This was so cute. It’s also so good to show her how much love you have for your cultures to bring them together in a single home. Very nice I’m so glad Irina has that
My first time learning and watching your video- I am from Bosnia, neighboring country to Serbia. It is so nice to see multi cultures merge and function so well. You are gorgeous lady!
Amazing video, Slim! Thanks for creating this video. I will have multicultural, biracial children because I am African American & Jamaican and my future husband is German.
Beautiful and educational video! Your daughter is definitely blessed to have you both emerge her in y’all cultures. She will appreciate it. I can’t wait when she visits Tanzania.
Your child is going to be so grateful one day to you both for making her trilingual. This is going to be extremely important for her future career, whatever it is.
Hello Slim enjoyed ur vlog of course! You both are doing a great job w your lil one. She’s at that age where she’s like a little sponge, absorbing it all. That’s great! Keep up the great work.!! 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
I love the fact that you will be encouraging her friend group to include both races and then some. I like the way you guys think about life and what that looks like for all of you. Well done.
You resemble your mother. It's amazing to see your child learning 3 languages. My grandson watches Ms Rachel as well. He has learned some sign language. You are a lovely family
I loved watching you cook with your mum, made me miss my mother. I have 3 girls below 10years and i always wonder how she would have been like with them 😊. I also could understand what your mother was saying being from neighboring country to Tazania, Zambia. That ugali (called nshima in my language) is so good for little ones.
I’m so sorry for your loss 😞❤️ and I’m sure she would’ve loved and cherished your little ones. The love my mom has for Irina is unmatched- Irina can do no wrong in her eyes ahahah And I love how similar our cultures are 🥰
Giiirl 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The growth that I've seen in you, your growing family, top tier!! I cannot wait to see what the future holds and hopefully we will witness it. ❤❤ Hongera!
Niw I see where you got your beauty, from your mom! I think y'all are doing a great job with your daughte, she's exposed to the different aspects of your cultures which is wonderful for her❤
I always wondered if you guys spoke to her in your respective languages, I know other couples do this as well! Really cool! She's also grown so quickly! 😍
You look like mama 😍😍😍 I hope one day you may recieve the cow dowry to solidify your union spiritually in the African way too ❤ to honour your ancestors and mama 🫂
Very interesting video and smart way of think. I really enjoyed listening to you. Rising biracial kids is not easy especially in the society we live in (with racism, cultural differences...). You are doing a great job with Irina.
When i first stumbled across your channel, seems like 2 years now, I remembered thinking, No way is she Tanzanian...she's so Americanized...lol Its awesome that you maintain your culture and you incorporated all the perspective cultures to create a balance for your Baby Girl and I love it.
Hahaha yeah a lot of people are shocked when I tell them I’m from Tanzania and then are gobsmacked when I speak Swahili 😂 it’s my favorite party trick lmao.
I’m with you 💯% on this It is really so nice to teach baby girl both languages it is so helpful😊. Tanzania has so many beautiful things to explore, to experience if you travel there you have to enjoy. ❤❤❤❤❤
I’m African American and Nigerian. The food your mom made reminds me of a dish my mom makes 😄 I’ve actually been craving it so much that I bought some of the ingredients I could to TRY and make it myself! Wish me luck.. lol Great video, your family is beautiful and awesome ❤
Hi Beautiful sweetie I was so happy to see you made another video , Honey have ever heard of the saying you been here before you have so much wisdom you and your husband teaching your daughter the important things of life , her culture, helping out in the kitchen and much more , you all are great parents an what you husband an grandparents teach her she will never forget an always cherish, raise an child in the way you want them to live 😊 yes you and mom are Twins Beautiful you are 💖💖💖💙🙏🏽forgive my typo 🤦🏽♀️

That is actually good that you are talking your African language to your child. Because I see Africans loosing their languages. It is wonderful seeing you guys grooming the child in your languages
Happy friday oh my just have not been on you tube for a ahile.Had to pop in say hi.Your daughter so cute love her.Just you are so lovely love you. Thanks for sharing stay bless love you❤
Thank you for addressing this issue, my son in law is Ugandan and my daughter is Serbian. My grandchildren are very aware of their culture, and know their history and traditions. It is difficult to keep those traditions going, but my daughter and son in law are very supportive. the older grand daughter is in a Serbian dance group, the kids go to church with me and join me in the choir. My hope is that all of this history isn't lost in the next generation.

