Hey man I was wondering I’m thinking about doing the same thing with my ltz400 what else did you have to do after the rebuild after for it run right and did it sound louder or notice the power increase?
@@keithparady2594 I actually didnt get to ride it before I rebuilt the engine but I can tell you when I get it perfectly dialed in and geared it's going to be smooth and fast.
@@dbaKen thats what I thought I riped the head off to double check the valves just incase it was that but it was good so I guess imma try to rejet it thanks for the help
my original cylinder was smoked so i just threw in a 450 bb and i threw in shims that where .05mm bigger thing rips but its not as responsive and i would like any ideals on what may cause some throttle lag? almost like im in to high of a gear when i up shift from full throttle.
@@nickjohnson7841 Also , depends on the kit if they're pre gapped. Some kits will include a sheet of paper saying they're pre gapped or not but if there is no sign that they are or not it's always a good idea to double check that theyre gapped right. I've had a kit that was way off and I had to change to gaps big time.
Base gasket goes under the cylinder (probably a paper gasket), the head gasket goes on top of the cylinder in between cylinder and head (usually a metal gasket).

STILL GOING STRONG IN 2024!
This is a good channel. I hope it grows
I appreciate that!
Do I need to have the things to hold the chain from moving?
Hey man I was wondering I’m thinking about doing the same thing with my ltz400 what else did you have to do after the rebuild after for it run right and did it sound louder or notice the power increase?
Youll have to tune the carburetor , that's one of the most important things to notice all the power from the big bore kit.
You shouldn't have to do anything if it is fuel injected.
Was it worth it and have u had any problems did u have to do anything to cams or any thing else for it to run right
Been running great after I tuned the carb , no leaks , no ticks and and no smoke. I think it was worth it!
Kenneth Pickett was the power gain noticeable I’m only asking cause I don’t wanna blow her up even though it’s a bulletproof engine
@@keithparady2594 I actually didnt get to ride it before I rebuilt the engine but I can tell you when I get it perfectly dialed in and geared it's going to be smooth and fast.
What gasket did you end up using? I noticed the kit that it came with has 3 metal. Did you have to use all 3?
I’m currently doing the same build
If its riveted, its one piece , not 3 separate gaskets. I don't remember what gasket i used but OEM is best.
Did u have to jet the carb when u put this big bore on I put one on my kfx400 and it won't rev but idles great and starts right up
Yeah you'll definitely want to re jet. Especially if you have any other mods. I have my intake box lid removed so I definitely had to.

Looks good bro
Thank you!
Nice just put 2 fan on it & cuz big bored used to get to hot quick pistons rims gone in less 20 hr

tune your carb!
Awesome work, hows it holding up?
Holding up great!
Great vid man what did you torque the head bolts too?
People on the forums suggest using 43 ft lbs. The manual say 34 I believe but people didn't have problems using 43 ft lbs.
@@dbaKen awesome man thanks!
No problem!
How long was the total process
Few hours to install the big bore kit at most , not including taking the engine out and installing the engine.
What pilot & main jets did you use?
I ended up putting a 400EX Carb on it , but i plan on going back to a OEM LTZ400 carb.
Do you not have to gap the rings?
Yes always check ring gaps , in this case this ring gaps on the kit I bought were perfectly in spec.
Ok, new to quads rebuilt many motors but wasn't sure if rings came pre-gapped on jug kits. Let us know if it was worth it.
@@nickjohnson7841 I've been very happy with the kit and I haven't been easy on it at all and it starts up every time.

Do any of these big-bore kits include a new head?
Probably not. But they do make them. I bought an aftermarket one
Where did you buy your kit?
I believe it was a Niche Kit If I remember correctly. Worked on so many things I can’t reminder the specifics sometimes lol
Why there are 2 similar cilinder gaskets?
Base gasket goes under the cylinder (probably a paper gasket), the head gasket goes on top of the cylinder in between cylinder and head (usually a metal gasket).
you got the link to the manual b any chance?

Did it smoke after?
A little after startup because it burned the oil in the cylinders from installation.
Kenneth Pickett mines smoke haven’t rode it yet cause it’s weird
Might need to run it a little bit , ive had oil get stuck in the exhaust of a bike before and it made it smoke for a few days before it all burned off
