I know envy is considered one of the Seven Deadly Sins, but I can't help but feel jealous over your collection. It looks like the collection screen in Bionicle Heroes (after you 100% the game). Here's a cool idea, how would it look if presented each Toa Mata and Toa Nuva with the different Kanohi they collected? I usually see the masks on display like this, and almost never on the Toa themselves.
if i came to your lego room for a visit i would go crazy by the amount of legos i can stay there forever and i would never finish looking at your legos you pretty much have the entire history of lego in your hands and can access it with a short amount of walk to your lego room its just so amazing
Not sure if someone's already mentioned this but the dormant Miru is cheap because Im pretty sure it came in the ultimate accessory canister from 2004 with 702 pieces.
Im glad that 3d printing now exists in a state where you can potentially replicate something like this and not worry that they will eventually be lost.
Epic job collecting. You went to lakeside? No way! I had some friends who went there growing up in Seattle. That’s cool to know you’re a fellow pnw dude.
Wow! I didn't know the silver Nuva masks were so expensive now. I actually own all six of them; I think I completed my Kanohi collection about six years ago, and at the time they went for about 40€ each at most, with the Miru being the really cheap one for some reason (in fact I own 2 or 3 silver Miru masks because some bricklink sellers just put them in orders as freebies). As of today my complete collection has been sitting in a box for years, but looking at your collection, you gave me the idea of displaying them on the wall as well! Dust may be a problem though... Thank you so much for showing us your amazing collection, and for the fanon reviews as well! Thanks to you I was inspired to go on bricklink and piece together the Tahtorak. I know you didn't like it that much, but with the stiffest original joints I could find I managed to get it to stand very reliably.
Aww man I remember that time; still kicking myself for not getting them at that price only 1-2 years ago... And happy to inspire! The Tahtorak honestly isn’t too too bad haha; and it’s certainly very iconic!
I'm pretty sure the Silver Miru Nuva is cheap because one came guaranteed in one of the '600+ Parts' tubs back in the day. Also, the Red Noble Ruru came in a Bionicle Alarm clock set.
@@DuckBricks Epic collection by the way, so organized. And the fact that u got combos and fanon builds at the same time as official sets is amazing. I'm motivated now haha
Impressive collection. Most impressive. When I was a kid, I wasn't intro collecting the masks themselves, I just liked having my favorite characters. But it's still nice to have a collection to show off.
I noticed that there are two colors of the golden Kanohi from 2001. One that is darker and one with a yelloish tint. I think all Masks have these. You can see the difference if you hold them in front of a light source. This effect is most notable on the Kakama and Kaukau, as they have the thinest plastic. It is nice for the Kaukau, because it makes it more transparent. I showed this effect in my last Advent of Krana Video("Advent of Krana Conclusion") at 2:20.
I just had an idea... What if very powerful toa could combine the mask powers, by wearing them on top of each-other, remember how Vakama used the mask of time in the movie? Maybe masks could melt together when they are combined, once again, remember the way Takanuva and Teridax fused into one being with their masks... It would've been such a great concept to explore for the later years of bionicle.
Can’t wait to see what misprints you end up getting your hands on. A personal favorite of mine (dream mask, if you will) is the white Huna. Nice and simple. (And also fits very well with a Toa of Plasma character I’ve conceptualizad)
You should do some videos similar to the Minifigure collection videos Brickvault does, in which all of the items are given a 360 degree look and the price is given for each individual one.
I considered that per mask a few years ago, and even illustrating their mask powers in stop motion animation. Don't know if anyone would care for it though which is why it never got made.
That’s a great idea! I actually purchased a brand new infinite white lighting studio for stuff like that so will definitely be doing some of this in the future for the most rare items!
There are some parts/masks that are nearly impossible to find, like pearl gold mask of shadows and visorak shells, since they were made accidentally during the shift from dark gold to pearl gold.
Yeah, they were only in a limited run of play sets in Pearl gold as lego swapped their gold color in 2006, so they’re super hard to come by in Pearl gold now
I distinctly remember getting wither the infected Kanohi Nuva you have or the 4th variant from a Bionicle book I got from the Scholastic book fair in 2003. I absolutely adored that mask
Just started my kanohi collection with a ebay gift card i got for my birthday my first three are going to be a copper noble huna, a gold great pakari and a trans blue noble ruru. In my kanohi holder i can only hold up to 74 but ill get another one in time this video was very inspiring thank you for keeping the legend alive.
I've always been a lover of g2, so it's really nice to see the masks all together like that. I should probably try something similar, seeing as how (most of) the g2 masks are new and cheep
I mailed my only protodermic mask (a Pakari Nuva which I got as a kid when it was released in the packs) to someone as a contest prize years ago. I kind of miss it but knowing it's in the hands of a better MOCer than I am, I can't say I regret it. The mosaics are wonderful!
