Ugh. If a woman has a common hobby, she's basic. If she has an uncommon hobby, she's crazy. If she has no hobbies, she's boring. You can't win because the game is rigged. Do you. Reborns aren't really for me. But I can see the joy they bring you, and that's awesome❤
Yep 💯 women can’t have joyous hobbies that are in any way childlike unlike men that can have “toys” of any kind including Legos, and figures. They treat us the same in music fandoms too calling us crazy while they can cry and scream when their favorite sports team doesn’t win… the patriarchy sucks.

Your face looked so joyous and happy that I decided to click on the video, just to see your vibe, completely irrespective of the video content (I had only heard of Reborn Dolls in passing before). I am now commenting after only about 6 minutes to say: I am genuinely completely baffled that people can take such issue with seeing you do something that makes you happy. I'm honestly struggling to even understand how this could be so divisive. Whether people find them uncanny or not, this is your own personal hobby and that should be respected. I'm so glad you haven't allowed other people's close mindedness to shut you down ❤
Thank you so much! This comment made my day! I will say that the friends I lost were not the most accepting about other things (had made some vaguely homophobic/racist comments in the past), but I am autistic and find it very hard to make and keep friends, so I clung onto them for longer than I should have. I don't have much of a friend group anymore but the ones I do have are very precious to me, and we celebrate each other FOR our differences, not in spite of them. My husband collects Lego ❤️

I started collecting baby dolls after my husband passed away and I have no idea why! But my kids think I’m bonkers but they’ve accepted it. I’m of an age now where other people’s opinions don’t matter AT ALL! You younger gals will get there. Jess, your husband is a gem! 😊
Hi Mary, Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your darling husband. I too came across and started collecting reborns after my husband passed away. I had a memorial baby made to look like my hubby as a baby and I haven't looked back since, even having learnt the art of it...
Call my simple minded but I do NOT understand how someone would have a problem with someone ellseeeee buying or collecting things that aren’t harmful and make them happy.
Jealousy and the socialized view that women shouldn’t have hobbies that are childlike unlike men that can have dedicated LEGO rooms or favorite sports teams while if we are dedicated fans we are “crazy” and a lot of women have internalized misogyny to think that we are nutjobs or psychopaths when we like something not 100% subservient WOMAN things.
This is my first time commenting, I used to find reborns a bit weird until a few weeks ago your videos popped on my feed and I started to appreciate the art and effort the arts put into these dolls. ❤ Do what makes you happy.
Literally have no idea how or why your shorts started appearing for me but I was immediately fascinated…I am also an artist so seeing you paint so beautifully and realistically and seeing the end result, is incredibly impressive and just wow. Also you seem so sweet and ur energy is a joy to watch!!! I will never understand people being dismissive of “weird” hobbies. You are an interesting and talented person I am so sorry anyone especially “friends” made you feel otherwise…especially since you don’t really chose your hobbies when it comes it art…I think they chose you!! And making something beautiful can never be a bad or wrong thing. Keep doing what you’re doing!!! We love to see it!!! Please make some more long form videos on the process!!
Hey Jess!! thank you so much for this video! When I was 14 I was obsessed with reborns & dreamed of making my own, but had eventually fallen out of the hobby. I found your channel a couple of months ago on TH-cam and since then I’ve bought two babies, bought a costume, and have another in the making! Im currently saving so I can add a beauty made by you to my collection. However, you inspired me to begin reboring and I just started my first baby! I love hearing your story as well, I have manic depression, and I’m on the spectrum so I can relate to you so much! When nobody else understands, I love that I can flock to your channel and feel a sense of Safety & comfort! 🩷🩷
I love watching your videos! I crochet monster baby dolls (think baby werewolves and the Bamfs from X-Men) and I had never even considered trying something more realistic before. These look absolutely amazing!
