This brings back old memories for me. When I was a kid, I fished a lake in Southern Georgia with huge bluegills in it. I would catch them that big all the time, especially when they were on the "Bed". This is a fantastic video. Thanks, I miss those days. Plus, they were delicious to eat.
I Love that place. I think I remember that place in another video with your dad. I never get tired of that place in your videos. It's almost mystical, the clarity, with the particular structure, and the birds. Just awesome.
That last bluegill was stunning, beautiful colors and what a monster 😮! I love catching sunfish and I think it’s so much fun on ultralight tackle. Great video, as usual, keep up the good work. Tight lines , brother 🎣🎣🎣🐟🐟🐟!!!
See y’all on the next one brother and your dad. It’s great to see you out there with your dad Tye seems like I woke up one morning and my dad had passed away. Just spend all the time you possibly can with him brother I pray it’s a long time to go to Amen 🙏.
Largest one caught in my lake was a litte over a pound. Apparently they don't grow so big in my part of Canada. Neighbour caught a 56 pound muskie so it all works out though.
Those are a hybrid breed. A mix between chinquapin (aka shell crackers & red ears) & blue gills. We call them mason bream around here. They are the best of both! Great fights & great size!
Geez those are nice! Didn't realize it was sunfish day on TH-cam, just posted a short with a 1.34lb bluegill my buddy caught while we were bass fishing. Never had to weigh one before ha ha Curious what is your PB Bluegill?
I love catching bluegill of any size. I have yet to find any with those darker color tones up here in Idaho. I would love to catch some that look like that 👍

Caught my personal best and second biggest largemouths today out of a storm water pond at a park downtown. I am guessing about 5 pounds for the bigger one. I would have never fished that spot without watching this channel!
@@jeremylesso857 I only fish that spot early in the morning so people don't see me hooked up. It's got a drain pipe that dumps right into the bay, so at high tide mullet are getting in the pond. Plenty of forage for the bass and they are keeping the vegetation down. A mullet pattern swim bait gets hammered everytime. I found another drain pond even closer to the house that's full 2 pounders.
@@Stephen85 u must live close to saltwater if mullet are there!!! I live in Biloxi and when I brim fish I catch mullet too believe it or not!!! Bcuz the Gulf is close and so is the River!!! We got saltwater, brackish and freshwater!!!
Fantastic video TY wish we had blue Gill here in UK beautiful fish ....I'm still buzzing from my earlier catch a zander around 8 lb on a lure from a UK Midlands canal rare and hard to catch ...just love fishing and love your channel so much cheers pal 👍🎣🐳🍻
My brother caught a bluegill in a Iowa farm pond that almost broke the state record at over 3lbs. His fish was dark too, and he was told it's due to their age and holding patterns, like deep or shallow water.
Some nice blue frisbees right there. I'm guessing you're using a 164 oz jig head with a small soft plastic? Do you let it hit bottom or give it little pops right when you think it's about to make contact?
I gotta say, this is *_MY_* favorite pond too.. and I've never even fished it before lol. Always so jealous when you fish here.. but I love your content too much to stay mad at ya 😁
Beautiful fish!Sometimes when the greens and gills get together they can be really dark like this. Another factor is the alkaline content of the impoundment ,and can determine a fishes pigments as well.
Catch those all the time in WI those are deep water blue gill that come in to Spawn you can only catch these from shore certain times of year other then that these blue gill hang out in deep water suspended that's why the color of them are different
wow, this takes me back to living in south jersey as a kid, catching kitchenware like these bois. harder to find em now, great fishing my boi loved the vid.
All fish are like that, but part of it is that a big chunk of fish doesn't fry up crispy. If you cut the fillets up into thin strips it comes out much better.
When I was a kid I went on a fishing trip to Birchwood Wisconsin we caught baskets of bluegills that where i learned how to fillet a fish I’ve never had to fillet as many ever supine but I’ve gotten really good at it
Someone already said it but yeah, that dark huge pig of a fish? they are a hybrid of Redear & Bluegill..some refer to them as Mason Bream. That's hybrids. I caught some a few years back that was ready to pop it seemed. Weighed 2lbs and one 2.3lbs. we have stock ponds on company property, they'll hit everything you throw at them.
Is that the PGA bird track they pipe in going on in the back grind of your video? I loved the fish, but the background sounds were amazing and crystal clear. Thanks for another great video Ty.
Beautiful fish man...I miss the days fishing with my grandfather. Anyway I just got a kastking zephyr 4000 and a kastking pole to match it after watching your channel and you using them. Very good quality gear man and I can't wait to use it.
Man that last one qualifies as a "Texas Discus" LOL!
Hahaha thank you!
Nobody that lives in Texas has ever used the word "discus" unless they're discussing bbq. Austin doesn't count apparently.
That's my favorite kind of fishing right there! Hard to find, but wonderful when you. So much fun to watch. Thanks for posting!
What I wouldn't give or give up for a chance to catch bluegill like this. Absolutely amazing.

I'm not sure what kind of hybrid that was, but what I do know is your the best at catching them!
Not hybrid
It pan. Fish
