It always amazes me how much of a difference 15 minutes working on, even an overwhelming space, can make! I too have a creative area for crafts, sewing, yarn work, candle making, and so much more 🤦♀️😂. It’s so nice for things to be organized so u can find your stuff and actually do these hobbies. 🤗🤗🤗
Another cross stitcher here. Your black and white piece is gorgeous! Hope you’ll find time to finish it for your mom. Great job getting everything reorganized.
For us, the hobby room is the game room. It tends to stay somewhat clean because we use it often, but the occasional clutter still happens. Thanks for the reminder to keep up with it! 🥰
It's so wonderful to not only watch your great videos each day, but also to read the other comments posted here. This is such a wonderfully encouraging group, and it really helps to know I am not alone in my battles! God bless you, Steph! You are making such a positive difference in the world. :)
I recently reorganized all my boardgames onto one bookshelf, and all my gym/sports equipment onto another. But my gym bag is coming apart and I've been avoiding repairing it because I hate to sew. I will get that done today.
My daughter had surgery this morning. Thankfully everything went well, and she’s doing great. I decluttered in the kitchen this afternoon. One of my favorite “hobbies” is cooking… and eating. 😂 I know I’m making good progress when I can get rid of shelving!!!! So exciting. I had too many shelves in the kitchen and one just collected junk. It feels better to have it gone, and to have just what we need and use.
I'm a quilter and I love, love, love those bins. I have a lot that I use for project boxes, one project per bin. They also fit my art supplies, like bottles of acrylic paint standing up and my many tiny containers of glass beads. They are light enough for this old lady to pick up and carry, they stack well empty or full, they keep everything clean and dust free, and I can see what's inside!
I like a long TH-cam video as much as the next person. But I really appreciate how short and to the point your videos are. It makes it seem like my own clutter is manageable. 😉
I love your blackwork piece. I do blackwork, hardanger, cross stitch etc. There are wuite a few you tube channels sbout blackwork that will encourage you to finish that piece!
I love this challenge! My card making area is the most disorganized part of our home. Thank you for encouraging me to declutter and organize my supplies. I now have a pile of cards to donate to the local Nursing home. 😊
Such a great habit for your children to learn to put their things away. Stephanie know that all these things you are doing your children are soaking in and someday all this will show in their homes and habits! Looks great! Have a blessed Easter!!! He is risen!
Your cross-stitch project is beautiful. I hope you’ll show us the finished piece:-) I need to remember: five minutes/day is much better than no minutes/day and just do it. My living room has become a jumbled craft area: so five minutes to find charts and fabric to donate to a fundraiser!!
I love the idea of a box a day. I inherited all my Mom’s scrapbook stuff when she passed away. It was 9 years ago February. She used to be a Creative Moments consultant. I was able to go through one box and ended up getting rid of over half of it. Thank you so much for the motivation.
YAY craft room decluttering. For me it's 1. Drawing, painting and stationary stuff, 2. Sewing, knitting and crocheting stuff. And I don't even have a designated craft room so the timing for this video is perfect.
I am loving these videos. The only bad part is I watch them every morning before I go to my daughter's to babysit. I do the decluttering and organizing at her house. Four day weekend for me starting today. Let's see how much I can get done! Thank you Steph!
My husband built me an entire wall of drawers and a Cabinets in my craft room. I’ve organized many of them but there’s still stuff that needs a home! Great job on your room!
I got rid of a TON of craft supplies, yesterday! I was only going to rearrange a shelf in the closet and I ended up decluttering the whole crafting area! Yay!!!
Thanks for welcoming us along with you in your journey. My house is so much better since watching your videos! Love your local gift idea. Really really helps small businesses and communities. What a wonderful idea.❤️
Your tip about only buying storage containers that are continually made and replaceable is so good. When you organized your sister’s spices you mentioned it and that was a big learning moment for me. Thanks!
The calm music for this project is so perfect. Sorting through projects and making decisions is so much harder for me than decluttering a closet or some other things.