Really amazing, wow! Quite impressive display you have for the sets and masks! I started collecting Bionicle Sets again this January and I already have 209 Sets, my goal is 220 G1 Sets and some of the Combiner models I really like. Kanohi and Krana aren't that important to me but I definitely want the golden Kanohi, already have 4 of them!
@@DuckBricks I'm quite proud of it, but I have the huge advantage of having saved many thousands of bucks beforehand, and might as well start spending some of that before it just sits in a bank. It's also ridiculous how much money you can save by buying tons of sets at once, My first haul was about 60 canister and small sets in great condition for like 160 bucks
So I wanted to point something out (though you may never read this comment on a 2 year old video), but the Trans Yellow and Trans Ice Blue KauKaus weren't manufacturing defects (though true they weren't intentionally released). They were prototypes when trying to figure out how to do make the Kaukaus. At one point they were considering making the KauKau the color of the Toa's eyes. So the Yellow one would have been Gali's, and the Ice Blue would have been Kopakas. Also, that's why Pohatu's is orange. They later scrapped the idea, but kept Pohatu's. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure my source on this was Greg F. himself back in the day.
Hey Chris! Wicked video! I myself own all of these and they're beautiful! I know a lot about this stuff, so let me drop some knowledge on ya! None of the masks that come in the standard 6 colors are anymore rare over each other, it's more a supple and demand situation that drives the price. So example, the clear kaukau isn't anymore rare from a mask pack than a red Hau. For years almost every mask was selling for around the same price $5ish each. The 14 misprints were officially released through the European mask packs just not for the US boxed version. The protodermic masks are rare, but they aren't as rare as people make them out to be. What happened with the price is that some guy saw there was no protodermic Akaku Nuva on bricklink at the time and listed it for a lot higher than usual, other people saw and thought it was about the correct price at the time and all the sudden they started popping up for sale more often, but at 3 times the price they were. Now it's the normal going rate! The reason the Miru nuva isnt expensive is because someone found a ton of them and flooded the market. The infected Hau Nuvas do have 4 types, I'll be making a post identifying how the easy way to tell them apart is on my page here soon. Your krana set is missing 8 krana, there's actually dark purple and light purple varieties. As for the really rare krana, you did miss a few. Here's a list! White Metal Krana Kal; 5000 produced Sterling silver krana kal; 100 produced Vacuum metal krana kal; unknown amount Grey plastic krana kal; unknown amount. The G2 masks, I have quite a bit of! So if you want I can help with some of those missing things, as well as some others.
Thanks for this super detailed comment and information! Looking forward to seeing the Hau Nuva post as well. Thanks for the tip on the Krana, I had no idea I was missing a set, thanks! And regarding the VMKKs and such - yeah, I am aware of those (and other stuff like the gold Haus and whatnot) but honestly I don’t think I’ll ever have the chance to own stuff that rare, hence why I didn’t reference them haha And will definitely reach out regarding the G2 mask duplicates I’m on the hunt for. Still working on that wanted list to send you!
I think the 4th Infected Hau is only slightly less green, and aren't they numbered on the inside? So the 3rd and 4th, while looking similar should each have their own number i think. You didn't hear you mention the Black Huna nor the Copper Huna and Komau, but i'm guessing you're getting those as well.
Interesting about the Haus, yeah I’ll have to take a closer look - and yeah, in the description I mentioned the random other colors I’m doing a separate display before
I was really lucky when I went looking for the Toa Mata a few years ago because I found a listing for all six with there canisters and it also included all the turaga and a complete collection of Gold and silver Mata Kanohi for only $90!
I am more of a ninjago guy, but I still buy any masks I can find in lots because they make for a good collection, and have massive respect for this stuff
I ... have the yellow Kaukau. I didn't know it was rare until I saw this video. I thought it was the gold variant for Gali. Funny what you can find in your lego box after so many years.
I know this might be very out dated but “bionicle universe” in netherlands 🇳🇱 has alot of different kraatas if you need them still. Good luck on getting all of them!
Oh wow. I had multiple complete sets of those proto nuva masks as a kid. I used to be super active on the BZPower B/S/T forum, and had nearly everything from 01-02. It's a shame I sold it all like a decade ago. :(
I also VERY much prefer the original masks. The redesigns just seem cluttered and very random in their design. They look less iconic, and less unique from one-another. In a group, I couldn't tell you who was who unless you put them in color for me. The originals were simple, yet awesome - clearly some thought went into their design, and they didn't appear thrown-together. I collected all the original Toa figures, and don't really have any desire to collect from there. But man, I have to say - this collection is gorgeous! I'm not even into the ongoing story of Bionicle, and what pieces mean, but I'm still drooling. Very nice collection! Edit: Holy crap! Excellent job on those mosaics too!
