I think the mashups for Cardigan, August and Willow was a genius idea. Also the lighting was superb and was approved by Ben Winston who produced the Grammys that year. As for the roof, that has significance in one of her songs in Lover where she would go to the roof to meet her lover for drinks.

When you paused the "Mean" Grammy performance at the end I was like "nooooooo!" because you stopped it right before Taylor gets a standing ovation and she is utterly shocked. The British accent was definitely because of Harry! The song is about Jake but she and Harry had *just* broken up like only a month before the performance so she was definitely still getting over him, and young enough to still be petty and announce it onstage HAHA

I’ve only just fathomed this but I think she did a medley for a reason. She needed to perform Cardigan to represent Folklore and August because it’s the greatest song of all time but I think the fact she starts with Willow in the bridge saying ‘I come back stronger than a 90s trend’ is a nod to the fact that it’s her first Grammy performance since 1989 and all the Kanye drama and she’s back and better than ever!

there's so much to unpack when it comes to taylor, her humbleness, like the small things that she does and they just become something that define her. taylor has always been so nice and kind. like whenever she presented at the grammys or received a grammy she made it a point to shake hands and acknowledge everyone involved unlike rihanna how emily pointed out that rihanna didn't even acknowledge taylor. she's just the nicest. also, to think taylor swift hasn't won song of the year which is like the biggest award for a songwriter. blank space and cardigan should have won song of the year. the lyrics were just too good along with the success those singles carried. exile should've also won, agreed with you. most people look at the fact that she has 11 grammys but forget that she's nominated 41 times. 11/41 isn't a good winning ratio. grammys have done her dirty throughout the years 😭😭😭

And it's hard to pick especially for someone who's never been in love or heartbroken (and not thought about it twice :D) and just overall doesn't like emotions and their sound is like electro pop (and you don't want to give them just rep because that would be just wrong). And another thing was that they listen to songs that have like 2 and half minute and albums 35 minutes tops, still usually don't listen to the whole album and don't pay attention to lyrics. Let's say it was hard work :D but in the end I made it and Taylor has one more fan once again!

English is not my native language, but, luckily, I was in the process of learning it, and once I found in dictionary the phrase, which sounded really cool for me: "Shake it off". So I used it during my english lesson. And my teacher and one other student told me like "Ahh! Taylor Swift!" I had no idea what they were talking about. But they told me to listen to her. And before that I knew a girl who had already recommended me to listen to Taylor before, but I didn't, cause usually just one recommendation is not enough for me. So finally decided to give her a chance. That was the second best decision I've made for the last decade of my life (the first one was to start learning English). Since then I've been diving deep into Taylor Swift's world literally every day and can't stop to wonder what an extraodinary influence she has on me. And, of course, I geniunely share my passion with all my friends, colleagues and basically everybody. How? - I simply tell the stories from my own experince, share my emotions.) Of course, it doesn't work for everybody, but it is not even my main goal. I just love to share it and cannot keep it only for myself. "Overthinking leads to under doing". Emotions are contagious. So just share it through stories. And, by the way, I am getting more and more success in introducing Taylor's music to others.)

My current theory is that Taylor is holding back from announcing a new album until after the release of Conversations with Friends, in order for Joe to be the main focus during the promotion. I think if she were to announce something big now, interviewers would ask even more questions about her than they already are. So I think she may want Joe to have his moment first. I may of course be completely wrong😅

Yeah I definitely agree that I have songs that are SO important to me for a period of time but it's few months and then they fall back on the low point in ranking (it's a Taylor Swift song I still love it but you know what I mean :D) I think it the last year or so: Stay Beautiful Mary's Song Speak Now You Need To Calm Down The Other Side Of The Door Afterglow Starlight Stay Stay Stay Dress Tbh I think I had much more of these "period" songs when evermore came out and like a year or two before that. That was always around five songs that I would listen to everyday couple of times for months and then it switched to other ones. From that I remember vividly Dear John and Today Was A Fairytale.
Seeing her perform all too well at the Grammys back then, you can really see how hurt she was and fighting back tears. But now at the SNL performance of the ten minute version, you can really see that she’s enjoying the song and what she has accomplished by writing such a masterpiece that everyone is willing to listen to for 10 minutes, and not only willing but has been asking for it all this time.
I think after rep not being nominated and her reaction to that, she did re -assess her almost toxic relationship to the grammys and comparing that to her self worth or worth of the album. and i think that's why she ended up not attending the grammys for rep or lover (or evermore for that matter). and apparently she had gone to the oscars or bafta with joe on the lover grammys night. so i think she was just trying to have a healthy relationship with awards and just having a good time instead!

