Why should it be elevated when there is an existing grid level SGR rail track? The blue line was elevated because of the ocean crossing and several bodies of water along the route. It wasn't became they felt like elevating, it's based on the terrain.
Why generalize? It's just like saying or asking if America or Canada are serious with the amount of homeless people you'd use when using the train rides.
Trains are not built for the poor anywhere in the world, they are built for those who are willing to pay for the swiftness and comfort of the train. A ten minutes ride in U.K cost nothing less than ten thousand when converted to Nigeria naira. You think that's cheap? If the train fare come cheap and the income doesn't meet up with the maintenance of equipment and payment of staffs and the service eventually shutdown due to lack of funding people will say the government cannot maintain infrastructure. Do you expect the government to set up rail infrastructure and then continue disbursing money for maintenance? No! The infrastructure is going to fund itself from the money it is generating, if the infrastructure is under generating then it is definitely going to close down.

@@kensburg2660 I have few things to say to you, it might be a lot, depending on how it comes but you asked for it. First of all I do not appreciate you calling my motherland a shithole, as a matter of fact I am 80% certain that it's the passport of the same country you called a shithole you used to travel to wherever you are. So respect that name Nigeria even if you do not respect yourself. Secondly, I do not appreciate you calling me names or asking me to shut up. I wasn't rude in my initial comment, you can drop your point without being rude, this is a public space and you have to respect yourself if you want to awarded the same level of respect. Thirdly, it's not about my travel experience or where I live, from your response to my comment it's obvious that you try to fake intelligence by association it with your country of residency. However you are a foreigner there and you will forever be because that's the default setting of reality, but you can choose to be delusional, I wish you well in wonderland. You said you have this and that in your country of residency, I want to ask you questions. How long have those trains been in operation? When were they built? Are there on going construction of metro projects in that country? Are there several undeveloped rail corridors in that country? Are there intentions to use the revenues generated from those rail lines to construct more rail infrastructure? I appreciate comparison but I do not tolerate silly comparisons. The first fully operational metro in Nigeria opened last year in Lagos (the one in Abuja opened in 2018 and it was in test running phase the till it shut down in 2020 everybody already knows why) and you expect the rail service to be cheap? The red line is currently running on diesel engine and it's the fourth functioning metro line in Nigeria. (Abuja currently has two functioning lines. Ridership is free till December) It is very silly if not stupid to make comparisons to a country that has connecting metros. The two lines in Lagos are not even connected yet and you want to compare to where again did you say you reside? If you want to make comparison the smartest way I believe is that you bring in two to three other countries and compare them. I used U.K as an example, there is a huge difference in exchange rate, if you wanted to prove your point with what you said about where you live I expected you tell us the price of the shortest distance and compare with that of Lagos and not just coming online to prove to us that you lack home training or had a rough childhood. If I am to ask you where you are from in Nigeria, you're definitely not from Lagos and I'm quite sure there is no metro line in your state (there is none in mine too I'm being factual) but I will suggest you tell your government to make rail transportation cheap once they are done with developing their own metro line. So that they can borrow loans to finance the construction of the other rail lines. The likes of you will be the ones comparing the construction cost of Ethiopian light rail to that of Lagos blue line Metro without considering that they were built in different land terrains and that the blue line has over a kilometer of elevated tracks that cuts across the Atlantic. Learn to be civil and respect yourself in public places to avoid embarrassment. Of all places to claim it's Turkey you're bragging about as if that's proof that you've made it in life.
It's way more cheaper than the regular public transportation, since I started using the blue line from mile 2 to marina i never wish to go by bus ever again 😅😅
@kingmiller7566 1 to 2 thousand naira, what about the millions of poorly paid citizens and some have to take two to three buses to get to work, the government should subsidise it, the government is nothing whatsoever for the people, they are just stealing all the money, while the majority suffer.
How many? I live in the uk and we don’t have high speed trains, neither does America. The only countries with high speed trains are Japan, France, Spain and China. Also you can’t have high speed trains running on a metro system in a big city. This is good progress for Nigeria. Not many countries have good Metros, hopefully we will maintain the trains. Unfortunately they are not cheap to run and the prices will have to go up if Nigerians want to use such things, they will need to start paying regular tax cos that’s what other countries use to maintain their public transport infrastructure. Even if it’s subsidised it still comes from tax payers money unfortunately most Nigerians don’t pay tax but they want to enjoy the best things in life. Niger delta oil and gas is not enough to sustain 230 million people without taxation.
Fun fact: The Lagos Redline is the FASTEST train in AFRICA 330 kph, Morocco 320 kph, Tanzania 160 kph and Kenya 120 kph. Like the pinned comment said, the Talgo Red line isn’t meant for the Metro, it will be replaced when the actual trains for it are brought early next year. The Talgo will be used for interstate, it’s just substituting for now. You can read it up.
Maybe the view is not all that, that is why they made the chair like that. Did you really say that? Does that make any sense to you? a train that was not built in Nigeria. A train that was originally built for the Milwaukee, USA metro train service.

