Thanks for the enthusiasm Gavin, but at 350 dollars per 24 packs I sincerely doubt many people will be drafting this product. It's not financially responsible me to gamble 50 dollars and open Boompile and Drakuseth :(
this looks like a very fun and well-designed product! as a Commander player who's recently gotten into draft, I would love to have the opportunity to draft this. Unfortunately, due to the price point, it's unlikely that I'll be able to afford it, and it's even more unlikely that I'll be able to find 7 of my friends who can also afford it. I wish this was priced closer to a normal set - that way, the reprints could actually bring down the market prices of the Commander staples in the set
Draft tip: When drafting you're gonna have to choose between drafting a deck and drafting cards that don't make you feel like you just dumped your wallet in a bin.
Gavin I be real with you. I was looking forward to this and I am excited with the set, but the price means it is not worth it for me. If I can build a deck for the price of a commander draft then I will do that instead of drafting. You aren't at fault for the pricing and I am sad as I missed the last two commander drafts and some of those cards became my favourites. However I don't feel like I am alone with this. It feels like you are setting this set up to flop and then the next premium set will be even more expensive leading to less people buying it and so on . again not on you. just makes me sad
Easy. Just Have the money to do so. Unfortunately, I do not have it and Wizards are asking an overwhelming price for the booster box of Commander Masters in Brazil :( For them, Magic isn't about the community, it's just about the money.
wotc and hasbro are just too greedy at this point, the set is overpriced everywhere. Worthless bulk cards in a set where the packs cost 2-3x the price of a nomral booster pack
Something I think people are forgetting is that selllers are overpricing it for a reason. Last year, they had double masters at preorder for $200, people preordered, and they had to honor the original price. Meanwhile, had the product been worth less, the buyers could’ve canceled their order and bought it for the lower price. The sellers were getting burned.
It sucks that you get the blowback for WOTC, but I appreciate your enthusiasm Gavin! I'm looking forward to seeing the Slivers deck as I pre-ordered it from my LGS :)
I also love commander draft. Buy god damn this set is too much. Please respond to feedback wizards, we don’t like products that cost a whole triple A video game for one draft.
It's unfortunate what Hasbro is doing to MTG. Would like to draft CM but the cost is nowhere near justifiable. Kudos to Gavin for remaining enthusiastic throughout despite the obvious issues behind the scenes.
Cool decision on giving 1-colored commanders partner. Heard about this house rule a few years ago at commander cube at my lgs, and found it super elegant and sweet, happy to see it get the recognition it deserves.
I loved how you explained mana curves to people. I think thats a concept that many MTG players might not be as familiar with. Especially newer Commander players. I thought you did a great job explaining how this moght be a bit different from a traditional draft format. I am looking forward to seeing experimenting with thebpartner mechanic with these mono-colored legends. Fun idea! This is probably going to be even more fun than the last two Commander draft sets combined!
There's no reason for this being a masters set. No one wanted that. They could have reprinted all the same cards and called it comander legends 3 and priced it normally like 6ish a pack for a legends set and it would've been the best selling set of the year....
It's a bit disappointing that there's no prerelease packs for Commander Masters that's a variation of the kits suitable for the commander format. I bet it would be an interesting experience to open them during a prerelease event.
The thriving lands are, in my opinion, the best mana fixing ever conceived for limited formats and I’m so happy to finally see them in a draft environment!
If you are asking people pay $350 for a masters set, perhaps focus less on making it draftable, and focus more on the needed reprints. Not many people are going to be drafting this set, so it will really suck to open a 20 cent bulk rare that was put in the set just for draft purposes when you are paying $15+ per pack.
I'd rather have them make it a draftable set and not charge completely unreasonable amounts of money for it. There are a ton of cool commons and uncommons that deserve a reprint based on playability and fun factor that work for draft as well. At this price tho, basically anything that isn't Force of Will - level is a dud
@@Blacklodge_Willy oh I absolutely agree that they're trying to milk the customers way too hard. A regular draft is still fine at my LGS but I actually don't know what these premium events cost.

