Most shads in stock on my website (look in description). Spanish macks are awesome fish. Looking forward to hopefully having them around all summer. I made a pate out of the other ones and it was bangin!
EliasVFishing Hi, Elias hope your have fun in North Carolina This is a really odd question but I live in Bushwich, Brooklyn and I have been on charter boat 3 times now. I have never caught a fish, do you know any good charter boat or any tips. I will take any advice from someone like yourself
So jealous right now. Try Snow’s Cut for flounder. The bridges around Wilmington should hold some sheepshead. Don’t make it look too good. We don’t want everybody moving there!
Great vid as usual but dude, herb scissors gadget for basil? ;-) You doing C-C-C get kitchen skills instead of gadgets. Learn chiffonade for leaf herbs and vegetables (spinach, kale, chard). With a basic set of GOOD knives, hone steel and GOOD wood board (break, butcher, debone, slice, dice, chop, mince). Prepping food is 90% of the battle. Quickly and properly prepared products make all the rest easy and enjoyable. Hooksets every cast for you, our TH-cam friend.
Nice trip, nice fish. Spanish Macks are a summertime staple here on the beaches of FL. Just keep a rig with a spoon on and wait for a bait boil or birds to come your way. My best tip based on my preference is to put Mack's on ice immediately and Cook them within the same afternoon. I like to fry them, but if not eaten close to kill, they get mealy in texture.
you found one of my favorite fish to catch down on the space coast of Florida, when you get a chance try to just saute it in butter in a pan so you can flip it and get the skin crispy and eat it like you would a fresh water trout, then just a little lemon. you will love it. when i fish for pompano from the beach and catch a blue, i will start using my casting rod with a spoon as the spanish macks will often swim with the blues(they wont hit the pompano rigs with sand fleas, shrimp or clams like blues will however), you catch both but throw back the blues and keep the macks. good luck and tight lines brother
Lol...you said it didn't taste as gamey as a bluefish, and that's what I had for dinner tonight...fresh from the Manasquan Inlet. Waiting to head down to the shore in Belmar or Manasquan to see if the mackrel have moved in off the shore. Love your videos.
Best C&C I've seen in a while! Professional cooking. Perfect touch of flavorings cooked the right way. Try making the bluefish recipe I sent you with Spanish mackerel.
My favorite recipe for mackerel and the like; including trout and salmon. 1Tbs melted butter 1Tbs white wine About ten drops of lemon juice Salt, pepper, and dill weed to taste. I add a little garlic for fish with a stronger flavor. I start broiling the fish dry and then brush the sauce on after about 3-5 minutes and again about a minute before it's done. Cheers!
man you reaaally really got your fileting skills up compared to your earlier videos! congrats man :) also it looks really tasty! greetings from germany
Went down to CB and got in on some of the Spanish this morning until the weather turned and I got outta there. Grilled one whole on the grill for dinner, was really good! You should give it a try! Maybe another catch n cook whole Spanish!
When we visit our daughter in NC, I always try to get on some Spanish Mackerel. Fun to catch, and some great eating! Find a bait ball, and cast towards the edges of it, and I don’t think you can reel to fast.
NC native here. I've learned that anything silver and shiney can catch Spanish mackerel. Clark spoons are my go-to lure but yo-zuri minnows work great as well.
Nice landing. Great catch n cook. Can’t wait til the next. I’ve been playing around with crappie til bass bite kicks in, which looks good til the storm last night. Definitely going to go rain or shine end of the week blues and stripers.
Fast Eddie's pier Anna Maria Island, FL we used to fill up buckets of Spanish on Walmart metal spoons. They preferred the silver over gold and would hit a metal spoon over any other lure. Smoked spanish mackerel is really great. I miss the smoked spanish and also the smoked mullet back home.
I was digging that crustacean that was growing off your forearm when you were talking and eating. 💆♂️ I have been liking your videos. I don't eat much fish anymore...
Elias, I have rod floats on the rods I use in my Kayak. You can get foam pipe insulation with a 1/2" hole diameter at Lowes or Home Depot. Cut a piece to fit between the grip and the first guide. I use black duct tape to hold it, or wire ties. It's more convenient than a rod leash.
Fantastic video. Really great one. Love the excitement of the new species. So funny that you mention radio stations. I live near Raleigh and we have NO decent rock stations so it's always a treat heading out to the beach, not only to enjoy the water but to catch some pretty good music. Cool recipe. Look forward to trying it. (I wonder if you're old enough to remember Q104.3?)
Great vid, spanish are great fun, but, have never found a recipe that tasted ok, they taste strong to me, but haven’t bled one and cooked it like this, will give it a shot.. thanks for sharing with us!!!! W
Crippled herring works good for the Spanish, white or gold Gotcha Jigfish is another good one. I never liked the epoxy jigs. I can cast the metal jigs farther and when your running and gunning Spanish on baitballs it helps out.
Take the oil gland out of the bluefish. Boil it until done then put it in a colander to firm up, then make fish cakes out of them using the crab cake recipe on the back of a can of old bay.
Awesome you just proved you pay zero attention to the comment section but to post your own comment. I told you many moons ago a mayo marinade will tame oily fish like Blue Fish and others. Been doing it for years fishing the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. Bacon bait is still king!!!!!
my grandmother cooked the one i caught on the grill but she cut it in horse shoe shapes with the bone still in the middle and wrapped in bacon. it was AMAZING!! secret recipe she took to the grave
Adoro peixe. Me deu água na boca. Ganhei 4 peixes deste e não conhecia. Pesquisei até chegar aqui para conhecer esse peixe e saber como preparar. Obrigado
Get or make a long cloth bag...you can roll up and stash but use for putting in your rods...attach a float...attach to side wth some Velcro straps...won't break em if you roll and can retrieve the with the float.
It looks just like the blue fish filets from last week that you said looked trash. Haha I’m convinced most fishermen are just blue fish haters 😂😂😂. Nice vid
In Australia we would call that a spotty "spotted mackeral" @2.59, what we call spanish mackeral have wavy vertical stripes, disclaimer, have never caught either, but watch a lot of Aussie fishing videos, have filleted plenty of Spanish though in my previous business...
add an egg to ur marinade and mince the fish into tiny bits with a knife or foodprocessor+ some tiny bits of onion and/or leak and make into fishcakes. much better :)
Man you have some of the best catch and cooks out there! Have you done a video on how to learn to fish a new area? You mentioned putting in time figuring things out and such how does one go about this?
Eli, dude. Those are really nice macks I catch them all the time from shore down here in st Pete. But let me tell you, you got lucky there, those things shake so fast when u land them. I though I was gonna see u get hooked in your legs. Careful man.
I'm surprised you thought it was mild. Macks are more of a bait fish to me as they are so oily and bloody, next time try bleeding them right after you catch them, I've heard they are good smoked in a dip but I've never tried eating them
Use gotcha plugs they destroy Spanish and blues up here on the outer banks the metallic ones work best for Spanish and the original or nuclear chicken color are good for blues
Hi Elias, Here's a show request. Did you ever think of trying fishing lures that work up North And using them hear in Wilmington, NC. Like the tube & worm? I know you don't like trolling! But it could be deadly on cobia . Jim Kilcommons
We finalllllly got to see a landing video lol. Now I'm waiting for you to post a crash and burn launch or landing....come on Elias, don't be ashamed....you are here to entertain us....right?
Can i have some, it looks really tasty. I dont have a kayak or boat, I only fish on the dock of Long Island NY. I dont see any fish like this in the dock.