My favorite TH-camr!! I realized toward the end of the video that I had had a smile on my face the whole time I was watching you! Your gorgeous smile and energy are contagious! Thank you for being here!! ♥️♥️
This brought back so many memories from my childhood. When I was about 13 all of my "friends" had moved on from toys and dolls but I hadn't. I remember asking my parents if it was weird that I still liked playing with dolls at my age and both of them said "no" but the societal pressure I felt led me to throwing away all of my dolls and conform myself to all of the superficial interests my "friends" had at the time. Part of me regrets doing this because I feel like if I had just given myself some time I would have naturally grown out of dolls at my own pace. But at the same time I'm also really happy with all of the childhood dreams that I have accomplished now at 30 years young 💕
My friendships are complicated. I have a twin and when we had our first day of school when we were 4, my sister made a friend. We were so united at that point that her friend also became mine. All of the friends my sister’s friend became my sister’s friend therefore my friend. Then when I was 11 because of Covid 19 they split the classes up at break time which is when we saw each other. I sat by myself every break until people came up and asked if I wanted to play. One day I would play football with the boys one day I would play a game with the group of girls and another day I would chat to this girl who at that point was my friend. We left that school to go to secondary school and I only went with me, my sister and one of the friends she made through her other friend. We were all in different classes. We met outside at break but when they both started making friends I ended up sitting by myself in my class. There was an occasional friendship that never lasted because people thought I was weird but mostly I would sit there and eat and then just stay seated in loneliness. Finally around 6 months ago, I made proper friends. It makes me so happy and even happier to think that they are now at a point where I can CALL them my friends. :) ❤
I can totally relate to that. I still played Barbies and with my dolls and Playmobil etc. Because my family told me to finally grow up and have grown up hobbies like doing sports and date and hang out with friends I didn't have, I turned to the Sims. This is my dollhouse until now. I'm 30 now. When my kids are out of the house, I will start playing again with dolls. I won't tell anyone because I don't want to embarrass my kids. I will do this just for me.
Same, I got away with it for a bit longer since I have younger sisters but eventually they also grew out of it. Video games have kind o filled that spot now. Dress up ones and such.
Aww it was so nice hearing your story and how you found this hobby. Of course, my favorite part is knowing that your husband (then boyfriend) was so very supportive of you. It warms my heart how your dad came around to the idea of it and how it takes pride in you being an artist. I love that for you!
Do what you enjoy! You don’t have to explain or justify to anyone except maybe your husband! Block haters! You don’t have to respond to every comment or criticism! God bless and your dolls are beautiful!
Thank you for posting. If your ex friends couldn’t accept you for who you are then your babies did you a huge favor. I have two reborns. Love them and love dolls. I’m 65 and yes I still have my Barbies. Sending you love and hugs.
You are a beautiful person with an amazing talent. I want to get a reborn one day and if any of my friends think I am crazy or quits being my friends well then they weren't truly a friend. You have gift for reborning and these beautiful babies bring joy and comfort to so many people. Even if they creep out a friend or family member that's their issue but its shouldn't effect how they feel about you. I am glad to hear your parents came around to your craft and collectibles. You're amazing and look forward to seeing future projects!
#1. You are so charming! #2. I love your accent #3 I’m so happy to hear how the Hobby has helped you. I too have found they have helped me as well. God bless you beautiful girl & keep smiling! You’re absolutely adorable!❤
I have reborns and like you they make me happy. I am a manager of a shoe store and the only employee here. One of my boy babies is here with me and everybody loves him. If they think I'm strange oh well I'm being me. God bless all reborn baby moms and dads
I really love your channel. I have been interested in a reborn to help with my healing process. I had a miscarriage in 2014 & also another just last year. My last one was a baby boy and I was so hurt at the loss of him. I am happy you posted your website because I do not want to get scammed. Thank you for sharing your story.
High five from one happily pet free person to another………………… also, I’m not a reborn doll collector, but I’m a dollhouse & miniature person, so I think it relates.
Thank you so much for sharing your story I loved hearing it and hearing how you became the artist and reborn collector you are now!! ❤ I also love how you share the consequences as well because not a lot of people think about them! 🙏💕
Idk what it is that feels different for me between the collecting (makes me feel weary/confused) vs the artistry (so fascinating and beautiful) but its obviously something people enjoy/need so thanks for sharing the process w us!