I only ever got one toa nuva mask pack. I got it for one of my childhood birthdays and one of the two masks it contained was a silver Hau mask. It was a bummer to me at the time as I never actually had Tahu Nuva to use it on. I also never thought it looked better than the red one anyways. I had no idea they were so rare, so I'm lucky to have held on to it. I'm not a mask collector but maybe I will sell it one when I am tight on cash. It's strange to think I can trade it in for a Brutaka if I wanted to.
I feel like if Lego were to make the Kaukau using modern colours and casting, they’d dual colour it so the outer section of the mask is solid colour and the inner is translucent. In the event we somehow get a new revival for Bionicle that uses similar designs to G1 as the base we see new elements like that
I dont understand why they stopped producing the mask packs. Wasnt super story relevant for the Metru arc, but then we get to Voya Nui with the mask of life, the piraka heads, karzahni. Total missed opportunities.
Amazing collection!! I was wondering about the copper colored masks, what is the story behind those? I have Vakama’s mask in that copper color and always thought it was super special
Those were copper masks of victory, which were trophies given out during Matoran Sports events like Kohlii - the Huna and Komau were the two masks made for that promotion, given out at Legoland!
What would you suggest when starting to collect the Nuva masks if you only have the base colours (red Hau Nuva, blue Kaukau Nuva etc)? I never got a chance to get the Nuva masks when they were available back in 2002-2004 because I could never find them (I have most of the original mata masks and do plan to try and get the ones I'm missing eventually, which includes the Kaukau for both Kopaka and Pohatu).
DuckBricks can you make a vedio on color coded sets for example *all red bionicles * .. And explain thier purpouse chronologically and finally explaining your favorite /and or technicality / mask etc .. Please make a all color coded if possible it would be so cool .. Like how all the red power ranger collided tht one time
Seeing your Kraata collection reminds me of how Kanye West displayed his YEEZY shoes to post on twitter! Have you seen them? The Foam RNNR, 450, and 700 V3 silouhettes look like they could belong in a similar universe... who knows maybe Bionicle has influenced his work 😭 that'd be awesome if true haha
I also would have preferred more Mata masks in more colors over the Nuva masks. The Nuva are just too big and have too much going on, compared to the simplicity and the, almost religious, design of the original 12 Kanohi masks. Best of luck to completing your collection! I finished my 2001 mask collection a couple years ago (not even going to bother with the Krana and Kratta!)
Thanks! And yeah, not a huge fan of the Nuva masks and really do with they did the Turaga masks in the standard mata colors outside of the Ruru/Matatu misprints. Would have been incredible to get those in more colors!
That’s a great idea! A Chrome Toa would look pretty cool... And yeah, they made Copper Komaus and Copper Hunas - I’ll be showcasing them in a future video!
Chris , i thought that you need to make giant video about bio G1/G2 and HF only after you finished your collection of collectibles and finished doing fanon reviews + rakhsi project + Hagah + maybe some other models i dont know about )
This will probably never happen but if lego released a huge mask bundles/packs of the 01-03 masks for like 30-50$ each I would by all 3 packs. The mask I would say are the best lego collectables next to the mini figs
Yeah, I pulled such a yellow Kaukau back then and wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be Gali's golden mask, or Pohatu's regular Kaukau. 😂 I think I ended up using it as the former, so it must still be in my Gali Mata's cannister.
When I was on bricklink, I saw the G1 toa mata masks in dark pearl gray, and light pearl gray. Anyone know where they came from? I know the light pearl gray ones are meant to be the masks before the Toa put them on (as shown in this video), but then what are they dark pearl gray ones for? Did they come in the mask packs, or a promo or something?
You are great man! Have you completed the kraata collection? I'll go check if I still have some of them, so I can send them to you for free, but I'm not sure if I still got them... I'll tell you
I do own them and they’re neat, the shadow Kraata especially, but TBH I’m not really sure how to even display Kanoka disks so the Disk of Time is just sitting around at the moment haha

Poisoned hau Nuva are from a book set at one of those school book fairs.
I also own the silver Nuva Kanohi. Love them. Got them when they where about 30 to 60 bucks a pop.
Cool! I always thought the silver mata masks were a lesser version of the gold masks, gained after collecting three of the six great masks.
It's absolutely beautiful.
Your profile pic made the comment so much better 😂
Keep up the epic vids
I feel like if Lego were to make the Kaukau using modern colours and casting, they’d dual colour it so the outer section of the mask is solid colour and the inner is translucent. In the event we somehow get a new revival for Bionicle that uses similar designs to G1 as the base we see new elements like that
Can't wait for the new mosaics!!:)
They won’t disappoint!