Oh YES! My craft room needs this even though I did it a year ago... it has become the "catch all" for things. Since I'm painting my condo... the wall paint and accessories are stored here as well. The craft room is my weekend project... so this week I get and extra day! Yay! One thing that really helped was organizing all the crafts and supplies into "zones".... quilting and fabric, drawing and pens/markers/pencil crayons, painting, books, office supplies, etc. Each category is delegated to a specific chest of drawers, bins, or bookcase. It does keep all the supplies better organized. Now if I can stop putting miscellaneous stuff on the big clean table!
My craft room is still a mess, but I've been working on it. I've given away so much paper crafting supplies! I use to make cards all the time, and had so much supplies. Thanks Steph for being a great example of letting it go!
Last year I decluttered my hobbies. Not the hobby stuff, but how many hobbies I do. Now down to jigsaws and rock painting, and doing so much more of each now.
I’m here bagging up Easter treats while watching you declutter 🍬🍭🐣🍭🍬 I love bins that stay in stock and are all matching also ♥️ Thanks for keeping my mind busy while I’m having a hard time staying awake 😍😂
Whee! I know you are feeling good about your crafts! I’m an art teacher so I have tons of stuff at school but I have paired down my supplies at home. You are really getting things done around your home! You are so motivating! Enjoy your day!😊
Oh, I accidentally started this yesterday. I could open a wool shop! It’s nice to feel I’m not the only one. It was also nice to be amongst fun things and get some unfinished projects back on the go so it’s not just work and house organising. SO glad to be doing this alongside others.
I tackled my sewing area as a Big Project over a long weekend. It makes it so much easier to spend time sewing - no cleaning up and trying to find things before I can even start!
I need several cups of coffee before tackling this one ☝️ I have a habit of starting and stopping because of distractions 🛑 on craft room. So I set a timer. I work for 1 hour at a time per day on it. It works like a charm. I have made great progress! 🐇🐇🐇
This is my weakness too. I have a whole hobby shop room in our house for my crafts then two chrome campers outside that I’m setting one up for my online thrift shop and the other one as my craft shop. I love it. Was planning on tackling my hobby shop today so thank you for this video. I’m working right along with you. This was the perfect day for this. You rock and I want to thank you for this challenge. It has been so helpful and I’m sad on the weekends when there’s no new videos 😩😩
I’ve been working on my quilting room for a few days now because we got over 36 inches of snow since Tuesday night. Since I was snowed in it was a perfect time to work on it. Won’t be going back to work until Monday. I’m loving the progress I’m making!
I watch these videos at work and I work in a group home so I’ve been very busy cleaning out all our cupboards. It’s so great to do this at work. We’ve got a lot of stuff we can get rid of.
I’m not decluttering every day, but I am using these daily videos to help motivate me to tackle a declutter project 1-2x/week. I had a large cardboard box filled with “filing” that I was dreading dealing with, but after 30 minutes it’s now all gone!!! Yaaaaay and Thanks Steph, for your channel!!
When I first got married, I had an entire craft room. It was huge. Then, we moved and it turned into a closet. Now, four kids and another move later, we’re down to a cabinet. Mine was already mostly organized, but I added labels and cleaned out several items I done use anymore.
My watercolor studio. Shared my space with my grandson when he was taking art classes in high school, and I'm finally reclaiming my room. Thanks for the inspiration!!
This is also my big project. Been trying to work 15 min a day in there. I did craft shows during the holidays and had everything out. Some was taken to the living room in misc totes. Getting things put back to their real containers now so I can gear up for this year’s shows. Thanks Steph!! Love the unicorn! 🦄. Hugs Em. 🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷
Good morning Steph and everyone. This is one of the most difficult things for me. There is a ton of unfinished projects. I'd like to finish most of all, many of them to donate to charity shops. Whenever I open this space, I get lost. Thanks for this motivation. I'm starting today. Holy and Happy Easter 🌼💜🙏🇵🇹
Loving this series ❤ I would definitely say that as your children get older you will find time to pick up older projects or hobbies. My children are now 14 and 11 and over the last couple of years I've been able to pick up my cross stitching hobby and reading books again with minimal interruption xx
I love your reminder that doing even one box a day will get it done eventually! So often we leave stuff undone because of fear... but we just need to START.