I have a collection of almost 200 Bratz dolls as well as random toys I've always felt kind of weird telling people about it. I would never judge you for your dolls 💔 I think you have amazing talent, and I envy you for your skills. That's not something many people would be able to do! They aren't cheap for a reason!
Enjoy your videos and rare topics, gets the attention of your viewers. Hoping in the future you can do a honest video start to finish painting a doll, a lot of time there is little things left out, that could help a new artist be more confident in Their Finished baby. But just learning to work with the paints of course is probably the biggest problem to overcome. Thanks for a great personality even when there is controversy, there always going to be negative no matter what we do.😊
Maybe because I'm an older sister but I have always loved caring for babies, I volunteered to help my mom as a kid whenever I got a chance. This was to the extent one of my younger sisters started calling me "mommy-la" a play on "mommy" and my own name. I was always "mom" when my friends and I played house but of course we grew up and that was no longer cool. When I was around eleven or twelve my younger sisters were now more independent and no longer needed that type of care and I was also "too old" to play with dolls. It was like I lost a important part of who I was. A way I showed my affection and love in a household where hugging and words of affirmation was uncommon. My family then moved and It was around this time I got diagnosed with General Anxiety disorder and Depression, the only healthy coping mechanism I had was petting and laying with my cat for hours. But my cat is a living animal who doesn't like being held and only wants to be pet for so long. My mental health got worse and worse over the next years and I was really struggling when I started holding an old baby doll at night and it was so calming, I found out about reborns and I desperately wanted one. I did my best to find an authentic one that I could personally afford with my saved money but was unable to convince my mom. She did eventually concede with a weighted plush doll which is nice. Holding it helped replace more dangerous coping mechanisms. I was actually Diagnosed with ASD around this time and I thought maybe that would help push my family to accept that I wanted one but no. Three years later and I'm still trying to convince her, it might have to wait until I'm eighteen next year at this point. It does hurt my feelings that its seen as creepy and weird, that they would rather try and make me find any other type of coping strategy then do one thats unconventional.
That is a hobby that I can see myself do. I have total respect for your craft. It would be great if there were some sounds of baby cooing on a reborn. Good job and great southing voice you have on your videos with that beautiful smile.
This is so fabulous! Thank you for your honesty, I can relate to your story so much. I’ve always loved dolls but reborns came into my life when I was really struggling with my infertility and wanting a baby of my own. My mom always complains about the price and says I’m “wasting” money but how can you put a price on mental health?? You can’t take it with you so what am I going to hoard money for?
I love Gudrun Legler babies. One of my first that I bought was Mathis by Gudrun. He is my husband's favourite of all my reborns that I've bought ready made. All her babies are gorgeous. When I eventually started to paint my own, I used air dry paints and made a lovely one that looked like one of my grandsons as a baby, but now it's all faded and I don't know why. I have others to paint, but daren't as I don't know how to prevent it happening again. Your babies are gorgeous 💞
Heyyy I’m Annie from New Brunswick Canada…and I, too, collect dolls. I’ve had a few Barbie’s but regrettably sold them in a Yardsale. I do have 4 or 5 real Reborns and a few knockoffs because I can’t work due to medical reasons so my money is very scarce. I have not yet bought a silicone for the simple reason they are too delicate. I have subbed to your channel
“My dad took me coming out to him as bisexual better than me coming out to him for collecting reborns.” That sentence made me pause. As a queer youth, hearing that hurt my heart. You being your genuine self doesn’t hurt anybody, whether bisexual or your hobbies. How he treated you at the start and how your friends treated you is beyond unfair. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Sending you a digital hug. 🫂 You’re valid and your videos always make me smile. Keep being you.
I just found your channel. I also have subscribed. I love the story of how you got into the hobby. I got into the hobby in the summer of 2020. I have always always loved baby dolls! Reborns are the cream of the crop!! Can't wait to to see more of your videos. Take care. 💕
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and getting to know more about you and your experiences with this hobby. It was so informative and relatable. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing you on the RAP Podcast. I’m very bad at keeping up with schedules & events due to white mater damage areas on my brain. It’s normal in aging but mine is worse due to life long chronic migraine syndrome and traumas. So I hope I don’t miss it live. Good luck with it. I’m so looking forward to meeting your hosts at the Yophi Doll Show in December. My hubby bought me tickets for my birthday #59!! Everyone will love you so don’t be nervous. Just be sweet wonderful you!
