  • Today I will be taking you to a store in Akihabara specialized in Pokemon graded cards. We already know how slabs can be hard to find and expensive in Japan, so this place decided to go all in with PSA!
    Is it worth it? Let's see!

      Have to say, with the many troubles PSA is going through at the moment many shops refuse to buyback slabs at the moment, they are having trust issues. But overall slabs are slowly getting more popular.

      Japanese people are more players than collectors. In that sense slabs don’t really make sense to them. You see them same thing with mangas, people in the west collect them, but here they read and sell them back almost right away (no storage space)

      @@PokeNickinJapan I understand, there's a cultural gap. But I imagine there are a lot of Japanese collectors too, even if the % might not be as high.

    A lot of people look for sequential sets here in the U.S. they’ll actually go for more, usually

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The difficulty here is that, graded cards not being that popular, stores are having a hard time filling up their shelves, so let alone getting sets of slabs altogether xD

    As a foreigner who is going to visit japan soon, how difficult will it be to do a vlog while i there in different stores?

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, it really depends on the store, but if you don't speak Japanese and just start filming in the stores, you might be asked to stop. Many stores don't want people to film, mostly for their customers privacy (which is a big deal here). I always ask for permission before filming, that's how I can get close up shots of all the showcases. But I've been denied the authorization quite a few times. Also many stores are very small so you must be mindful of that.
      My advice is be respectful, ask for permission, even if in English, many store owners will be able to tell you OK or "Dame" (Japanese word for "Sorry buddy but no"). Tokyo and especially Akihabara is full of card shops so if you get rejected in one place, just try the one next door.

      No, and it’s not only them. In Japan you’ll have a really hard time finding anything else other than PSA. Even BGS is tough to find. The only place I know that has ARS is Bee Honpo, but slabs aren’t their big thing.
