The thing is, Derek Trucks is equally as good as a lead player without a slide. His solo on “Crying Over You” from the Let Me Get By album of TTB is ridiculous.

That 335 is magical. I’ve never been good enough to vocalize on guitar, but it’s awesome to see how it’s done. Derek trucks seems like a real cool cat. Looks like him and his wife maybe have a show here in Chicago very soon across the street from where I work. Might have to check it out

Bruh you’re phrasing is immaculate. It’d be so cool if ya would go through your phrasing approach too.

My mind has been blown! What gauge strings do you use? On that first lick you end up bending 2.5 tones. I am too fearful of breaking my string to even try it…

Killer lesson! Tried to do everything but still, dereks phrasing as well as yours are just too good for me😂 What backing track did you jam to? Id love to use it too lol

Nice. I can play some of the Allman Bros. slide licks, without a slide, that have had folks ask me what I’m doing.
Chris Buck does some of those slide sounding licks, without a slide. With the bending, then going down, or up, to another note.
I’d tell anyone to checkout Ban Harper’s late 90’s live slide playing. He put on some amazing shows, using a volume pedal on one foot, and a wah on the other, with a Hawaiian instrument called a Weissenborn.
He still goes off sometimes, but has had another lead player, in most of his bands since the early 2000’s. That 90’s work has some excellent slide work, and his electric stuff, is similar to what Randolph was doing.
He and Jack Jonhnson, both opened for Harper a lot back then, before Johnson blew up huge.

I'll have to get WAYYYY more precise with my bends to do some of this.... but I just discovered Derek Trucks, and man is this a sweet sound.

    Thank You very much.
    That's very helpful. Thank You.
    The Slide Guitarist
    Dylan Adams from Florida
is excellent, as good as Derek Trucks yet his guitar is in Standard Tuning as opposed to Derek Truck's Open E tuning.
    Peace.

Great playing! It's really sounding like slide! What size of strings you're using? It's 10's or 9's? What guitar gear you use here (amp etc)?

Your clickbait titles are almost as bad as your videos. No one can play like Derek Trucks, let's be real.

This has very little to do with Derek Trucks and how he plays with or without slide, it's a bit of blues closer resembling Scott mckeon and there's a bit of sacred steel without a slide in there. Come on man you're a more than capable player, you should be able to discern that!