Last fall I bought a couple wire racks (for a good price at Costco) - one is for beads & the other is for all other crafts. I was doing so well! Then I decided to learn watercolor painting ... here we go again, LOL! But I just cleaned up/cleared out/organized my painting stuff a couple weekends ago, so progress there too.Steph, imagine how much you'd be going through now if you hadn't done your huge craft declutter a while back at your old house! That hard work is paying you benefits now. 👍😊
I have been homeschooling my children for the last 24 years. My youngest is in ninth grade and it is time to do a major purge. This is my spring (maybe even a little summer) project!
We had a holiday yesterday, I also had my child at home and was preparing everything for Easter. Decluttering my hobbies would be two different things: sports clothes, which I just did and my sewing stuff, which is a hobby on hold until I get my sewing machine repaired.
My craft room is a disaster. I did a big purge in the fall and sent things to my grandson’s school for their maker’s space. There’s still more to do. I’ll start by clearing my desk for 15 minutes today. Hopefully, I can do that every day until its done. I love this series and all of your encouragement. 😊♥️
My hobby/addiction was Scrapbooking. I had an entire room dedicated to this one hobby. I LOVED making scrapbooks with all the photo memories of our lives. I did it for about 20 years and had collected so many stickers, scrapbooking papers, punches, tools, etc. that went along with the hobby. When I went back to work I no longer had the time or the desire to continue making scrapbooks. I had packed it in a closet which filled the entire double closet. Every time I looked at that closet I felt such a weight, mainly because of the thousands of dollars I had spent on the expensive tools, etc. For years I thought about what I was going to do with all of it- try to sell it or give it away. I finally decided to post it on Facebook for free and a friend's daughter said she would love to have it. She was an Art teacher with limited funds. I can't begin to tell you what a weight was lifted when I just got rid of it ALL!
Thank you so much for the encouragement that even five minutes will make a difference, and to choose one thing to work on if the whole project seems overwhelming. I have a guest/craft room that all three of my daughters rotated through and left stuff behind in. I have been working on it for sometime, and even felt like I made obvious progress a few times only to have it explode back into chaos when we did a project somewhere else in the house. This video gives me hope and motivation!
Thank you, Steph. This series helps me get out of inertia or fear about decluttering and organizing. I moved over a year ago and it feels overwhelming.
Well, I actually did this a few weeks ago. My hobby is house plants. I gave away a whole bunch I wasn’t in love with anymore, along with a whole lot of plant pots I knew I would never use again. Feels so much better, cleaned off shelves and reorganized them. Found I now had room for a couple of plants on my wishlist!😁🪴🌿
I have really pared down my scrapbook supplies after realizing I'd never use most of it. In a way it was sad because part of it feels like losing an identity but I also realize the season I'm in, I just won't be an "avid" crafter. Thanks for these videos, worth repeating that I love you showing us your older non Pinterest perfect home. 🥰
I just said recently, I have been intending to get to the board games. Some are in their original shrink wrap, as they were gifts. My sister gave me many of them. I promised to take pictures of them to ask her if she wants any of them for her game nights, before I put them on my Facebook free page. [This is a lesson for me to not give people what I want, but give people what THEY want.] And why not do this for her? She gave me many of them. I have to take pictures for the Facebook page anyway. Thanks for always having an alternate opportunity. Happy Easter and Passover to all who celebrate. Happy Spring.
This series is spurring me on. I’ve condensed my craft stuff to one small desk, but the top had been piled with lots of stuff. Glad I spent 5 minutes to get a clear surface.
For this challenge, I cleared a special place in my closet to store all of my "hobby" stuff. I was able to go through all of my bins and seperated them so they are more easily accessible. I have a yarn/crochet bin, a scarobooking bin and an art supply bin. I haven't touched most of this stuff for awhile and this challenge has inspired me to start a new project!
