I love your garden videos, Karen, and this was no exception 👌 You do have noisy seagulls but don't worry it's all part of the realness of your filming 😊 experience. Great work done. Good luck with the growth.
I think we can say Karen, you definitely do love gardening. You are going to be busy putting all those plants in. You make me laugh calling your mum Edward Scissor hands. I find you have a very soothing voice, lovely to listen to.
The cosmos will cheerfully self-seed everywhere. I ended up with about 30 seedlings and had to get a bit brutal in deciding which got to grow. You have selected some beautiful varieties of them though so some great surprises in the future. Some may default back to the standard if they were hybrids or create something new. Do still collect some seeds just in case. I love the arch to the side of your patio and look forward to seeing how that develops. 😊
So far the best harvest came from the rhubarb, Parsley, Mirabelle Plums Tree. The tomatoes stay desperately green because we are having mainly rain, few green beans and yellow beans too. However the surprise comes from the strawberries, so many still producing fruits. I have two Musquée squashes growing but my butternut and cucumbers seedlings were eaten by slugs. I am trying to save a melon squash badly damaged by slugs too.
Beautiful homewares! It's so good when we have restraint, it's a lot sweeter, I think, when we do buy something. Good luck on your green house journey. 💚💚💚
Love how your garden is looking. Good girl in the garden centre I'm proud of you. Iv had lots eaten by are friends . Catch you next time. I have yapping dogs next door and seagulls which poop on my washing. The neighbour feeds them and a flock of pigeons. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
So do I, when I'm not filming! I cant reduce their noise when editing without reducing my noise and for those who have complained when they watch the videos with headphones, I'm trying to get that balance!
Karen thank you x Your excitement at the garden centre visit just absolutely cheered me up . Your garden is looking so pretty xx I cannot wait for your greenhouse adventure to begin xx Hope you are having a lovely week xxxxx Ps I read recently that ducks are good for slug control so I’m now on the hunt for ducks 🦆
Didn't manage to sow cosmos this year. Def will next year. Also, LOVE the hose left lying on the grass. I do this all of the time. It's such a pain in the hoola hoop winding it back up by JEEEZUS I get given out to for it.
I do love that you whisperd, 'it's a cucumber flower' I too live in a nosiy place, and we had a right racket the other day with the sea gulls as well! There's always someone with a generator going, or a drill or a hammer and it can go on for hours! Love all the plants you got and lovely that you managed to get so much planted, and that garden centre is lovely, i'd go in and never come back out! Thank you for this weeks vlog, I needed cheering up and to calm down and I feel quite chilled now! Have a good week x
I love that filming with the external microphone means I can capture those little moments! That garden centre is my idea of heaven! Have a gorgeous week xxx
Hi Karen. The look on your face talking about the garden centre and getting a greenhouse is joyful! Wishing your greenhouse dream come true 🤩the garden looks lovely. The slugs are massacring my cabbages but like you I won't use any pesticides. Those things also kill the bees and other beneficial insects😢it's way to hot in Canada to be outside much unless it's early morning or evening. With the humidity the temps feel like 35-40 C🥵
@@Lovelygirliebits oh my gosh! You lived in Ottawa! Wow! The humidity has been insane this summer. My plants are loving it though lol it's cooling off this week. How did you find the snow? 😵
Hi Karen. Your garden looks great. I have cosmos i grew from seed for the first time. They are the same colours you bought. Love them. Keep up the good work!
I tried garlic spray this year for slugs and it really has put them off. You blitz five cloves in a blender and mix with water. Strain it into a spray bottle. It doesn't leave a smell or taste once dried.
Your verbena is glorious. Good to see the plants in the greenhouse getting in the dirt! butterfly bush in a pot?🦋 Pots set on dirt will start rooting into the dirt below and have a better chance of surviving with an extended root system. I’d consider digging and potting the plants where construction is going to go on. They will have a chance to settle in before the winter. So many pretty things growing.
I'm definitely going to pot up the plants that will be affected by the construction for sure and re the pots on the dirt, I did exactly that with some of the other pots! Great minds!