For Spanish go get u a gotcha plug all white or blue head and white body or stingsilvers or spoons

can you do a short video of your thule hullivators on your thule rack ? like how they connect and usage etc?
It is real hard to beat a fresh Spanish Mackerel. They are great fish.
Nice trip, nice fish. Spanish Macks are a summertime staple here on the beaches of FL. Just keep a rig with a spoon on and wait for a bait boil or birds to come your way.

Enjoy yourself my friend. Look forward to more Spanish Mackerel catch & cooks.
Glad to see some NC fish representing

Making a contrast between the northeast catch is very informative. Always throw that in so us folks north can relate 👊🏼 great episode
Nice of Laurel to send you that awesome recipe.
Best C&C I've seen in a while!
Professional cooking. Perfect touch of flavorings cooked the right way.
Try making the bluefish recipe I sent you with Spanish mackerel.
Get up in that bag fish! Funny as hell man! Great work as always
Man those are some monster Spanish Macks! Good stuff!!!
Great video, awesome to see you excited about Spanish Mack!
Spanish macks off the jetties in Texas are awesome...culinary delight!
It's really great catching those from the shore. Good eats!
My favorite recipe for mackerel and the like; including trout and salmon.

At 14:10 a fly goes in your marinade and doesn't come back out. lol Great vid Elias!
Yeah.. it’s not a fly.
I stand corrected :)
You don’t eat flies?
Wow that looked delicious. Glad you're having fun. Great video.
Went down to CB and got in on some of the Spanish this morning until the weather turned and I got outta there. Grilled one whole on the grill for dinner, was really good! You should give it a try! Maybe another catch n cook whole Spanish!
Excellent fried and smoked as well
Nice landing man! That was a great catch and cook.
Spoons and glass minion jigs work really good for Spanish mac of all sides.
last summer was the first time i caught and cooked a spanish. i never will forget their fight and taste...
I luv Spanish mackerel. Good recipe. I like to curry them also
You need to get a stingsilver lure down there and Spanish are everywhereeeeeeee - glad you are having a blast
That looks really good. Thanks for sharing.
Big fan of spanish and kings. Mostly catch and release but they are delicious.
When we visit our daughter in NC, I always try to get on some Spanish Mackerel. Fun to catch, and some great eating! Find a bait ball, and cast towards the edges of it, and I don’t think you can reel to fast.
Damn that looks good ! I used to snapper fish out of that area many years ago . I always thought the Carolina's were very nice places .
Elias, your video's are always the BEST! So interesting.... You are living the dream my friend, keep up the good work!
NC native here. I've learned that anything silver and shiney can catch Spanish mackerel. Clark spoons are my go-to lure but yo-zuri minnows work great as well.
Gotchu plugs
Thanks for the feedback, definitely treating the family to some Spanish mackerel tomorrow
Nice landing. Great catch n cook. Can’t wait til the next. I’ve been playing around with crappie til bass bite kicks in, which looks good til the storm last night. Definitely going to go rain or shine end of the week blues and stripers.