My craft/eBay/sewing/office room is a work in progress. I cleaned up my office area as part of the zone cleaning for this week. I am going to tackle the craft/DIY area tonight when I get home from work. I need to declutter more so I have room to work on the things I want to create. It is so much more fun when you have room to move. I am in the process of making an address sign for my patio. Thanks Steph for all your motivation!
I destashed so much yarn over the past few years, but still have far too much! I think my hobby became buying yarn for a while rather than actually knitting or crocheting it! Your craft cupboard looks so organised and welcoming now. I'm not feeling well today, but your sweet encouragement to just tackle one bin definitely motivated me. I'll give it a go!
I always feel like I have to tackle a whole room in one day, so, of course, I feel overwhelmed and never begin. Breaking it into smaller tasks and shorter time frames seems like a no-brainer, but not if you struggle with being organized. Thanks for showing how it can be done in a more manageable way! 🦄
@@TheSecretSlob Oh my gosh! I've never won anything!! How exciting and what a generous prize! Thank you so much!! I'll do some thinking and email you soon! Thank you!!!💗
Its so helpful to organize craft supplies in baskets w/labels or clear bins with lids especially to contain art paper and an art cart for paint. Shelves up high are helpful for sewing out of kiddos' reach. Thanks for this great motivational video!
After moving/downsizing I had various empty boxes including some “banker boxes”. I sorted things according to what they were - knitting, quilting or sewing projects. I put these “W.I.P”s (works in progress) A.K.A. “U.F.O.”s (un-finished objects) in their respective labelled boxes. This made a huge difference right off the bat. My sewing/knitting/quilting room is also my office/den/computer room. I also made it my goal to sort through boxes of “paper” - old income tax documents, old (really outdated) utility and other bills, etc. I definitely didn’t need old documents related to my previous house. Needless to say it took more than a day - LOL - I had started some of this before but your videos have got me back on track. Thank you for being a great inspiration. P.S. I also have been working on “a place for everything and everything in its place”.
Your craft room is looking so much better already. Love the clear bins so you can separate projects but still see what’s inside. I don’t have a hobby so I am doing my kids rooms today.
I have tried so many different hobbies over the years. I need to tackle the craft room! Nice of you to offer a gift card. I also started one of those fabric books when my oldest was little. Never finished it. Yes, eventually you have to admit a project isn’t going to get finished.
Iv been putting off my craft/kids library/ and snack table and area for awhile. It's the front room of my home 🏡. And it's what you see 1st when you walk in our home. So thanks to you Steph for encouraging me to "try" and tackle that today.I will let you know the progress later. Wish me goodluck!! BTW it's Very overwhelming which I have anxiety, depression, and ADD makes it more difficult to get motivated and going. But I love watching you it helps Alot!!
My craft room is my big project 😬thank you for the motivation to chip away at it so it becomes a space that is functional sewing, kids crafts, diaper cake making items, photography And overflow pantry. Wish me luck!
I too love crafts & seem to have to go buy things that I KNOW I Have SOMEWHERE!!!! First I thought how can I do this in one day but then your final comment about one being at a time made me realize I CAN Do This!!! You're such a help!!!😊
My craft room seems to be one of the hardest places to keep tidy. It houses our homeschool storage as well, I have tried multiple times... 😅 it never lasts more than a week. I think it's time for a massive purge!! Thanks!
My hardest project if craft supplies of the grandkids..beads..baubles...etc. They come over less often and are more grown up, so I need to find a home (outside of mine!) for these supplies. I already downsized all of my sewing stuff...passed along to the grand daughter. We bought her a sewing machine for Christmas!
I like that you put everything in clear bins. It makes it so easy to see the contents when you need to grab them. I use similar bins for my ribbons and bows for wrapping. Gotta contain the glitter! Great video motivation 😁
Can’t wait to see your full craft room when it is done. This is a daunting task that I have to do bits of everyday. I know I still have too much stuff because it doesn’t stay organized. I lovingly refer to it as my “crap room”.
