Holy Cow Kurt ! 1708 Reale , that’s incredible ! Congrats. I took a bent silver dime once and placed it in between to pieces of plywood in a metal vise and it bent it back flat . The wood cushions the coin a little in the vise . Awesome hunt !!

Never ceases to amaze me the variety and rarity of some of the coins you Hoover Boys pull outta the dirt there! Congrats especially on the Reale and the East India Company Rupee, such beautiful coins!!! First time I have ever seen either of those coins dug live or on a video! That is what I love about this channel and hobby because just when you thought you have seen it all one of the HB pops something else rare and spectacular out of the ground! My dang ancestors just couldn't have stayed in Baltimore, noooooooo they just had to move west!! Congrats again and HH!!!

Back in the 1970s I was using an old Whites detector that I got used and didn`t really know how to adjust properly but I found $1.75 in silver and an 18K Air Force ring in an old garden. That`s my best silver day ever! I wish I could go back and hunt there again with a modern detector.

That East India Rupee is so cool! Love the big silver too, always awesome to see, but like you said it's so cool to be blindsided by something so neat and random. Cant wait to have the extra funds to get my first detector soon!
Always enjoy the cleaning tips, got a few cruddy buttons I'll have to try this on! Ever think of doing a strictly cleaning tutorial or even a reference sheet for different items/metals? All I can ever remember is Brad singing about boiling his trime and not the actual method of cleaning.

Congratulations, Kurt! I've always been inspired by your (and your colleagues') tenacity and ability to find great, very historic stuff. For quite a while I admit I was envious of you guys and getting bummed out with less than stellar finds, though. Finally, last weekend, with my AT Pro and Thunder coil (I asked you for advice about NEL coils awhile back) I found a site that produced a big, beautiful 1790 4 Reales with Mexico City mintmark in incredible condition, as well as a bunch of copper alloy and tombac flat buttons 1785-1815 era, an 1802 largie, and a short distance away an 1865 2 cent and 1866 Indian Head cent. Many of these were about 2-3 inches deep. Putting in the research really seems to have done the trick. So thank you for inspiring others to be persistent and succeed despite digging up tons of junk. Now I'm going to go back and start digging signals down into the 40s on the AT Pro (although I've learned from you it's less about VDI and more about using your ears and research of the site).

I’m not a dealer so don’t quote me. The AT series can be had for $500-$700 depending on the model. Yes it will take some time to master. Some say 100 hours to understand a machine. Just dig as many signals as you can. You never stop learning. When in doubt dig it out. HH

Curt . I would like your opinion. I have watched many of your videos . I live in Colorado and I started with a handheld detector that I had to crawl on the ground with. I would really like to get back in to detecting . What would you recommend as a good model and manufacturer for me starting out again. A all around detector please and thank you.
I always suggest Garrett’s. They’re simple to learn and operate. Many people start with the Ace series but the AT Series is well worth the extra money. We use the Garrett AT Max. Some decent kits out there with a Pinpointer amzn.to/2pKgZgc

Congrats! I found my Second mercury dime ever 2 days ago, it’s a 1920 near mint San Francisco’s mint with bands 😻I feel like I will never top that

singing to your coin while cleaning is perhaps the most important piece of the puzzle.

Colonial to Now. Farms, camps during wartime, events for over a century and a half, in a history-rich area.
Land dates back to the 1630’s. Farm after farm then hangout and picnic grove

Curt . I would like your opinion. I have watched many of your videos . I live in Colorado and I started with a handheld detector that I had to crawl on the ground with. I would really like to get back in to detecting . What would you recommend as a good model and manufacturer for me starting out again. A all around detector please and thank you.
I always suggest Garrett’s. They’re simple to learn and operate. Many people start with the Ace series but the AT Series is well worth the extra money. We use the Garrett AT Max. Some decent kits out there with a Pinpointer
