Terrific breakdown. Always great tips. Currently working on summertime, sound of silence and aiming for rhapsody in blue (my long term bucket list item).
Glad you enjoyed that Sam! Yes, I have that topic in my list for future videos! Thank you for the suggestion! Keep an eye on the channel😀😀 all my best, Martino
Thanks so much Enrique! :) More coming :) If you have any topic suggestions for me to do videos on feel free to let me know. I like to make videos on what people are interested in and not what I like haha Take care!
Boa noite mestre! Adorei sua aula e entendi completamente tudo de uma forma simples e bem didática. Parabéns. Sou brasileiro e sou iniciante no instrumento. Forte abraço.
Just the video I've been waiting for!!! Please Paul Desmond tutorials every month ;) I'm studying Exercise of the week #7 of my course, just a little tune in all keys :( Also working on articulation, especially soft legato :/
@@LondonSaxophoneSchool i'll try rico 2.5 this week after Vandoren 3 to test a bit strong for me , i'm a beginner but i want to improve my sound and music theory so many thanks for your job;)
Thank you so much for all of your videos. Is it best to tongue the groups of notes individually or use one complete breath? Can you recommend any books on saxophone music? Thank you!
Glad you are enjoying videos SkullBone Fortnite Films! If you are referring to the 16th notes no need to tongue them, just slurred them all. There are many saxophone collections, just depends what type of music you want to play :)
Really good vid great breakdown easy to follow a tune i want to try and play but have failed many times, post more vids if you have time they help people like me slow learners..pete. Alicante Spain
Great tutorial about Take Five, thanks! My main struggle on this piece (for now) is the articulation. Other than the 16th notes in the A part, do you tongue every single note or do you use some other pattern like Bebop tonguing for the 8th notes for example?
Thanks so much! Yes, I do use the jazz articulation all the time and ghost some notes in the B section as well. Tonguing every single note can be done but it looses a bit of swing and taste :)
Thanks for your comment Nils! I did not show the fingers on purpose as the video is more about practice technique to improve the overall piece rather than showing the positions/fingers. I usually do that on more beginners pieces. I hope that makes sense. If you had any songs/topic ideas you'd like me to cover in the future, just let me know :)
@@LondonSaxophoneSchool That would make your excellent tutorial perfect. The practice tips that you revealed like; • simplifying bars by removing 1/16th notes • alternating quick slow patterns to master the 1/16th notes • playing every other bar of the part B. Are so helpful. Thanks for your great video, I'm now subscribed.

What a chance to only have 3 alterations. On a C melody (like on piano) we have 6 😂. But nice approach thx

Hi. I wish you has showed the fingerings. Otherwise very good.

What a shame you hid the view of the sax with the music staff.
Seeing which fingerings (Bb for example) you used would have been nice.
I totally hear you on this, Mike! I will try to add a second camera for future pieces. Would that help?

Desmond did not have the heavy tongue you have.
That is not heavy tonguing.