I loved this. When you said something about rep being it's own sound (I can't recall if it was this vid or the last) - like Taylor created a distinct sound, I 100% have always thought that Taylor's music really does not "fit" in hit music or really any defined category to me. I love the Cardigan/August/Willow medley but I always wondered why she chose to include an Evermore song when Folklore was the album nominated. With that being said its my favourite grammy performance of hers and I do love the medley of the 3.
4:32 the award shows (Grammys, Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, and Tonys) have seen drastic drops in television viewership here in the US in recent years. I think this is due to several reasons: First, the shows themselves are SO long. The Oscars are usually four hours for example. In the age of streaming people have become impatient with sitting for four hours of commercials, etc. Not to mention anything interesting will be posted on social media almost immediately (for example Will Smith slapping Chris Rock). Another reason due to lack of interest is the politics on the shows and the awards themselves has turned-off a lot of people. For example, when La La Land did NOT win Best Picture I turned-off the TV and never watched another award show again. I say it all the time: the awards used to be about merit; now they're about politics.
The most offensive thing about the Grammy museum performances (apart from wildest dreams on electric guitar) is that I think she performed all you had to do was stay and clean but you cannot find them ANYWHERE!

also, to think taylor swift hasn't won song of the year which is like the biggest award for a songwriter. blank space and cardigan should have won song of the year. the lyrics were just too good along with the success those singles carried. exile should've also won, agreed with you. most people look at the fact that she has 11 grammys but forget that she's nominated 41 times. 11/41 isn't a good winning ratio. grammys have done her dirty throughout the years 😭😭😭

@@ricochet-ek7zb same! I had to make a 20? track playlist and it wasn't nearly enough. And it's hard to pick especially for someone who's never been in love or heartbroken (and not thought about it twice :D) and just overall doesn't like emotions and their sound is like electro pop (and you don't want to give them just rep because that would be just wrong). And another thing was that they listen to songs that have like 2 and half minute and albums 35 minutes tops, still usually don't listen to the whole album and don't pay attention to lyrics. Let's say it was hard work :D but in the end I made it and Taylor has one more fan once again!
@@ricochet-ek7zb My journey started 14 months ago. Back then I knew nothing about Taylor apart from the fact that she is probably a pop-star or something like that. English is not my native language, but, luckily, I was in the process of learning it, and once I found in dictionary the phrase, which sounded really cool for me: "Shake it off". So I used it during my english lesson. And my teacher and one other student told me like "Ahh! Taylor Swift!" I had no idea what they were talking about. But they told me to listen to her. And before that I knew a girl who had already recommended me to listen to Taylor before, but I didn't, cause usually just one recommendation is not enough for me. So finally decided to give her a chance. That was the second best decision I've made for the last decade of my life (the first one was to start learning English).
Since then I've been diving deep into Taylor Swift's world literally every day and can't stop to wonder what an extraodinary influence she has on me. And, of course, I geniunely share my passion with all my friends, colleagues and basically everybody. How? - I simply tell the stories from my own experince, share my emotions.) Of course, it doesn't work for everybody, but it is not even my main goal. I just love to share it and cannot keep it only for myself. "Overthinking leads to under doing". Emotions are contagious. So just share it through stories.
And, by the way, I am getting more and more success in introducing Taylor's music to others.)

And sure there I things I don't even want to relate to (like using drugs :D) so those aren't usually my favourites but I think it's great to experience new emontions even just through songs.

My current theory is that Taylor is holding back from announcing a new album until after the release of Conversations with Friends, in order for Joe to be the main focus during the promotion. I think if she were to announce something big now, interviewers would ask even more questions about her than they already are. So I think she may want Joe to have his moment first. I may of course be completely wrong😅

Tbh I think I had much more of these "period" songs when evermore came out and like a year or two before that. That was always around five songs that I would listen to everyday couple of times for months and then it switched to other ones. From that I remember vividly Dear John and Today Was A Fairytale.

Seeing her perform all too well at the Grammys back then, you can really see how hurt she was and fighting back tears. But now at the SNL performance of the ten minute version, you can really see that she’s enjoying the song and what she has accomplished by writing such a masterpiece that everyone is willing to listen to for 10 minutes, and not only willing but has been asking for it all this time.
I think after rep not being nominated and her reaction to that, she did re -assess her almost toxic relationship to the grammys and comparing that to her self worth or worth of the album. and i think that's why she ended up not attending the grammys for rep or lover (or evermore for that matter). and apparently she had gone to the oscars or bafta with joe on the lover grammys night. so i think she was just trying to have a healthy relationship with awards and just having a good time instead!

When you said something about rep being it's own sound (I can't recall if it was this vid or the last) - like Taylor created a distinct sound, I 100% have always thought that Taylor's music really does not "fit" in hit music or really any defined category to me. I've always felt that there was something specific to her that she brings with her music. It feels so validating to hear you voice it too. Thank you!

I love the Cardigan/August/Willow medley but I always wondered why she chose to include an Evermore song when Folklore was the album nominated. With that being said its my favourite grammy performance of hers and I do love the medley of the 3.

4:32 the award shows (Grammys, Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, and Tonys) have seen drastic drops in television viewership here in the US in recent years. I think this is due to several reasons: First, the shows themselves are SO long. The Oscars are usually four hours for example. In the age of streaming people have become impatient with sitting for four hours of commercials, etc. Not to mention anything interesting will be posted on social media almost immediately (for example Will Smith slapping Chris Rock). Another reason due to lack of interest is the politics on the shows and the awards themselves has turned-off a lot of people. For example, when La La Land did NOT win Best Picture I turned-off the TV and never watched another award show again. I say it all the time: the awards used to be about merit; now they're about politics.