Where I live the box is 294,90 € in preorder. Does this imply that if my store organize a 8 player pod draft we could expect 36.8625 € to draft with 3 boosters of 20 cards 🤔 ? 20 cards per boosters including 1 legend R/M + 1 R/M + 2 Legends U for sure. So to round some numbers for ~ 37€ you'll get ~ 3 boosters at 12€ each. You'll then end up with at least 6 rares with maybe mystics depending how the pod would decide to distribute the R/M. Living the draft experience for 37€ and leaving with potentially 6 rares would imply 6€ the rare... When you compare regular price drafts in stores are 15€ for 4 boosters (3+1 bonus booster), you then end up with at least 4 Rares that would imply 3.75€ a rare. Since there is only 24 boosters in a commander master box their is no bonus boosters. So the "reasonable" price a store should sell a draft experience would be 6x3,75€ =22.5€ (price per rare). So for me stores should propose Commander masters drafts for 22.5€ max I guess, with no bonus boosters, even for the winner since the box doesn't have extra boosters. If you local store propose this price let me know I'm curious.

"Commander draft is one of my favorite ways to play" Mine too! BUT nobody is :) No one in my playgroup can draft sets like this. I'd be stoked to, but the vast majority of players don't want to risk that kind of cost! From a gameplay perspective, you gotta consider the cost, right? When a player drafts, sometimes they get unlucky, and it's frustrating to get mana screwed or hate drafted when they spent hard earned money and a Friday night to coordinate the experience. Variance is inherent in MTG, but at these prices? No way. This is a set for the scalpers. I'll buy a single or two from the LGS and be done with it.
Huge balancing issue with all mono-colored legends having partner. Starting with an EXTRA CARD, especially one that can be recast from the command zone is SO powerful that it will be the vastly superior option to ANY of the 2 or 3 color commanders. Unimagineable that any single legend can stand up to something like Selvala/Urza. Drafting two mono-colored legends is going to be the only way to go in the format
Same was true of the last 2 Commander draft sets...and they worked fine. Is this higher power? Sure, but most Masters set drafts are more powerful than supplemental set drafts...and they also work out fine. Multiple recent standard sets have had way more unbalanced environments than any Commander/Masters set has ever had.
So 90% of drafters are supposed to draft mono-color/colorless, then? There are 19 multi-color legends spoiled so far, and 18 of them are rare or higher. There aren't going to be enough Prismatic Pipers to go around if everyone had to run 2 of them.
Isn't it like $60 do do draft. Are u saying that I have to openy packs then give the remaining cards to other players? Wouldn't I just want to get all the hits? Regardless of I lose
@@jasonkorf7700 it's not just pretty big. it's way too damn greedy and unsustainable. Idk what the hell hasbro and wotc are thinking, but this is no way to go about pricing a set, then throwing in bulk rares to add insult to injury.

