I just love the look Kirstie gives Scott before his solo, and the one Scott gives Kirstie before hers.
The love and admiration they have for each other is palpable.
Prue respect, pure love, pure family response from Kirstie & Scott. This is such a wonder song and video!!! definitely one that deserves more attention 😊

One thing it's kind of easy to forget about this video is that it was actually recorded live for the PBS show it was broadcast on. It wasn't performed live at the time, but recorded earlier and shown on the broadcast. But it WAS recorded live, so Kirstie hit that note and the riff afterwards when she needed to - and it sounded beautiful! I love the little smile she has at the end of the song - she knows she nailed that!

First time I saw this, my jaw dropped through the floor. Like, broke floorboards and sunk into the foundation of the house, it dropped so hard. I knew she could hit high "Mariah" notes, but something about this performance just stunned me.

Fun reaction. If you aren't aware, this is from the 1996 musical "Rent". It has a more nuanced/poignant feeling in the context of the musical where several of the characters have HIV/AIDS and its the contemplation of how do you measure a life, that now likely faces an untimely end. You measure it in love.
I was gonna make that same remark. A very powerful rendition of a very powerful song, from a very powerful work of theatre!
I'm 70 years old. I remember the eighties vividly; I lost three gay friends to AIDS. I've watched gay friends establish homes with their beloved partners (not "husbands" because gay marriage was still illegal), knowing *_in advance_* that they would lose those partners to AIDS, because that's what Love does. 💔 😢
I've never seen _"Rent,"_ but for those of us who remember the time when AIDS was an automatic death sentence the context of this song is quite clear.
Honestly... I haven't seen it. I shall have to look it up!
it's a great musical with such deep meaning! I've seen the movie as well as the live stage troup performance! both were outstanding!! "RENT" is a must-see in order to fully understand this song!

I love the musical play "Rent" and this is my favorite song from the musical. Have you seen "Rent"? You may like it. Pentatonix performed this for the PBS July 4th special during the height of the pandemic so everyone was outside and on the roof of the building. Thank you for the reaction.

Great reaction to a wonderful performance of this song. The whole video, including all the clips at the beginning, just make me smile. And Kirstie's part at the end is amazing. I'm not sure if you know that a few years before they did this, she spent about two months as one of the lead singers in a popular Broadway show called Kinky Boots. It seemed to me like she came from that experience with even more confidence in her voice and her stage presence, and it sure showed here.
Another PTX favorite that doesn’t get enough attention is “Waving through a Window”- one of my favorites!

If you want another Kirstie song that not many reactors go for, I guess because there is no video, Over the rainbow, the one from their Classics album. I swear, you can hear Kirstie smile. I know people will scream The Wizard of Ahhhs here, and sure it's great too, and it has a video. But _Over the Rainbow_ because not many do.

Most singers would have slid up to that high note but Kirstin jumped up from the lower note and hit it solid and then followed it with that run when she had to be nearly out of air.

Water is another song that heavily features Kirstin. It's an original PTX song. You pretty much can't go wrong with any Pentatonix song. Kirstin also has some solo stuff out there that I very much enjoy as well.

Kirstie's super high notes are called whistle notes.
The musical Rent was on Broadway for years. Very diverse cast and characters, several different ethnicities and sexualities. Very popular musical with the LGBTQ+ crowd (as well as 'normal' crowd whatever that is....) and I am pretty sure a character in the musical has AIDS. I have not seen the whole musical I have just heard some of the songs.
I would love to hear pentatonix sing hold on to memories. Sounded amazing by disturbed and would like to see what they did with it and to see a reaction on this channel

Seasons of Love is from the Broadway musical Rent. It was then made into a movie 10 Years Later with five of the original seven cast members coming back. Rent is a rock musical with music lyrics and book by Jonathan larson. It is Loosely based on La Boheme by Puccini. It tells the story of a group of impoverished Young artist struggling to survive and create a life in lower Manhattan East Village, specifically alphabet city, under the shadow of HIV and AIDS. It opened Off Broadway in January and 96 and by April of 96 it was on Broadway at the Nederlander Theater. Sadly the night before it opened Off Broadway Jonathan Larson died suddenly of an aortic dissection believed to been caused by undiagnosed Marfan syndrome. Marfan syndrome often times can only be diagnosed on autopsy. Rent gain critical Acclaim and won several Awards including the Pulitzer Prize for drama awarded to Jonathan Larson post humulously and the Tony award for best musical. It closed after 12 years making it one of the longest running shows on Broadway. Many of the elements in the show were drawn from Jonathan Larson's life. I remember when it came out that it was the you must attend this show. I saw it on Broadway and it was spectacular. Rent gives voice to those who never really had a voice. I have included the link to the opening of the movie which is where Seasons of Love come from. Christy nails that note just as well as Tracy Thomas does. Even though it appeared on a Christmas album it is not a Christmas song. It just happens to start on Christmas Eve and follows a year in the life of friends for 1 year. Idina Menzel who plays Maureen went on to be Elphaba in the show Wicked. Alphabet is the green one. They've also done waving through a window from dear Evan Hansen. Kirstie's confidence was taken a few notches up after her Broadway stint in Kinky Boots. Here is the link

This is a great song for Rent, and I was very happy that they give Kirstie the chance to shine and show how good she is, people love Mitch and I get why he is fantastic and has a very unique voice, but sometime when he dosent sing the lead or the important part of the song some people complain, and also here we could see how good Kirstin is but also Scott was ameizing, love Kevin even is not the biggest percussion, and Matt does a great job sounding like there is a bass playing, and Mitch is sing with his low register witch show his versatility, and like someone comment here love the support all of them give to each other, Kirstie gives a great smile to Scott when he started singing and Scott watched Kirstie with a proud face.. Love all Pentatonix, and love your reactions you very positive and very likable

There is a song that I hope you will react to by them, and a few reactors have done it, but not a good as you will, I'm sure. The Wizard of Ahhhs by Pentatonix with Todrick Hall is so good, so different, and a must see!! It tells the story of the Wizard of Oz using todays music.
Another one not reacted to often is their version of Ride by Twenty-one Pilots. There is a live version. Mitch is in a yellow hat.