Some of these comments are pissing me off girl. Some folks are truly so anti Afro American it’s disgusting. Anyway, I love that you embrace that side of your identity and have every intention on passing that down to your child. Some of these people don’t realize that African Americans are just as valid and rich in culture as continental Africans or Europeans or anyone else. Anyway girl, Irina is such a blessed little girl to have you both as parents. It’s nice to know that there are a least a few biracial kids growing up with some sense. Cause a lot of their parents dropped the ball with them unfortunately.
I've enjoyed watching you and your family grow and mature. Respect for each other is a major component in good relationships. For: “Love . . . does not look for its own interests.”-1 Corinthians 13:4, 5. Without respect, conversation between spouses can become laced with criticism, sarcasm, and even contempt-qualities that researchers say are early predictors of divorce. I pray for your continued success through life's constant challenges. Peace and love. . .🕊 “Clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience.”-Colossians 3:12. As already seen. . .
what if you can’t speak in your mother tongue well enough to teach it to a child? i’m sure in the beginning it would be fine but as they grow older, how do they pick up a language when you can only give them the elementary level 😅 i think immersion at that point would be best but it’s not always accessible
I would say immersion would be the best option - but like you said it’s not always accessible. I would watch tv shows and listen to music in that language with subtitles. Read books with translations and things like that. It would be challenging but there are ways!
If that’s what works for you all! However- we choose to teach her both sides of her cultures and identities. Both our very valid and welcomed in our home !
@Justslimm yes, definitely. The children are inquisitive and want to know everything so you teach them as I do but my son also knows that he is Serbian and when he is asked what nationality he is he says Serbian and doesn't bother explaining that he is half this and that. Where I am from I was taught that you are the nationality of your father. I'm pretty sure your husband was taught the same. I would also add that in your case if your beautiful girl told people she was Serbian then she would have lots more follow up questions hehehehehe my children are white so it's easier for me.
I know it would be highly inappropriate for you to video someone else’s wedding, not to mention downright rude but could we at least get to see what you guys look like in your wedding ‘fits? Also as a British woman can I just say I approve your British accent, I usually discourage Americans from trying it because they’re just horrible at it.😊
I don’t understand. If you are Tanzanian from Africa how is that like being a black American? Aren’t you just a Tanzanian in America? Black Americans have normally been in the US for 400 years, are mixed with all kinds of West African, Anglo-Saxon and native American blood, speak only English and have English first and last names. I would argue black Americans are just English ppl. It also applies to Dejan. He isn’t a white American. He’s a Serb living in America. He comes from completely different stock, completely different culture and speaks a completely different language. I don’t think you need to have a conversation about race with your daughter. I’m pretty sure she will figure out half her family are South Slavs and the other half Sub Saharan African. You are doing the best thing though. Speak both your languages and give her plenty of time around her extended family. The worst thing that could happen is your daughter and future children losing their identity and becoming just another Englishman.
Not necessarily. You can be African American and be Jamaican for example. The ethnic descriptor of “African American “ just means you are a descendant of chattel slavery in America. You can be multi ethnic and multi racial and still be African American. There’s tons of African American people I know who speak other languages such as Spanish because they’re Afro Latina, but also African American. Also not all African American people have “English names”. It’s common due to slavery but it’s not uncommon to find African American people with non English last names if they’re also multi ethnic like the previous example of also being Jamaican. And I disagree. I think all people should be taught about race. Otherwise you can grow up with incorrect assumptions. They should understand race is based on phenotype and the known categories based on where you live. Like in America there is 5 racial categories. But there’s also nationally, ethnicity, which are separate from race. Lots of people in their grown age still don’t understand these differences. A great example is that I have a friend who is black, but was born and raised in Germany. They are of black race, but ethnically they are Nigerian. But nationally they are German.
It's interesting that you are open to African American/Black American Culture being exposed to her cause I see a lot of people online say that their parents won't let them be apart of it at all. So it makes me wonder if you don't mind me asking why? Do you think that she will be around more black ppl in the us or because she will be seen as black? I hope I'm not being weird with this question it's just that I've noticed ppl from different backgrounds (that are mixed with or are black from different countries) usually stick to their own culture so I'm curious to why you would let her even tho she is not African American/Black American.
Well I grew up in the U.S.- so black American culture is also a part of my cultural identity. Although I am Tanzanian - I grew up with African American culture. I can’t speak on how people run their household- but because it is a part of my identity, I will pass it on to her. She is surrounded by Black people in her life. I’m black, her grandmother is black, aunts are black- she has black family members. I also have black friends. So black people will always be in her life.
Cute family can you try not to distract us with your hand gestures for every word. I find many young generation individuals do it as a fad. You’re not deaf or dumb so it’s unnecessary. When someone is trying to listen but all you see are hands in your face exaggerating every word it’s so annoying. It’s great you’re teaching your daughter your mother tongue of both cultures.
I have 5 Grown sons now(1 man child that lives withe and makes me laugh!!) anyway my x husband is puerto, rican ,im blk.nyway i taught my kids too embrace both sides. Now i try too cook alot of spanish food.

Glad it was helpful!
You have really beautiful hair, can you please give us a hair video one of these good days, how you grew it that long, how you take care of it etc?
Hey! I actually cut my hair off due to postpartum hairloss so now I’m on a hair growth journey. I do have a sew in though!
You look like mama 😍😍😍

Is your name slim based on Slim from 'Enough' the movie?
Funny enough I wanted that nickname after watching that movie. Years later though people started calling me Slim because I was smaller hahha
Has Dan learned any Swahili?
Yes! He needs to catch up though because my Serbian is better than his Swahili 😅