Hi Karen. It's winter here in New Zealand & the slugs here are even eating my winter lettuce. If not them the birds get the seedlings. Your garden is looking Great. Maybe you could do a sponsored glass house they would get great advertising! All the best.
Have you thought about a leanto greenhouse against the back wall? Nice wide one, french doors you can throw open when entertaining. I'm also greenhouse shopping but my garden is tiny compared to yours. I will make it work!!
I've looked into that, but I really love the idea of a separate building that's not attached. We've found over the last few years that the ground has settled and our patio has become uneven and I'd hate for the greenhouse to come away from the wall. Happy greenhouse shopping too!
Don’t worry about the seagulls, they are lovely. Your garden looks wonderful as always. Right now I’m successfully growing wild blackberries and weeds. 🙄💜
Oh the only reason I mention the gulls is that last year I had complaints from people on here who said they were watching the videos with their headphones and they were too loud. I'll never make everyone happy!
Always enjoy your videos luv your garden a bit like my own I just luv the garden. I also get excited about going to a garden centre. Feel sorry for you having to put up with the dogs barking, I don't mind the sound of the seagulls 😊😅 keep on gardening Karen kx
I don't mind the noise of the dogs and seagulls, it's just when I'm trying to film, I can't block the sound of them out and I've had comments from those who watch the videos with their headphones on who say it's too loud, so I have to stop talking until they stop making noise!
Hi , whilst watching the video & you mentioned about a budlea being invasive and concerned about ruining the view. Just a thought but you can shape it & what about raising the canopy This would expose the trunk & you could underplant it. It would take a little while to get established but I’m sure would look nice . I just thought no harm in trying 😊anything to suit your own garden . See what you think - Also I enjoy your channel 👩🌾💐
I think I'd maybe prefer to move it to a different location so that it means that the sun we get on the patio in the afternoons and evenings wouldn't be affected. I'm going to see what it looks like after the construction is done and go from there! But thank you for the suggestion, it's definitely something worth thinking about!
Hopefully your slugs find something else to eat. 😅 I did plant some new salads - guess what. They made it two days. 🙄 The slugs even ate the arugula. They never did that before. Don´t know what to think or do. Hugs from Germany
I hope the slugs and snails keep away from your recent veg planty bit purchases 🐌 it’s so disheartening it puts me off buying the same thing again 😩 I love Cosmos, you’ve made me want to buy some even though I’ve spent too much this year already! I wish you the best 🌱 💖
Hi Karen, I know here in the US we have Buddleja varieties that are noninvasive and stay small. I don’t know if those would be available where you are. Maybe something to check into. 😊❤
No, I need to research them some more. I'm just so hesitant to use anything like that as we eat the fruit and veg, but I'll definitely look into that one, thank you!
Buddleas, despite being known as butterfly bushes, are very good at attracting bees and butterflies but actually don’t give much food to them. There are much better plants to have for butterflies and bees.
Love how excited you are when going to the garden center. What a lovely place! The pink cosmos is beautiful. Thanks Karen
That garden centre is my favourite and it brings me so much joy! Less joy when I'm not purchasing much, but there's always next year!
I love your garden videos, Karen, and this was no exception 👌
You do have noisy seagulls but don't worry it's all part of the realness of your filming 😊 experience. Great work done. Good luck with the growth.
It doesn't get more real than that! All the gulls screaming their heads off!
I think we can say Karen, you definitely do love gardening. You are going to be busy putting all those plants in. You make me laugh calling your mum Edward Scissor hands. I find you have a very soothing voice, lovely to listen to.
Thank you so much for watching! Gardening gives me so much joy and when Edward Scissorhands gets her hands on plants, that gives me less joy !!
The cosmos will cheerfully self-seed everywhere. I ended up with about 30 seedlings and had to get a bit brutal in deciding which got to grow. My advice is it's a bit like a pond get the biggest greenhouse you can afford you will use it, and if you get a smaller one you'll regret it 😊
Fantastic video Karen, I love your spirit and enthusiasm for gardening 🧑🌾 it’s very inspiring
Best of luck 🍀 with your new plants xxx
Thanks a million for watching!