I did a huge purge of my fabric, redesigned my sewing studio, new paint, new cabinetry and pegboard. I could still thin out a few things. But, my garage! Oh my! 🙈🙈🙈 I park my cars inside but I need to reorganize and give it a good Spring cleaning. Thanks for the motivation!
Your embroidery is beautiful and well worth finishing. I have too many hobbies and really enjoy them. I started a needlepoint pillow when I was in high school. Now I'm many years past my masters degree and haven't touched it in years. That one should go. It's fun to revisit old favorites, and mine is watercolor painting. Setting up a simple table to work on would help you all and make it a real craft zone. Thanks for your inspiration!
I decluttered my craft supplies last month, enough to get rid of an entire dresser that was holding them. It feels so much better in my office now! I will today, however, get rid of a couple more unfinished projects (that possibly were begun in 1995 so you’re not wrong!). It’s hard to let those go but I will feel better without them. Thanks for the inspiration. 😊
I just did my craft room 2 weeks ago. Pushed myself and got it under control in a few days. Trust me when I say it was a hot mess! I don’t recommend going all day for days. But I put it off for months! I ended up donating bags of yarn, felt, paper crafts, wreath making supplies etc…All the things I’m fantasy self wanted to do. I feel so liberated And the donation shop was happy 😊
So relate to the unfinished projects! I appreciate you wanting to support local businesses with your contest - it’s such a great idea and one reason I subbed your channel!!! Also love your encouragement and steady progress - it’s an inspiration!!!
Wow, my crafts (and my books) have been the hardest for me to declutter! And this was your topic today! I had a 38 year accumulation that mostly started right before I had my first child. And then when the ex-husband left my kids and I, then I didn't have time/energy to do crafts or declutter. A year ago, I had to downsize and have been decluttering ever since. I'm probably 80-90 % done. So you gave me a couple of things to think about regarding the parting ways of craft stuff. Thanks for a great video!
I love your comments about unfinished projects. I have so many in that category! You said that sometimes we just have to cut our losses and let it go. Thank you. I feel like I’ve been given permission to toss projects I started long ago and don’t have an interest in anymore. Off to my craft room to purge and organize!
I like the idea of the same size clear bins that can be nested until needed, and stacked when full. Several years ago I donated a pretty fabric paint project that I had never finished, and no longer lived in the house where the colors would work. I haven't missed it - haven't even thought about it until today!
I have craft stuff I don't get to for years.. But I know I still want to do it.. And I have phases where I have the time, the headspace and desire to do crafts, and long periods where I don't because children and work life just gets in the way... But I have it all organized in one place (my cupboard under the stairs) and just in two big clear, labeled bins. I guess, instead of putting a "time frame" on stuff (which doesn't work for me), I make "physical boundaries" for my stuff.. And these physical boundaries are set up so that I feel comfortable that I don't have to much stuff and do not feel overwhelmed by my stuff in that category... It works great for me 👍😊.
Yes!!! This has been my biggest problem…..besides the piles of laundry. I want to be able to use my sewing stuff again! I’ll be dedicating the whole weekend to this and the laundry.
It always amazes me how much of a difference 15 minutes working on, even an overwhelming space, can make! I read "Bying fabric and sewing are two entirely different hobbies" once and it's been a good reminder to let go of things I don't use 😂

she is soo lucky to have you 😍
My mom just retired and has been helping me and I appreciate her so much so I know your daughter is grateful for you!
I wish my mom would come declutter and organize at my house. She’s amazing at it. I’m struggling lol. But she works too much to have time for that.
Wow, what a task to attempt on a Friday! I love that you encourage us to get decluttered even 5 minutes at a time. Game changer.
As a new mom, this was more encouraging for me to actually find a hobby again for myself! A little self care!
My husband built me an entire wall of drawers and a

Your tip about only buying storage containers that are continually made and replaceable is so good. When you organized your sister’s spices you mentioned it and that was a big learning moment for me. Thanks!
My new mantra is "Slowly but surely in 5 - 10 minutes a day!! Thanks for the encouragement to throw out my old projects.

