I do not drink beer but have bought to use in small saucers around my hosta for many years. Works great and not too expensive. Enjoyed the trip to check out the greenhouses.
Yippee the beer traps work. Yes pour the beer out and fill again later in the evening. If you find where slugs nest you could add traps to the outer area. They are sots.ha ha Beautiful greenhouses. Could you attach a greenhouse to your wall fence? Would save space. See if dealer could reconfigure the roof so you had room for your chandelier. Enjoyed the video. Have a great week.
Another natural slug deterrent is crushed egg shells. I rinse the shells and allow them to dry. I save them all winter long and in the spring crush them and sprinkle them around the plants as you did with the sea shells. Also the break down of calcium is good for the soil. 🤞 😊
Those greenhouses are beautiful. They will be an extension of your home. I could see you out there all the time. We have little snails here and tiny slugs. Those are quite big that you have. Ughhh! Everything is looking good. I even planted some corn after watching you with yours. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Wow what beautiful greenhouses, make my little one look even more tiny. I only havd a small garden so a big one was not an option for me but would not be without it. It grows me salad in the summer and over winter's my tender plants and ornaments, you won't regret getting one. Xx
I use horticultural grit in quite a thick layer and it seems to work, it also saves on the watering as the soil doesn't dry out so quickly. It's also cheap for a big bag.

Karen - try cucumber too - here me out - every night I slice up a third of a cucumber and I place the slices under my hosta, my delphinium, the sunflowers and the dahlias and it works they eat the cucumber not the plant - my hostas have no holes and the sunflowers have survived

Oh god i hate snails n slugs ...i noticed your have a few platic pots check under the rim of those pots cause thsts were they hide in the day ,run your finger under the lip and see if they are there ...i evict my snails by flinging them over the fence my neighbour only grows weeds lol I've even been out on rainy nights with a head torch hunting them out I realise that's extreme but its war in my garden 😂

I love that you are close to getting your greenhouse. That place has beautiful things. I laughed out loud when you said sorry I’m talking thru things because I was talking out loud how to place the chairs in that greenhouse to see the size you are looking at. The round table you have will be good in the greenhouse. If there was no such thing as having to follow a budget I would want the oval one right outside the greenhouse like the one you want. A little bigger for family and the rounded corners would make it easier to walk around it. What floor are you going to have in there.
Wow re the center will all the greenhouses and outdoor furniture. Such a nice selection. I really like the greenhouse you’re looking at and even though it wasn’t the size you’re looking at, it definitely gives you a feel for your size. How many people are you hoping to seat at a table?

don't mention slugs i'm usein chilli powder now seems to be working all the other methods don't work also do slug hunts where your grass meets ur beds pull the grass back you will be amazed how many are hidein i gather them up put in a jar then cover in salt sorry guys or the secateurs is it a irish thing to use greenhouse as a garden room never seen that done before love that wooden one your garden is looking beautiful
I don't think it's necessarily an Irish thing in terms of using a greenhouse as a garden room, I just want to make sure if I'm spending that much money on something, that I'll get as much use out of it as possible!

I put the beer in bottles or containers like tins lying on their sides so the rain doesnt wash away/dilute the beer.

I dump the slugs down the far end of the garden and the birds can enjoy them!