The mata masks are all so nice
I got all the silver Nuva Masks back when the sets were still out.
Dang, nice!
I got a Protodermic Hau Nuva for like a dollar on bricklink. I didn't think they were so rare.
Whaaat that’s crazy, yeah the prices really shot up in the past 2 years but even back in 2019 I remember passing on it for $80
I dont understand why they stopped producing the mask packs. Wasnt super story relevant for the Metru arc, but then we get to Voya Nui with the mask of life, the piraka heads, karzahni. Total missed opportunities.
100% agreed. They were still doing collectible packs all the way up to 07, so I don’t know why they stopped the masks :(
I had a silver Akaku Nuva mask when I was a kid. I got it from one of the mask packs, but I ended up trading it.... That was a mistake lol
There is Black mask for the invisibility one
Super cool masks! A goal of mine is to get all the masks one day
Man that looks so cool I would love to collect the 01 masks but they are really expensive!
@@DuckBricks I have the copper huna mask, I swear I got it in a mask pack, mustve been a happy accident.
My childhood goblin brain wanted to chew those squishy masks and bad guy worms
crazy collection
What would you suggest when starting to collect the Nuva masks if you only have the base colours (red Hau Nuva, blue Kaukau Nuva etc)? I never got a chance to get the Nuva masks when they were available back in 2002-2004 because I could never find them (I have most of the original mata masks and do plan to try and get the ones I'm missing eventually, which includes the Kaukau for both Kopaka and Pohatu).
Honestly, I’d say Bricklink is probably your best bet, followed by random ebay lots - good luck!
5:15 . . . Um, I think you got that mixed up. There is no Trans-Brown on BrickLink.
Still, very cool collection.
8:40 I was given that mask by my brothers girlfriend. I'm sure I still have it laying around somewhere. Had no idea it was rare.
Nice!!
Haha I can see the similarity
How did you mount the krana? I tried using a 1x1 liftarm, but that appears to damage the Krana a little bit
ma dude the really light kaukau i had in my collection. if i find it ill have to send it to you as a gift from one collecter to another
Ahh thanks for the offer but I actually was able to get all the Bionicle masks I was missing! Check out the pinned comment :)
Just a bit of an idea for that spare Hau. How about using it for a Toa of Sonics MOC?
Also, was there ever a Copper Mask of Victory released?
That’s a great idea! A Chrome Toa would look pretty cool...
And yeah, they made Copper Komaus and Copper Hunas - I’ll be showcasing them in a future video!
Chris , i thought that you need to make giant video about bio G1/G2 and HF only after you finished your collection of collectibles and finished doing fanon reviews + rakhsi project + Hagah + maybe some other models i dont know about )
I will definitely do that once it’s all done!
Include all 7.94k subscribers in your will. We want your bionicles in the future. 😂
I've got only one silver nuva kopaka mask and I just learned how much it costs, imma put mine someplace more safe than a junk box lol
This will probably never happen but if lego released a huge mask bundles/packs of the 01-03 masks for like 30-50$ each I would by all 3 packs. The mask I would say are the best lego collectables next to the mini figs
I didn't realize the very light blue kaukau was so rare.... I have two of them.
Yeah, I pulled such a yellow Kaukau back then and wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be Gali's golden mask, or Pohatu's regular Kaukau. 😂 I think I ended up using it as the former, so it must still be in my Gali Mata's cannister.
Dang nice haha, that’s certainly very lucky
Spends more on 5 little things than most people do on lego in a month.
I just want to say that I got a protodermic hau nuva in a 30€ ebay buy yesterday. I so yay
My favourite Mask is the Pakari mask because I have it in purple and purple is my favourite colour :D
Nice! It is one of the few to have been made in purple!
@@DuckBricks cool, been one of the few masks i've managed to preserve since childhood
25:57 than you should make some villagers like the ones in the journey to the one
What do you think?
That’s actually exactly what I’ve done! I have 3-4 of each element on my shelves and still have so many extra
I have the four infected hau nuvas, and they are all different.
So I’ve discovered! Will have to put out an update to this
I'm not very good with art, so do you have any tips on how to make the mosaic? I want to make some for myself.
Yup! I actually put out some how to videos using the LEGO Art Remix site to make your own. Have fun!
You are great man! Have you completed the kraata collection? I'll go check if I still have some of them, so I can send them to you for free, but I'm not sure if I still got them... I'll tell you
*Do you think it's possible to do.... A prototype collection?*
Ohohoh that’s a great idea
Are Shadow Kraata and the Disk of Time good collectibles to have?
Asking because those are the ones I have in my collection.
I do own them and they’re neat, the shadow Kraata especially, but TBH I’m not really sure how to even display Kanoka disks so the Disk of Time is just sitting around at the moment haha
You could rig up some sort of display using Throwbot arms.
