of Dr Who out there I’ve never once come across a planet that wasn’t important.
How refreshing, a youtube video that doesn’t bug you to subscribe
2:18 Love that imagery
I love to think that all previous companions have the Dr's phone number but each number caters to a specific Dr, like they are only able to contact a specific incarnation of the Dr they travelled with in previous stories. May not be accurate but it would also be funny being the current doctor and receiving hundreds of telephone calls from previous companions asking him for help or trying to invite him/her to events like Xmas parties. Would make for a funny parody episode, similar to the Vicker or Dibly episode where she needs to attend all the villagers xmas dinner parties in one evening 😂
i always just assume most things like that are telepathic TARDIS trickery
Thing is, if he does have to visit all the companions for Christmas, it's lucky he has a time machine 😂
TARDIS probably works like one of those old switchboard operators. "Oh that's Clara, I'll put her through to her Doctor."
2:25 LOL the doctors reward
"Im OCD, whats their excuse?" haha, I love the Doctor!
+Victoria Caldwell i never understood that, whats ocd?
+Johann Schmidt// Red Skull A disorder where you become a perfectionist and the sl ightest mistake drives you bananas.
@@hiccuphufflepuff176 Actually, the hand washing thing is one of many symptoms that isn't shared by all. I'm OCD (diagnosed when I was a kid). The hand washing thing is the media go to thing to symbolise it. But there's so much more to it.
This is why Matt Smith is my favourite doctor, he’s hilarious 🤣
The doctor is literally in a time machine, dude has just got to say he'll do it and then do it later
If Cybermen are(or at least were) humans... does it mean he's actually talking to a human decapitated head?! o.O
+Pelerin985 No, he mentions it got cleaned out.
Actually I believe at this point cybermen could convert any species. This was mentioned in the episode with the cyber planner.
The cybermen can upgrade dalek technology but to the daleks it would be abomination
Oh shit
Oh… how I miss actual Doctor Who. That was glorious. Just for a few minutes. If only it was that good today.
first onto a dalek ship with a dalek eye stalk then onto a cyberman ship with a cyberman head! Whats next a sontaran ship with a battered and shot up sontaran helmet?
or a slitheen ship with a stuffed slitheen arm and/or vinegar?
Likely fish and chips with lots of vinegar.
or a potato for the sontarns xD
Or he could keep the eye stalk and pick a different ship. But that would be too easy and this IS the Doctor we're talking about.
@Harry Potter Fan AVGCP more like a Judoon ship with a broken off Judoon horn (since they *are* Rhinos).
Matt's final episode was pretty good, but my main issue is that Moffat should have thought out the resolutions to his story arcs a bit more. Still, good though. I'd say everything to do with the characters was better than the plot itself.
Cryer24597 tbf matt had said he was going to stay for series 8 so wen he decided to leave moffat had to squeeze alot into series 7 meaning it didnt work quite as well as it could have
I wished it was a two-parter just like the End of Time
Cryer24597 I can see why it wouldn't have been better, but all I really didn't like was how Moffat rushed the Doctor's time on Trenzalore was.
Just as it easy to deduce whom the Doctor is (even Clara knew of him when she read about him in that book)
In a mega short short Version ill explain whom the Doctor is and whom the Master might be from that.
Step 1 understand that there is more then 1 Universe at work in Doctor Who.
Step 2 understand that there was a Universe before time began in this Universe where our Doctor comes from (was born on, not hown in the show, but it has been sneakily mentioned see step X for an explination) (several times this have this with a previous Universe been mentioned in classic Doctor Who, Terminus is 1 example)
Step 3 that previous Universe had a Earth just like our Earth in it. (see step X for why we know this
Step 4 That previous Universe had a character we know as (Face of Boe) in it and "he" Caused the timeline in that previous Universe to change. (not shown in Doctor Who but see step 5 for explination on how we know this)
Step 5 Jack Harkness and Face of Boe is not the same person but they have the same role in each Universe.
(acctully one of the last final acts in the Classic Doctor Who timeline (seen in episode Doomsday) was to secure the birth of the Doctor)
An ordinary woman from our Earth traveling to the previous Universe and there having a kid with a man from that Universe Earth.