I like your way of explaining and using them for your mental healt. I am autistic aswell and unable to work or do volunteer work. I am currently looking into waldorf/natural fiber art dolls because they speak to me more then a reborn. Some have less facial features which makes them more 'safe' for me. I love yours story on why it is so hard when people don't get it or want you to make money off it.. I don't want to make money (not even allowed), I just want do something as a replacement for 'work'.. just to be busy or create something I am happy about without the 'pressure' of selling.. I rather gift it or have it on display. I will try to keep following you.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is always great to hear what people enjoy. (I think anyone who had such love of dolls throughout their life was born creative.)
I don't think collecting reborn dolls are weird, I don't even like reborn dolls but I love BJD dolls with semi realistic appearance because I love dress up games since I was a kid. I think your reborn dolls are so cool, it's not a weird hobby at all but an unique one, don't listen to people who judge you. Keep doing what makes you happy :)
I have the dress up game of the century for you, Style Savvy: fashion forward. I'm pretty sure its only on 3ds but its so worth it, I'm heavily addicted.
@@misopeachy Wow I actually never heard that game before, it looks interesting but sadly I don't have Nintendo 3Ds 😭 But I recently played Live Makeover and I'm so addicted already
Your husband is so right. You do you and ignore anyone who hates on the idea. It’s your money, they’re not paying for anything so they have no right to an opinion. I lost a lot of ‘friends’ when I became housebound due to illness. I know it’s not the same but your true friends accept you as you are. ❤
Hi Jess, hope you are well. I guess that your mum's experience of your art explains very well my fascinación with what you do. I have never had baby dolls but I just find how you work on your dolls and make them look human amazing! I have to say I find it utterly bizarre rejecting someone for a harmless hobby. I know it too well because of people being repulsed by my exotic pets and saying utterly vicious things about living beings that I love. One thing I have learnt is being a bit "weird" is an excellent selecting tool. I don't think I want such judgemental and unkind people in my life so I am glad they saw themselves out. X
@@rebornsofjess aww! I love snakes! I have royal pythons, a dwarf boa 3 ksbs and tarantulas. Oh, some flower beetles and emerald cockroaches too! I just love a lot of the things that other people find gross and creepy I guess!
I just come across your channel a few weeks ago and thanks to you I now officially own two reborn a Trent and a Saskia (still waiting for her to arrive ❤) - I’ve always wanted a reborn but you gave me the push I needed! Do you make magnetic pacis? If so do you think you could show us how they’re made? If not any idea where to get any?
I think it's okay to have weird hobbies, but I would get concerned about it being an unhealthy coping mechanism for loneliness, especially since you mentioned feeling alone at the beginning of this hobby. But you seem to have found new friends through this hobby so good for you :)
A lovely story. I like your channel and love your dolls. I collect vintage Hamilton China dolls. Some people think it's weird, my husband thinks they're cute. There are so many doll enthusiasts around. I would love a reborn, but don't have the courage x
Hey Jess! You're gonna get a lot of outsiders here in the comments, and I find it interesting how artistry/dynamics of all doll hobbies have their moments of overlap. I'm a doll collector and have been on-off over the years. Moral of the story is that the people who do love you will not care what you're into. I think some people read too deep into all reborn collectors because there's a pretty vocal minority of people who basically LARP parenting - but that comes with the territory of being in any niche hobby. I always say, it's best to being doing anything that isn't on my phone or compy!
I have a reborn and he is a Fake reborn because I Just Loved the pictures He was my first and I Love him so much but in November im going to a reborn Festival and im scared of the reactions of the real artists because you can see that it's a Fake reborn but I (I Just bougth I haven't painted him) I Love your Videos
How do you tell real from fake? Also, I got two open eye reborns from goodwill for 7 bucks apiece. Thrift stores do NOT realize what they're selling. I only have those two, but I love them. One baby was done differently than usual. One of them might be a knockoff though, and I don't know how to tell, other than that whoever put her together didn't weight her. Knockoff or not, I love her, but I would like to know how to tell.
