    Many thanks for the video, saved a lot of time.
    Just to clarify for others, once you've released the bottom plastic clip behind the mirror, it is a case of gently easing the mirror off of the mount - it is simply held on by friction. The mirror glass itself is quite study as it is on a fairly thick backplate.
    Once the glass is off, to remove the indicator assembly you don't need to remove all of the screws, there are only two of the smaller ones which retain it.

    This video was very helpful
    I didn't remove all the screws in mine only the one that was in an angle. I wish I would have seen this video before I bought the part from the dealership
    would have been cheaper.
    Thanks for posting

    Good job, Ian. I recently did exactly the same thing backing out of the garage (dang elephant ears !). This is really useful install info that the local Kia dealer parts guy could not provide (so I didn't buy the part from him either).

    I have the same problem. A guy winged mine in a hit and run today. Luckily it was only the light and not the whole mirror.
    Found a replacement on aliexpress from Hitop Auto Accessories Co., Ltd-Global SUV Decoration.
    $35.00 USD and free shipping. Thanks for you vid cause now I can do it myself.
    Would have cost me $265.00CDN at the dealer plus 15%tax.

    Did it stop working? Both mirror sides have stopped working on 2011. Left blinker blinks fast? Thanks

    Ian thank you. eBay has stuff like the LED for $37.00 and other places seem to be about the same. So the (repeater) LED under the outside just pops off? I also have repeatedly modified both my mirrors the drivers side is the worst damaged. Mine is a 2011 SX.

    have you had any experience with adjusting the detent on the mirror? There is a hole and what appears to be a panel, but I can not see if there is a fastener, and if that is where to tighten the detent.

    I need to replace the turn signal in the mirror, but your video does not show how you actually removed it. Is it held in with a screw or just with clips? I do not understand why you took the mirror out and removed the screws around it. It looks like the center screw would be the only thing holding it in.

    Hello, I have a 2004 Kia optima and need to remove the mirror with backplate off, not the whole assembly that is bolted onto the door just the mirror and back plate. Would it be the same pry off method as in this video? If not how do I remove it? Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for posting. I "modified" my turn signal on the garage door too.
    So, I just need a little more detail on the mirror removal to get the nerve to attack this job.
    It looks like one of the 3 tabs is plastic and the other two spring metal.
    Does the plastic tab just pry out, or does it click in?
    I gather that you coax the mirror out by working the plastic tab with the tool at the same time pulling out near the center of the mirror.
    What is that tool called?
    Thanks
    LesB

      @syklops56  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the plastic tab clicks in. You can poke at it with the "panel popper tool" to make it a lot easier.

    I have a 2011 Kia Sorento. The turn signal light only has 3 LEDs as opposed to the four the newer models have. The part# is 876231U000. I bought it off of ebay for $100.00. the3 Four LED only cost about $35.00. The part# is 87623-2P000

    eBay.... The part was $30aud ($18ish USD) including shipping from China.

  • @BrettDalton

    Also you only need to remove 2 screws, the 2 small ones, you can use the replacement part to figure out which ones. They are the only thing holding the part in place. The rest of the case is irrelevant

    I tried to replace passenger side signal but found that after moving the bottom clip,still it would not come off.does it need a lot of force to actually pull it off.I am worried about pulling very hard.could you please advise me. Maurice

    • @syklops56
      @syklops56  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      you're gonna have to try and squeeze your fingers towards the center of the mirror and push from there, all the while trying to stick a flat head screwdriver in to pop the clips off.

    I need to replace a piece that broken under my drive side mirror. Everytime I increase my speed, there is whisking sound. Can you help me with that? Dealership is trying to charge me 450.00 for it. Not worth it.

    • @syklops56
      @syklops56  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, they were probably too lazy to look up the exact part number. It's always a better idea to go in and ask them in person (then they won't be such lazy asses). There is definitely a part # for it.
