  • bluegill fishing with worms is about as good as it gets! Clear water and giant bluegill on micro fishing setups is my kind of fishing!
    Dad and I have a bunch of fun finding some really big bluegills, and there is one of them that really peaks my interest!

    Fantastic video TY wish we had blue Gill here in UK beautiful fish ....I'm still buzzing from my earlier catch a zander around 8 lb on a lure from a UK Midlands canal rare and hard to catch ...just love fishing and love your channel so much cheers pal 👍🎣🐳🍻

    When I was a kid I went on a fishing trip to Birchwood Wisconsin we caught baskets of bluegills that where i learned how to fillet a fish I’ve never had to fillet as many ever supine but I’ve gotten really good at it

    Back when I was a kid I fish with my grandpa in the sixties and we would catch pan size bluegill like that out of a creek in Oklahoma I haven't seen them that big and quite a while at first I thought you had a rock bass I looked on like a bluegill with inner lips but they're longer bodies

    Biggest blue gills I ever caught was early stage and in the middle of nesting , when the males are keeping clean the nest

      All fish are like that, but part of it is that a big chunk of fish doesn't fry up crispy. If you cut the fillets up into thin strips it comes out much better.

    Geez those are nice! Didn't realize it was sunfish day on TH-cam, just posted a short with a 1.34lb bluegill my buddy caught while we were bass fishing. Never had to weigh one before ha ha

    This brings back old memories for me. When I was a kid, I fished a lake in Southern Georgia with huge bluegills in it. I would catch them that big all the time, especially when they were on the "Bed". This is a fantastic video. Thanks, I miss those days. Plus, they were delicious to eat.

    Those are a hybrid breed. A mix between chinquapin (aka shell crackers & red ears) & blue gills. We call them mason bream around here. They are the best of both! Great fights & great size!

    I love catching bluegill of any size. I have yet to find any with those darker color tones up here in Idaho. I would love to catch some that look like that 👍

      Here in Wisconsin I used to catch them in deeper water. 40-50 feet. Or early morning or evening. Good luck!! 🍺👍🏽💯

    Catch those all the time in WI those are deep water blue gill that come in to Spawn you can only catch these from shore certain times of year other then that these blue gill hang out in deep water suspended that's why the color of them are different

    Those were all huge… I took my younger sister out, she wanted to catch the fish she could see I was there for bass! She caught 72 sunfish I had to take off so I didn’t fish. 72 x I heard oh David every time wanted to change my name…

    Caught my personal best and second biggest largemouths today out of a storm water pond at a park downtown. I am guessing about 5 pounds for the bigger one. I would have never fished that spot without watching this channel!

      @@jeremylesso857 I only fish that spot early in the morning so people don't see me hooked up. It's got a drain pipe that dumps right into the bay, so at high tide mullet are getting in the pond. Plenty of forage for the bass and they are keeping the vegetation down. A mullet pattern swim bait gets hammered everytime. I found another drain pond even closer to the house that's full 2 pounders.

      @@Stephen85 u must live close to saltwater if mullet are there!!! I live in Biloxi and when I brim fish I catch mullet too believe it or not!!! Bcuz the Gulf is close and so is the River!!! We got saltwater, brackish and freshwater!!!

    8:17 only bream that large I've seen was in a catfish pond beating the catfish out of their food. Hundreds of really fast orange and yellow bream.

    My brother caught a bluegill in a Iowa farm pond that almost broke the state record at over 3lbs. His fish was dark too, and he was told it's due to their age and holding patterns, like deep or shallow water.

      Largest one caught in my lake was a litte over a pound. Apparently they don't grow so big in my part of Canada. Neighbour caught a 56 pound muskie so it all works out though.

    Am I the only one that thinks ppl who can't win thousands of dollars catching fish in a tournament by outfishing the best of the best don't deserve to make tens of thousands catching insanely loaded private ponds full of giants that's are probably NEVER fished against absolutely no one . Have any of these dudes hardly able to grow a beard yet even fished a Thursday night turning l tournament or a bass master where you start against so many ppl the Weigh-Ins take longer than the fishing yea I get it I'm not just hating cuz I didn't think of it first but maybe I was just brought up different all I know is anybody can get noticed for making it of money but nobody was ever call great for taking short cuts and doin things the easy way for a quick buck

    I know a lot of people aren’t fans of the KastKing stuff but I got a Crixus 7’0 MH spinning rod and I absolutely love it! Those are monster bluegills dude, I wish someone would do a study on how they get so damn big. Something genetically is probably different, I wonder what it is. I would love to see hatcheries breed some gigantic bluegill or other sunfish like that and stock them cuz damn would that be some awesome fishing!

    My dad Built a lake back in 1954 it's like 10.7 acres he put 5000 Blue gills in it then 2 years later he put 2000 Florida strain bass in it the average size blue gills was like 1 1/2 to 2 pound a 3 to 4 pounds was Common.

    That's hybrids. I caught some a few years back that was ready to pop it seemed. Weighed 2lbs and one 2.3lbs. we have stock ponds on company property, they'll hit everything you throw at them.

    Somebody must be fryin em. If you don't harvest bream from ponds, they end up overpopulating and you end up with loads of tiny ones. It's easy for bluegill to outbreed the fishermen's ability to catch and clean em.

    Why is nobody else fishing there?? Nothing is 'secret' these days. I suspect you are on private property in a heavily stocked pond.

    That big boy look a little like a green fish/bluegill/shellcracker..but I could be wrong

    Bluegill fishing is great using a 3,4, or 5 wt. fly rod and cork popping bugs.