You're the reason I wanteed to start making newborn babies, but I dont want the cloth body, full silicone baby. Also, the whole copy right issues, etc... still in the process of learning more
A reborn baby would make a good halloween decoration. Like a zombie theam reborn baby at attach to the ceiling, exorcist style would be a good statement pieces.
I do watch your videos and love your work!! I want one of your babies someday!!❤❤ do you find yourself wanting to try silicone babies? I think you would be awesome. ❤❤ i enjoy your positive and smiling face !! I loved meeting your husband and the shorts you do together ❤️ ❤️ and loved your wedding!! Im so glad this grew to where it is now to show those so called friends how happy and prosperous youve become!!❤❤❤
Oh my goodness those dolls on your website. They are so cute. You do a great job. I’m so sorry that I can’t purchase one as I don’t have my own money for myself because I don’t have a job and my mom won’t let me just buy them with her card so yeah that’s where I’m at right now.😢❤😊
It’s ridiculous they way some of your friends reacted. I recently started collecting American Girl dolls, and my close friends have been nothing but supportive. I can’t imagine my friend starting a new hobby that they’re excited about and me rejecting them for it. Most of my friends are neurodivergent, and I am, too, so I think we trend toward more accepting.
As someone else who also has hobbies deemed as strange (cosplay/costuming, including "furry" fur suiting), I cannot and never will understand why people treat it as anathema. So porcelain and Barbie doll collecting is OK, but collecting dolls of realistic babies isn't? Who gets to decide that?? People can shoot animals, have them taxidermized and hung on a wall, but heaven forbid someone enjoys crafting and painting dolls. It will NEVER make sense. 😑 I do admit to a tiny bit of "uncanny valley" syndrome when I see some of the Reborns, but not enough to denounce the craft or the people who enjoy it. And the comfort these little babies can bring to those who need it - be they suffering from a loss of an actual child, lonely and needing something to role play with, or just loving the hobby & collecting - makes any odd feelings I have completely moot and inconsequential. PLEASE keep doing what you're doing! Final comment: I've mostly seen your work as TH-cam shorts, and those are usually you responding to negative comments or nasty claims of racism. Your answers are so charitable, patient, and level. That sort of calm response to hatred is admirable, and something I'm trying to model to temper my own responses to hate. (I also love your use of dry British humor - just my style!)
I have been wanting a baby doll of my own, but I’m scared and I’m not sure if I can keep it a secret for long, do any of you all have any tips on how I can keep this a secret
I’ve wanted to get one of these baby dolls but. Been to scared of what other will think. I Over think a lot and my anxiety is really bad so. So just the thought of what others will think makes me super scared.
I agree had similar that happened with my Nino she painted him 3 days and I kept saying no hurry take your time it wasn't for Xmas etc but nope said she didn't want anything in her workroomfrom xmas to Jan mind you he was supposed to done after January. She didn't finish his painted hair, and no veining was basic painting like Ashton Drake I was disappointed she never went by what agreed on the form. But to paint in 3 days, I even mentioned that no hurry wasn't expected until after January because was going have hair root but basically was told either accept the doll or nothing because no refund. So naturally accept the doll what so sad I was return customer but thought after agreed on custom form and paying much more then I ever had. But no longer socialize nor would I promote her.
Do you ever take them out in public? That's when they help me the most. But it's really scary making myself so vulnerable. Also, I know a lot of people in my community. My dad died before I started this. I can't imagine how mean he would be about it. I'm thankful he won't get that chance.
I do take them out occasionally, usually in a pram. During the pandemic I got really anxious about leaving the house and having the pram saved me and enabled me to go out on my own ❤️
Having friends with different hobbies rly is one of the biggest joys like do I want to go play football with my friends? Absolutely not. Am I happy to hear them talk about and explain it to me? 100% yes please
I'd say definitely use primer and don't panic if the paint doesn't stick super well! I thought I was doing something wrong when the paint wouldn't stick to the hands and feet, but it's not you, it's the kit! They're great to practice on though!
