I've seen guys cut right on the edge but I think scoring it back from the edge like you did has to work better.

It looks like you are using a red dot knife but a carbon blade instead of stainless?
Yes, for PPF we use the red dot Olfa knife with carbon blades. The carbon blades require less pressure to cut through the PPF.

What if I still have tiny (2-3mm) finders appear after a day on my ppf? I used kpmf 150micron ppf and the fingers only popped up on one headlight
You can likely use a hard card to lay them down. Hard to tell without seeing them. You can always send photos to our email ocdetailing910.nc@gmail.com and we'll get back to you asap.
