Gamestop has no formal training, its pretty much throwing you into the water and letting you sink or swim. My first day there the manager literally had me sit on the floor behind the counter and gut games most of my time there, when a customer came up and tried to ask me anything I couldnt help them cause I had no idea how the computers worked at the time. After that every day was me just helping customers and as things came up that I didnt know I was told by someone else how to do it, its basically "Learn as you go"

Same exact same went to this video to see if someone was having the same problem before because I don’t like how it’s like that because everyone expects me to already know how to do stuff since the only fully trained people operating the store is the SM and ASM

When I was first hired at Game Stop I actually got zero training. I was hired into a store that wasn't open yet and I actually helped set it up and basically was thrown into the frying pan and learned as I went. It wasn't a bad experience at all, I actually had a lot of fun at the first store I worked at. All the GA's hired were my personal friends and working was literally like hanging out and talking about video games. The customer base was pretty much all regulars and they also enjoyed games and it was mostly just a very good time. Despite the fact that the store had a low volume in sales, we were almost always number one in all the metrics Game Stop was looking for due to our loyal customer base. It wasn't until I was transferred over into a different store that all the nightmares that you speak about started happening.

Phone greetings at any place of business should be short and simple.

LOL man the memories come flooding back. I don’t remember the training stuff you mentioned probably got implemented after I left in 2012. My favorite thing was Microsoft’s ExpertZone and Sony’s PlayStation equivalent taking the quizzes on games and getting free stuff. I got two free ps vitas LOL and sold them both 🤣 training was the worst though LOL.
Oh yeah also forgot I hated calling the reservations for every game ugh. I was a store manager and I hated it haha and I rarely had my associates do it and I never listened in on them haha that’s stupid.

I just left GS a week ago after 7 years. GPGs are the worst. 25% expectation every week, and a conference call weekly for any store that doesn’t hit it. How are supposed to sell it? Well, the “assumption approach” got shoved onto this worst (it was a method only meant to sell more preowned; ie assume the guest wants to save and get preowned) and many district managers literally put in writing on our daily huddle to use the “one price approach”. Meaning we put the GPG on WITHOUT asking, and simply “show” the guest what their total is, “including the year protection”. I did this once and a very reasonable customer told me it was shady. I said I know right? Never did it again. This concept had been applied to basically all metrics except trades, but trust me they’re pushing trades through behaviors these days so hard it’s basically harassment.

I think the reason they removed those kiosks is because it ruined the hype for games people may have wanted. How many games were promised to be amazing and were absolutely terrible in reality? I think people come in with a fantasized idea of a game but once they saw the screen shots and reviews, they realized otherwise. So maybe the machines hurt sales.

I notice employees don't really care. Lets just talk about games and I'll learn nothing in the process.

Its getting to the point where you almost need to quit your job and start working at a shitty retail store just to have more stories for videos

You should do a collaboration video with CAMELOT331 and cleanprincegaming. It's probably easier said than done but it'd be pretty cool

Has Camelot posted any actual proof yet?

@@bkcollectorshop9631 I don't think so, but Gamestop did get him fired from his latest job. So, I can imagine I'd be risky to throw anything out there if he has any.

Dylan Desena and what proof did he show that Gamestop got him fired? Please I’ll wait

I hate the vulnerability that role play has. then it makes you sound stupid and or over easy. and rps never act out like real life.

Sounds like you weren't cut out for sales, which is fine many of us aren't. In life you will discover businesses typically train sales staff to try and push their products that yield the highest margins. Most businesses that sale products also have a script of sorts to follow when answering the phone. GameStop's training may have been excessive in these areas, but as general concepts they are common practice for successful businesses. If you have some morale high-ground philosophy and see any type of agenda driven influencing as wrong, avoid marketing/advertising and sales jobs. Because this is at the core of all of it and some other bad news, this is pretty much the engine that drives all consumerism which fuels the fire that is the American economy. So yes, everything you have and take for granted in the culture in which you live is a byproduct of this "unethical" system.... My perspective is it's just businesses doing business. If consumers weren't so gullible perhaps less of this bullshit would happen... All that said, It seems the doom and gloom for GameStop continues because of many things.

people are giving gamestop 10 years !?!? they make no money off the new consoles & games so i guess maybe the trade ins from all the past gen and people buying those preowned along w the games . but even then id still say theyd be lucky to make it another 5 , theyre in terrible shape .

@@V1VISECT6 i worked there til just over a year ago for about 5 yrs and the decline is extremely evident even to customers. its bad , part of why i left is they want you to give your all for every single action in the store for nothing in return and dont seem to grasp the concept of downtimes and seasonal shifts . like hey corporate dickhead , its the middle of july of course my pro cards are down. no one knows what they're doing or where theyre heading in corporate and it shows .

Fanta, be careful making videos as an ex-GameStop employee on youtube. TH-camr Camelot331 was a ex-employee that made videos about GameStop and got fired from his current employer because GameStop called them to complain. Dirty and shady as hell. Watch his recent video if you havent yet.

He left out A LOT of information. A previous employer can't legally talk badly about a previous employee, especially not big companies. He was lying because he didn't want to tell the true reason he got fired.