It does appear most of the comments say what I have to say. I'm not at all into reborn dolls, and, it's okay that others are. I'm different, I have very niche hobbies too. If I judged someone for their harmless interests, I leave myself open to someone having the right to judge me. I get joy from seeing other people have joy, joy is the good kind of infectious
I do! Hopefully soon! Honestly I don't know whether I'll continue collecting, I don't think I'll sell them but I will likely not interact with them as much. Hard to tell until I actually have a baby. I have PCOS though so it's likely my fertility will be affected.
I think your dad just wanted you to be ok. not the way I would do it. but you can think about your family member started to talk to dolls. I would be scared if it might be something wrong that they did not want to say. and thinking about how other people would treat them. I can get it. and I am happy he came around
Girl, this video was WILD! I can’t believe so many people reacted negatively to your freaking HOBBY. It’s doll collecting (and creation). Since when is doll collecting seen as subversive? No one in my life has reacted negatively to my reborns, and I’m starting to feel lucky that everyone’s been so supportive. Holy crap. It’s lovely that your husband has been behind you since the start. He sounds like a good man. ❤️ BTW, your videos totally sucked me back into the world of reborning. I hadn’t made a doll in maybe 14 years, and your short about people calling you racist for your doll choices somehow showed up in my feed. I’m the one who commented about how I had so much trouble with darker skin and ended up using an airbrush. (Side note: I looked up on Amazon how much I’d spent on that airbrush set, and I was very wrong about my guess of $60-$80. It was about $100 back then, and that same beginners set is like $140 now.) Anyhoo, I started getting out my old supplies and kits, and now I’m fully sucked back into the doll making world. Why is this so addicting? 😵💫
Oh my goodness! I know, the reactions have been crazy, I actually cut a bit out of this video about my aunt and grandad's reactions 😅 How did you get on with an airbrush?? I've been so tempted to try one but it's a big expense if it doesn't work well. I'm using air dry paints and find so much lint gets in the paint (possibly from the brushes).
@@rebornsofjess I’ve been alternating between heat set paints and air dry just to test things out and see what I like, but I’ve been using the airbrush with Ultimate Fusion and I really like it. It’s great for quickly doing washes and SUPER helpful when doing darker skin tones. It would definitely help with reducing the fuzz bits that want to stick to everything. If you keep the spray light and keep the brush moving, you don’t have to pounce with a brush or sponge or anything. I use a couple drops of Blendflow in my wash mixes when I use it, but any flow medium should work. Definitely worth the investment in my eyes just for the time it saves me. I can put about 6 wash layers on a doll in half an hour. Just be careful to hit the parts from all angles, because it’s easy to miss some of the little bits where there’s more depth to the kit (like some creases and around the nose/inner eye sockets). Hope this helps ❤️
@@rebornsofjess I like them a lot, but they’re expensive af 🤑I’m going to give Golden a go and see how I get on. So many people say they love them, and they’re way more cost effective.

Aww thank you so much!! I will definitely try to keep up the long form ❤️
Same here! Thanks
Hey Jess!! thank you so much for this video! 🩷🩷
Oh my goodness this is such a beautiful comment to read ❤️ I'm so glad I've helped in some small way!
Aww this is such a wonderful comment to read ❤️ screenshotting it to add to my folder of best comments
I regret selling some of my Barbies/Polly pocket at car boot sales, I had a few that would be worth quite a bit now 😅
@@rebornsofjess SAME! I had no idea the Erika doll from Barbie Princess and the Pauper was si freaking expensive until a couple of months ago 😭
Your husband is WOW. You're very lucky to have him in your life. 😍
And my impression from watching you - with your joyful smile and open-hearted nature, is that he is very fortunate to have you!
Thank you so much for your videos! They're truly so relaxing and your positivity and bubbly personality make them so nice to watch 🩷🩷🩷
#1. You are so charming! #2. I love your accent #3 I’m so happy to hear how the Hobby has helped you. I too have found they have helped me as well. God bless you beautiful girl & keep smiling! You’re absolutely adorable!❤
Thank you so much!
