So, a few things : - Comparing with Mercari isn’t the best thing, cause mercari is almost always (except in rare cases) cheaper, for obvious reasons xD - for sought after, really expensive items I’d rather pay a bit more and get it from a trusted store where I can have a look at it first, than buying it online where there are so many scams. - 99% of the tourists don’t have access to メルカリ anyway :-) Now I haven’t compared YK prices with Mercari so can’t say whether they are a bit more expensive (as usual) or way more expensive as you seem to say :-)

@@PokeNickinJapan Oh I see, makes sense. Certain cards like some full art trainers are double as expensive but most of them seem to be 20% more so nothing extreme, ofc I don't have every price of every card in mind either so there may be ones that are cheaper even xV Thanks for the info!

I should add (usually I put it in the video description but I forgot this time) that this video has been filmed 2 months ago, many cards dropped in price even more since then ;-)

Yes it is interesting how they have very cheap cards (considering the rarity) alongside the most expensive cards I’ve seen in a card shop.

It is. Ideally if you want to invest the best possible you should remove all kind of emotion when you purchase an item. But as collection is precisely based on emotions, it’s hard to combine both :-)

It really depends on the item. Sealed was overpriced even including the tax free, but there was some good prices on singles (especially modern).

So, technically it means damaged yes. But because in Japan they have a different view of what is « damaged », it is NM for us dirty westerners :-)

Very simple, they don’t even buy them back. If you have a PSA8 card and go to a shop hoping to sell it, they’ll just laugh at you. (Answer exaggerated, but you get the idea)

Usually the alt art price follows the same pattern as the Booster box. For example, when Clayburst was at 14,000yen a box, Iono sar was sold for 100,000yen raw. When the box dropped to 7/8000, Iono dropped to 50,000. And now that the box is at 6,000, Iono is at 33/35000. The box itself has a soft limit at msrp, so I see Iono going down to 30,000 and then stabilize. Clayburst is a box that sells fairly well so I don’t see it going below msrp. Same thing can be said for Lost Origin and Paradigm Trigger. When Paradigm trigger was at 11,000, Lugia was selling for 40/45,000yen. Now that the box sells for roughly 6,000, Lugia sells for 25,000. When Lost Origin was selling for 20,000, Giratina was selling for 70,000yen. Now that Lost Origin sells for 9,000 yen, Giratina sells for 40,000. After the reprint, if the box goes down to, let’s say, 6,000. I could see Giratina going down to 30,000, then stabilize before eventually going back up once the market swallows the reprint. I would buy it at 30,000 :-) Of course what I said now is for raw cards, the same can overall be said for PSA10 versions of these cards.

This, plus the fact that the sets aren’t that great and not finding their audience. From what I heard from various store owners, the amount of preorders for the new sets dropped nearly 60% since Rulers of the Black Flame. The PCJ wants to put the cards in everyone’s hand but ultimately if it doesn’t sell on the primary market that’s when it’s not profitable for them. They probably have figured that out already and might end up slowing down the printers. Future flash and ancient roar are still widely available everywhere at 60/70% msrp. Even big chain stores start discounting them. Overall I’m like you, if they were to reprint older sets I’d buy all the ones I missed in the past. But that’s because I’m a collector as well, don’t care much about reselling so for me the cheaper the better. The market will eventually go back up but I don’t see this happening before the 30th anniversary.

There was also never a 1st ed Japanese base set…both of your points are not valid in this

Japanese base set do have the « no rarity » mark version though which kind of is the equivalent of 1st ed, but that’s the only set with a no rarity version.

Are you talking about Eevee Heroes? The Lost Abyss/Paradigm Trigger reprint was announced for June/July. Paradigm trigger already happened this week, we are now all waiting for Incandescent Arcana which should be next, then lost abyss (which I’m personally very much waiting for xD)