Awesome vid! i haven't caught a Spanish in a few years, cool fish

I do good on the Spanish mackerel this time of year here on topsail island, NC. It would be cool to see a video of you around here.
Damn that looked good I usually fry mine I'm gonna try that recipe
Great fishing friend, like it
growing up I wanna say I was 10 we had a good run of them in the summer in island park they are tasty
Fantastic video. Really great one. Love the excitement of the new species. So funny that you mention radio stations. Love the variety ! It looks damn good.
Crippled herring works good for the Spanish, white or gold Gotcha Jigfish is another good one. I never liked the epoxy jigs. I can cast the metal jigs farther and when your running and gunning Spanish on baitballs it helps out.
Love the Spanish 🐟
I have never heard of mayo-based marinades for anything. Might-could try that some day.
Gonna try that mayo idea. Works great for chicken, pork, or turkey. Never thought to try it with fish.
my grandmother cooked the one i caught on the grill but she cut it in horse shoe shapes with the bone still in the middle and wrapped in bacon. it was AMAZING!! secret recipe she took to the grave
great video man keep up the good work
Great job landing
The yellow spots are a complete giveaway for a Spanish mackerel
Look at that SLAB of fish on that plate!!
That shinedown song has been playing on WMMR in PHilly for weeks!!! LMAO
Hey you should try pier fishing with gotcha plugs on piers for blues and s Mack’s during the spring oak island pier is the best
My dude got the macaroni straight back onto his arm🤦🏻♂️😂😂
Very nice Macks. At least compared to those I caught once at Sandy Hook. Yes they can really run. Wish I could find some not so south of NJ.
YUM big slice of fish
Over 19,000 views? And climbing on the subscribers? 👍👊 killer job man keep on!
Try steaking them and make a Jamaican chili pickled onion sauce its amazing
Spanish are awesome I maranate in olive oil garlic and oregano then grill it nothing better
Here in the usa the spotted are spanish macks, wavy lines are called king macks.
Here in Tampa Bay we catch monster spanish wading bro.
Well done! Was that Saturday?
add an egg to ur marinade and mince the fish into tiny bits with a knife or foodprocessor+ some tiny bits of onion and/or leak and make into fishcakes. much better :)
Love it sashimi
Idc what you catch and cook I just enjoy them either way
Looks Delicious
Man you have some of the best catch and cooks out there! Have you done a video on how to learn to fish a new area? You mentioned putting in time figuring things out and such how does one go about this?
Spanish macks are great for sashimi.
They are great smoked
Spots kings solid silver
Eli, dude. Those are really nice macks I catch them all the time from shore down here in st Pete. But let me tell you, you got lucky there, those things shake so fast when u land them. I though I was gonna see u get hooked in your legs. Careful man.
What kind of scissors were those that you were cutting the dill ? Beautiful fish the blue looks awesome
The easiest way to tell between a Spanish mackerel and a king mackerel is by the lateral.
What kind of boat they be fishing on I been seeing that on like 2 or 3 channels these small little canoe like fishing boats ?
Hey Elias, what Northeast fish do you think this recipe would work well with? It looks so simple yet so good man
Yum Yum great vid man.
A question please....sun glasses in your kitchen ????
I'm surprised you thought it was mild. Macks are more of a bait fish to me as they are so oily and bloody, next time try bleeding them right after you catch them, I've heard they are good smoked in a dip but I've never tried eating them
Nice vid! Where did you get the cooler bag from? I need one tall like that. Appreciate it
pretty fish
Do you have to bleed them before fillet them and eat?
Use gotcha plugs they destroy Spanish and blues up here on the outer banks the metallic ones work best for Spanish and the original or nuclear chicken color are good for blues
It is real good make sure you get fish very cold (ice it down) before you fillet it////
That fish to me looks like a spotted Mackerel. But still a very nice catch!
Very good. .
Hi Elias,
Here's a show request. Did you ever think of trying fishing lures that work up North
And using them hear in Wilmington, NC. Like the tube & worm? I know you don't like trolling! But it could be deadly on cobia .

Can i have some, it looks really tasty. I dont have a kayak or boat, I only fish on the dock of Long Island NY. I dont see any fish like this in the dock.