I have reborns and like you they make me happy. I am a manager of a shoe store and the only employee here. One of my boy babies is here with me and everybody loves him. If they think I'm strange oh well I'm being me. God bless all reborn baby moms and dads
Oh wow! I'd love to come into a store and find a reborn to look at ❤️
You are incredibly talented and some of the babies you show on your videos are just adorable, do what makes you happy ❤
I really love your channel. I have been interested in a reborn to help with my healing process. I had a miscarriage in 2014 & also another just last year. My last one was a baby boy and I was so hurt at the loss of him. I am happy you posted your website because I do not want to get scammed. Thank you for sharing your story.
High five from one happily pet free person to another…………………
also, I’m not a reborn doll collector, but I’m a dollhouse & miniature person, so I think it relates.
Thanks for sharing Jess... love getting to know ppls reasons of why they are in the hobby of reborns and how they come across reborns...
You are such a sweet person.
Thank you for explaining how you got into this! Very interesting
I love your long form content! Your channel is a big inspiration of mine, and hearing your story was great ❤
Thank you so much!
Thanks for a great personality even when there is controversy, there always going to be negative no matter what we do.😊
You’re an absolute joy! Definitely love your videos. ❤
Your dad's correct. You're one of the best reborn artists I've come across ❤️
If I was a lot younger(I am 90 years old) I might start thinking about ReBorn Dolls as a pastime. Greetings from New Zealand.
You are a charming and inspiring young lady. I learnt how to fill a cuddle body from watching one of your videos.
I'm glad I could help!
I really enjoyed this video Jess. Thank you for sharing with us xx ❤❤❤
“My dad took me coming out to him as bisexual better than me coming out to him for collecting reborns.”
That sentence made me pause. As a queer youth, hearing that hurt my heart. You being your genuine self doesn’t hurt anybody, whether bisexual or your hobbies. How he treated you at the start and how your friends treated you is beyond unfair. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Sending you a digital hug. 🫂
You’re valid and your videos always make me smile. Keep being you.
Thank you ❤️ my mum had a much harder time accepting my sexuality, which surprised me! I wish everyone could just be themselves ❤️
I just found your channel. I also have subscribed. I love the story of how you got into the hobby. I got into the hobby in the summer of 2020. I have always always loved baby dolls! Reborns are the cream of the crop!! Can't wait to to see more of your videos. Take care. 💕
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your story and experience 💜
You seem like such a sweet person, I Love your babies.
I love how I get your vids on my feed like I would never collect these or anything but like YOUR JOY
Aw this comment made me smile so much!
I get why people see that it’s creepy, but it harms no one! It’s a doll! I see no problem with it!
@@chibi_okami I just looked up Live makover and omg the graphics are so pretty!
Your husband is so right. You do you and ignore anyone who hates on the idea. It’s your money, they’re not paying for anything so they have no right to an opinion. I lost a lot of ‘friends’ when I became housebound due to illness. I know it’s not the same but your true friends accept you as you are. ❤
Your reborn dolls are wonderful and so is your attitude to life. Ignore the trolls btw
100% agree with all of this! What pets do you have? I have a corn snake!!
Hi Jess new subscriber from Australia. I found the chat very interesting and am looking forward to more video's. Thank you so much. ❤
A lovely story. I like your channel and love your dolls. I collect vintage Hamilton China dolls. Some people think it's weird, my husband thinks they're cute. There are so many doll enthusiasts around. I would love a reborn, but don't have the courage x
It was interesting to hear about how you got into the hobby 😃❤️
WE JUST LOVE YALL ❤❤❤
BEAUTIFUL DOLLS ❤
BEAUTIFUL Babys ❤
I don't keep reborns, but I keep tarantulas and get a very similar response. You will find friends in your community in no time, you seem lovely.
I have a reborn and he is a Fake reborn because I Just Loved the pictures He was my first and I Love him so much but in November im going to a reborn Festival and im scared of the reactions of the real artists because you can see that it's a Fake reborn but I (I Just bougth I haven't painted him)
I Love your Videos
How do you tell real from fake?