Hello Ginny

Last year I decluttered my hobbies. Not the hobby stuff, but how many hobbies I do. Now down to jigsaws and rock painting, and doing so much more of each now.
Crafts organized! I'm finding it's easier to limit the kids' crafts so there's less to take out, less to put away, and they can find things easier!
I’m here bagging up Easter treats while watching you declutter 🍬🍭🐣🍭🍬
I love bins that stay in stock and are all matching also ♥️
Thanks for keeping my mind busy while I’m having a hard time staying awake 😍😂
Hobbies are so much easier to enjoy when they are organized.
Whee! I know you are feeling good about your crafts! I’m an art teacher so I have tons of stuff at school but I have paired down my supplies at home. You are really getting things done around your home! You are so motivating! Enjoy your day!😊
So happy that someone else likes to Organize and declutter! haha
Hello Debbie

I almost said, I don't have a craft room. Then I remembered all the random cabinets with odds and ends of projects! Time to get busy!

Loving this series ❤
I would definitely say that as your children get older you will find time to pick up older projects or hobbies. My children are now 14 and 11 and over the last couple of years I've been able to pick up my cross stitching hobby and reading books again with minimal interruption xx
Hello Tina
After moving, we no longer have a playroom. This kind of stuff is still packed up at the moment, and this motivates me to go ahead and tackle it!
I'm not a crafter, but my kids love crafts... so I have a lot. This is a great idea for today. 🙌🏼
Sometimes you can finish a project and sometimes you just have to let your ideas die with dignity.
On a side note, that carpet, wow.
I just said recently, I have been intending to get to the board games. Some are in their original shrink wrap, as they were gifts. My sister gave me many of them.
I promised to take pictures of them to ask her if she wants any of them for her game nights, before I put them on my Facebook free page.
[This is a lesson for me to not give people what I want, but give people what THEY want.]
And why not do this for her? She gave me many of them. I have to take pictures for the Facebook page anyway.
Thanks for always having an alternate opportunity.
Happy Easter and Passover to all who celebrate. Happy Spring.
I love your idea of only buying bins that are always available. Such a smart idea!
Hello Annalise
I love all of my craft stuff... and now I have 2 little girls that love all the craft stuff too 🥰 it's a big project but definitely fun!!
Different seasons of life for hobbies. Give yourself grace!
I love to paint … not pictures.. but furniture 😳
And all those supplies definitely need decluttering 👍
I’m so loving this challenge 👍❤️
I destashed so much yarn over the past few years, but still have far too much! I think my hobby became buying yarn for a while rather than actually knitting or crocheting it! Your craft cupboard looks so organised and welcoming now. I'm not feeling well today, but your sweet encouragement to just tackle one bin definitely motivated me. I'll give it a go!
I inherited all of my grandmother's sewing stuff when she passed. My kids use it all more than I do. I might have them help me do this.
Hi Jenny! Congratulations!! You are the winner of the $100 local gift card! Please email me at info@thesecretslob.com to claim your prize! Steph
@@TheSecretSlob Oh my gosh! I've never won anything!! How exciting and what a generous prize! Thank you so much!! I'll do some thinking and email you soon! Thank you!!!💗
I love how you all of a sudden wore that happy headband at the end of the video. 🎉
Yes! An organized craft area is so much more fun to play in!
My big tackle is my move. Now I am working through all those boxes with you. Thank you for the motivation and good ideas for places to tackle
Hello Julia
I like how your motive isn't really to be perfect but to get things done, and you do get them done! You are a real gal next foor and not a celebrity😅
Craft room is my biggest procrastinating area. You've given me incentive to spend a little bit of time there today. Thank you.
I love this and I did an hour of paper for scrapbooking ….omg I am out of control. I might do my yarn tonight thank you for all you do
Planner sticker book, omg! Don’t even get me started! Sure am glad the hubs doesn’t know they were $19 each, lol
Yes!!! This has been my biggest problem…..besides the piles of laundry. I want to be able to use my sewing stuff again! I’ll be dedicating the whole weekend to this and the laundry.