We have neighbours who feed the seagulls too... Am so proud of myself in the garden centre!
I love the sound of the seagulls❤❤❤ your garden looks great. Put crushed eggshells or seashells around your plants for the slugs.
So do I, when I'm not filming! I cant reduce their noise when editing without reducing my noise and for those who have complained when they watch the videos with headphones, I'm trying to get that balance!

How cool would it be to have ducks! I hope you find some!
Beautiful looking garden, its the bees knees.

Ah thank you so much!
Hi Karen. Your garden looks great. I have cosmos i grew from seed for the first time. They are the same colours you bought. Love them. Keep up the good work!
me too
I'm definitely going to buy some of those seeds for next year! They're so vibrant, I love them!
Enjoy your videos and the sounds of the gulls and the dogs are GREAT! Don't apologize for the sounds of nature.
Oh I don't mind the sounds, I'm just mindful of them for those who watch the videos with headphones on!
I tried garlic spray this year for slugs and it really has put them off. You blitz five cloves in a blender and mix with water. Strain it into a spray bottle. It doesn't leave a smell or taste once dried.
Ok I'm going to try this for sure, thank you! Do you spray on the plants or on the soil around the plants?

It's been in the 30s here in the US for weeks. I've lost so much due to forgetting (or dealing with emergencies) to water! ❤
Oh no! I hope you get some relief from that soon xxx
Hi Karen. It's winter here in New Zealand & the slugs here are even eating my winter lettuce. If not them the birds get the seedlings. Your garden is looking Great. Maybe you could do a sponsored glass house they would get great advertising! All the best.
Your poor winter lettuce! Thanks for watching and I hope you get to enjoy your vegetables properly!!

I've been putting porridge oates around my plants, the slugs eat that and leave the plants alone, so far it's been working.
Ooh that's interesting!
Fun and restraint, you did it🎉
Phew! Next year I won't be as restrained and I can't wait!
I love when you refer to your mom as Edward scissorhands. It cracks me up.
She has 5 sets of snips for the garden... 5!!!
Always enjoy your videos luv your garden a bit like my own I just luv the garden. I also get excited about going to a garden centre. Feel sorry for you having to put up with the dogs barking, I don't mind the sound of the seagulls 😊😅 keep on gardening Karen kx

Thank you so much xx
Love your videos Karen😀❤️🌼
Thank you!
❤
Enjoyed this video, the Cosmos can grow up to 6' they grow like weeds, enjoy them, they are beautiful
I'd love if they grew that tall!
Beautiful garden day!! ❤️
It was the perfect day for being out in the garden!
Well done Karen very restrained with your purchases. Lol. X
Are you very proud of me! haha!

This year has been so disheartening. That's the perfect word for it! Best of luck in the rest of your garden this year!
Hi Karen, I know here in the US we have Buddleja varieties that are noninvasive and stay small. I don’t know if those would be available where you are. Maybe something to check into. 😊❤
I'll definitely look into them because they're so beautiful and I love the colour of the flowers!
How lovely you are ❤❤
❤❤❤
Ooh and slugs apparently hate crawling over egg shells.
I'll have to start eating more eggs!
Do you use any organic pest remover, if so in the states we use Slugio works like a charm, $20 every 4 weeks, It last 8 weeks for my size garden
No, I need to research them some more. I'm just so hesitant to use anything like that as we eat the fruit and veg, but I'll definitely look into that one, thank you!
We use it in our food gardens , we are still alive haha
Wow so pretty ( garden ).
Did you buy any more seeds though? Heh heh 🩵👍🏻🇨🇦
Not a single extra seed was bought! (this time!)
Hello my darling i love your videos so mush 😀😀
Thank you so much 🤗
❤🇬🇧

A dish of beer. It really works
Watch next week's video because the day after filming this video, I did exactly that!
You must be near the coast with all the seagulls. 😅
I am!