Also, I got two open eye reborns from goodwill for 7 bucks apiece. Thrift stores do NOT realize what they're selling. I only have those two, but I love them. One baby was done differently than usual. One of them might be a knockoff though, and I don't know how to tell, other than that whoever put her together didn't weight her. Knockoff or not, I love her, but I would like to know how to tell.
You are a beautiful soul. ❤
You’re work is beautiful 😊
You're the reason I wanteed to start making newborn babies, but I dont want the cloth body, full silicone baby. Also, the whole copy right issues, etc... still in the process of learning more
I collect build a bears and I saw your video in recommendations i love your channel
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I have been tempted to try silicone painting but don't really have the space right now. Maybe one day!!
i will happily be your friend! ❤ I live in the USA but distance is just a number
Oh my goodness those dolls on your website. They are so cute. You do a great job. I’m so sorry that I can’t purchase one as I don’t have my own money for myself because I don’t have a job and my mom won’t let me just buy them with her card so yeah that’s where I’m at right now.😢❤😊
Thank you for sharing.
Your babies are very cute!!
Hey Jess what is the name of the second baby you had I like that sculpt alot Please❤
Love your video and your reborn story!❤❤
As someone else who also has hobbies deemed as strange (cosplay/costuming, including "furry" fur suiting), I cannot and never will understand why people treat it as anathema. So porcelain and Barbie doll collecting is OK, but collecting dolls of realistic babies isn't? Who gets to decide that?? People can shoot animals, have them taxidermized and hung on a wall, but heaven forbid someone enjoys crafting and painting dolls. It will NEVER make sense. 😑
I do admit to a tiny bit of "uncanny valley" syndrome when I see some of the Reborns, but not enough to denounce the craft or the people who enjoy it.
I started making my dolls during lockdown as well. I was all alone as well. Me and my fiance split up and I had nobody but my cats
I’ve wanted to get one of these baby dolls but. Been to scared of what other will think. I Over think a lot and my anxiety is really bad so. So just the thought of what others will think makes me super scared.
Great job! Your meant for this ❤
I agree had similar that happened with my Nino she painted him 3 days and I kept saying no hurry take your time it wasn't for Xmas etc but nope said she didn't want anything in her workroomfrom xmas to Jan mind you he was supposed to done after January.
During the pandemic I got really anxious about leaving the house and having the pram saved me and enabled me to go out on my own ❤️
My mom said only 1… I have 5 😂
Having friends with different hobbies rly is one of the biggest joys like do I want to go play football with my friends? Absolutely not. Am I happy to hear them talk about and explain it to me? 100% yes please
Oh I'm a newbie artist and about to paint bountiful baby kit Michael got me worried now lol
I'd say definitely use primer and don't panic if the paint doesn't stick super well! I thought I was doing something wrong when the paint wouldn't stick to the hands and feet, but it's not you, it's the kit! They're great to practice on though!
@@rebornsofjess I've heard that putting a couple of drops of refined linseed oil is meant to help
Hi love. I would really like to talk to you about how to paint hair. Your work is so beautiful. Is there any way to message you
Those so-called friends who can't accept your hobby, aren't your friends. I just got into the miniature dollhouse hobby. Whatever makes you happy.
Do you plan on having babies of your own? If so, will you continue collecting reborns?
I do! Hopefully soon! Honestly I don't know whether I'll continue collecting, I don't think I'll sell them but I will likely not interact with them as much. Hard to tell until I actually have a baby. I have PCOS though so it's likely my fertility will be affected.
❤
BTW, your videos totally sucked me back into the world of reborning.
I know, the reactions have been crazy, I actually cut a bit out of this video about my aunt and grandad's reactions 😅
How did you get on with an airbrush??
@@seeker8097 oh my goodness this is incredibly helpful, I've been thinking of trying UF as well so might take the plunge on all of it 😅
@@rebornsofjess I like them a lot, but they’re expensive af 🤑I’m going to give Golden a go and see how I get on. So many people say they love them, and they’re way more cost effective.