In the classic Doctor Who series Amy Pond never had any periods
In the new Doctor Who timeline/seires Amy Williams always had periods
and they rememberd each others memories just like Clara could remember her "timeline" she never lived for during that 1 day in Journey to the center of the TARDIS.
(thru the exposure to a timevortex/craxk in time)
step 13 the last step for now.
Realise that the Opeing credits since "1963" infact since the colourisation of DOctor Who the opening credits have shown us what timeline have been active in Doctor Who (Since 9th Doctor we have been seeing 2 timelines (except for during seires 7 part 2 that only had the new timeline active in the opening credits.)
Ok there you have a starting grasp on what Doctor WHo is all about.
Ill Just end with
In the previous Universe there was a another Doctor with a timemachine and that Doctor Ended up as the Curator over/for the survivors from that Earth in this Universe 65 million years ago and that Doctor had his Timemachine end up as a dark tower in a dead Zone on Gallifrey just like our Doctor one day already has done in the future as seen in the past (last christmas special)
Cryer24597 That was the extreamly short short version as i just began with saying the bare minimum.
Literally just found out that Handles is voiced by Kayvan Novak
Nandor the Relentless.
“Cyberman-only meeting, Guillermo.”
I wish Handles had been around for more episodes. I enjoyed him/her/it.
On a dalek ship with a broken dalek, then on a cybermen ship with the head of a cybermen
"No,nononono,not now,remind me later"
"When"
"I don't know,just later,just pick a time"
_"When"_
"I dunno just any all time, just when you think I've forgotten"
*_"When"_*
"Just pick a random number, express that number as a quantity of minutes so when that time is elapsed remind me to patch the telephone back through the console unit."
"Affirmative"
The Doctor predicted bots like Amazon Alexa
Handles is the best Cyberman to ever live

Conceptually, these stories are simply fantastic. I'm so glad this legend returned.
"I'm OCD, what's their excuse?" the things i never catch XD
My favorite doctor of the show...
Cute, but he looks and acts like a kid. And his friends are kids.
lol this scene is 100% hilarious. From Clara and the Doctor to the fact that handles has a brilliant personality.
I was today years old when I found out that Handles is voiced by Nandor The Relentless from What We Do In The Shadows (the TV show).
I was today years old. Your tomorrow years old
"use your head it's not as if you've got a lot of alternatives" I was laughing so hard
Handles: "You did not specify a preference."
11: "Use your head! It's not like you have a lot of alternatives."
Well that much is certain.

God I miss Matt Smith
This is more like old eleven (: Second half of series 7 he seemed a bit more serious and responsible like he had to take care of Clara a bit, but this is like he was with the Ponds, more talkative and flappy and chirpy :P
I'd love to see the Cybermen from Old Doctor Who (From the early 80s circa Earth Shock) make an appearance and have a face-off between them, the new Cybermen and the Daleks.
at 3:41 why does the time rotor look melted??
I guess it might have been damaged by pyrotechnics? It happens sometimes
" *I need you I'm cooking christmas dinner* "
" *IM BEING SHOT AT BY CYBERMEN* "
I'd rather the cybermen.
I wish I could try TARDIS turkey
Ya know, if it weren't for how absolutely brilliant David Tennant was, I'd say that Matt Smith was the best Doctor of New Who. He's awesome and super fun.
Cyberman: "ALERT ALERT, INTRUDER DETECTED! THE INTRUDER WILL BE UPGRADED!"
Which is obviously why they're firing deadly electronic pulses from their wristguns at him...
They only need his brain
Ever seen Revenge of the Cybermen? The guns don’t necessarily have to be shoot to kill. They have stun weapons, too, you know.
Some of Matt's best acting as the doctor. Performance-wise he was at his absolute peak at the end of his tenure :D
This just cracks me up everytime🤣🤣 Matt and David are my all time favorite doctors🥰🥰
I love how minutes after teleporting into a ship filled with Daleks holding a broken piece of dalek, he ends up in a room filled with cybermen while holding the head of a cybermen 💀