I know about those train because I am a Nigerian living here in the U.S. I remember not long ago when the mayor announced that the Talgo built Milwaukee trains will be sold to an African country. I will subscribe to your channel now and good luck on your growth.
The trains were originally designed for inter State travel. There are temporarily being used for the red line till the rolling stock for the redline arrive from China. They are going to go back to their original purpose which is to run along the Lagos Ibadan corridor.
@@gardensteps Milwaukee didn’t really reject the train. It’s a long story. In summary, there were accusations of the former Governor of Wisconsin using tax payers money inappropriately to purchase the train from Talgo. A new governor, Scott Walker came into office and shut down the contract the former governor had with the contractor named Talgo whom is the train manufacturer. There were lawsuits, political opposition & interests. At a point, the court moved the trains from the state of Wisconsin to the next neighbouring state of Indiana. The whole thing was a mess. I only showed more interest when I heard my native country of Nigeria is about to purchase it from the state of Wisconsin. If not, I wouldn’t have known the history of the redline train that ended up in Lagos, Nigeria. Milwaukee loss became Lagos gain.

I am shocked at the low level of passengers on this red line,l was thinking it will be more popular than the blue line..Many lagosians must moved to lekki axis then.ln those days in lagos the mainland holds all the population.I talked about the seat as well when l first saw the trains, some lagosians called me all sort for saying the seat is too high.I was even surprised to hear the governor saying the same thing the day he commissioned the red line.lt's a metro, people get on and off quickly, most people would only know from the view if they are getting closer to their stop by looking out and then making their way to the door.Annoucement and Station display board won't solve that...People have headphones on,might not see the display Station from their sitting position, only looking out the view would tell them were they are....I am sure the authorities will realise this mistake when the train get busier and make the chsnges.Anyways,a very nice development in lagos state,l hope,l keep hoping other states would start building metro as well.Have a good evening.Cheers.❤
@@suntanglory as time goes on more people will use it. It reminds me of the blue line although it wasn't nearly as empty as this because there are more people moving from the mainland to island I suppose. Reduced costs of construction
@@DAMINATION_1 Ah
Why should it be elevated when there is an existing grid level SGR rail track?
The blue line was elevated because of the ocean crossing and several bodies of water along the route. It wasn't became they felt like elevating, it's based on the terrain.
Why would a ride on a regular train blow someone's mind?
I TRIED TO USE IT ON THURSDAY BUT THE MUSHIN TRAIN STATION IS CLOSED RUBBISH 😂
Oh I did not get to mushin …..maybe you went in the afternoon, morning/ evening is the perfect time to go

11:05 Nigerians are not serious. See how those guys are walking undisturbed around the track.
Why generalize? It's just like saying or asking if America or Canada are serious with the amount of homeless people you'd use when using the train rides.
The REALITY is that this lagos train (whether red, yellow, blue or orange) is not meant or designed for the poor.
Ok. You want them to reduce the price to 5 naira ?

Nigerians with funny mentality and way of thinking and the guy is right. How much is minimum wage in that shit hole? Here in Turkey we have monthly city travel card that can be used for city buses, metro buses, ferries and trains, paying for monthly or daily commute and very affordable or I’ll say cheap according to the minimum wage and the prices differ for regular commuters while students, teachers and senior citizens get very good discount and completely free for cops n military personnels
Ridership is free till December)
It is very silly if not stupid to make comparisons to a country that has connecting metros.

Free WiFi - password? I don’t understand
When other countries are riding on high-speed trains
How many?