It might be tokens (not this time cause of BW, but still), legends (or "historic" if you wish, there a lot of cards in those colors that cares about it), graveyard shenanigans (like Lorehold did it), heroic or even extra combats. If you don't want this, just made new one, but don't hung up boros on equipment. Do more about exiling staff (Laelia-like but in RW, it's natural for these colors. Cards both on the battlefield for white and out of it for red (impulse draw)).
@@Hakaze there nothing wrong with equipment, it's nice mechanic that interesting to play. But it's not the only mechanic that exists and it's just sad to see, that more than a half of products use exactly this mechanic for boros.
Master 25 was released in 2018. Even back then people were complaining about how overpriced these types of products were and how frustrated they felt being priced out of it. Even MaRo admitted that there was a lot of negativity around expensive products. But despite that, here we are again in 2023. I don't want to be mean but after all these VIP boosters, expensive master sets, 30th Edition, etc... after all these years what I get is that clearly suits at WotC are only seeking higher and higher profit even if it means that it is to the detriment of the customers, even if it hurt the community. WotC show again and again that they are hypocrites and that they don't care for real about LGSs, community and players/customers. I'm sure WotC staff and people like Gavin and MaRo like us, they do not agree with all the directions and all the suits decisions. But, honestly such products are one of the many reason I quitted MTG this year (yeah and can quit and still watch mtg related video on YT from time to time, I just no longer buy any MTG or nor play). I turned to video games as a hobby. Way more worth my money. Can get a triple AAA game for the same price as a collector booster of CM. A booster of CM with last 5 min and it could result on me being happy or deceived about my pull and then most of the cards in pack end up in binders. A video game for the same price I will have fun playing for hours. Currently playing and modding Fallout 4 that I bought for 60$ in 2016. Over 300 hours in... now that is money well spent. I hear each year a bunch of people who heard about MTG and they don't want to try it. They don't want because the general public perception of MTG is that is a very expensive hobby. And that is effectively a very expensive hobby, especially when you have more and more sets like LOTR and CM that are crazy overexpensive. WotC suits have no idea how many people they could get playig and how much MTG could strive if the prices were more affordable. It looks like WotC prefer to have 1 whales buying a box at 400$ than 4 people buying a box of CM at 100$. They prefer having 1 whale being happy to engae with the product even if it means 4 other customers will feel they are priced out of the game.
I would like WotC consider making it a norm that all draft products they would be making can be accessible for all. That means that no draft packs should cost over 5 bucks even for a master sets. This way everyone could drfat the products. After that if they want to add collector boosters at 50$ each I would not mind. But product like CM aimed to be drafted should not cost 15$+ per boosters has it isn't within budget of most people. Look, a bunch of people could be able to spend 50$ for a single draft, but at this price it is not reasonnable to do so for them. It is hard earned money and at 50$ for a draft you have to think twice or more cause high chance it would be more responsible to put that 50$ on something else.
@Servbot40 2 of 3 of those cards sound way too busted for paiper. mind's desire is probably fine, but I don't think wrath or god or karn should downshift anytime soon, even if I really want karn for my tron deck.
@Servbot40 I would like pauper to reprint the cascade cards for a really fun but dumb pauper deck I built. deadly dispute also needs to be reprinted into the ground imo. anything at common shouldn't cost more than £1/$1/€1 or w/e your local currency is. Other than that, pauper is fine imo

I'd love to draft it but a box is like $400 and doesn't even come with enough packs to draft with all my friends. Only 24 packs in a box? Only 4 in a collector booster box?! At least the packs have more than 5 cards in them this time.

Commander legends: battle for baulders gate was my favorite game experiences ive had in the last 5 years of getting back into magic. I drafted it 6 times and dont regret a single playthrough. I would love to have the same experiences with this set, but I cant afford the price increases.
Oh wow, I hadn't realized it was going to be a different draft format. This sounds like it would be pretty fun! While I do echo the sentiments of the cost, I feel doing this at least once or twice at a release event for something new to try would be great.
Really hoping my local store has the entry for draft at a reasonable price because man those draft box prices are a bit steep but then again, they are a distributor so they aren’t going to screw me over with inflated prices…
Can we stop reprinting and creating in general lands that have no choice but coming into play tapped please? If you're going to reprint lands let's do the shocks lands or other lands that have the option to come into play untapped. In addition it be really nice to see a cycle of tri colored lands with basic land types that function like the shock lands. Though instead of paying 2 life we do 3 life. Could call the "bolt" lands
Really blows my mind how you charge this much for a set that you want ppl to draft. You guys really need to focus on either premium reprints or draft cause clearly you don’t know how to do both.

No one in my playgroup can draft sets like this.
Mama curve doesn’t matter when hasboro gets their greedy hands on it.
Price masters😂
I like the portrait-style alternative card treatment of the legends! It’s cool seeing older legends up close and personal!
I wished I could draft this, but none in my friends group are a millionaire..
Isn't it like $60 do do draft. Are u saying that I have to openy packs then give the remaining cards to other players? Wouldn't I just want to get all the hits? Regardless of I lose
You could do sealed instead of draft. Open 6 packs and build a deck with what you got.
But with the insane price just dont bother.
If Kazuul is printed at uncommon im playing draft for sure
Why in the world should a COMMANDER MASTERS set be designed around drafting? It's purpose is to provide needed reprints for Commander!!!!!
Im confident most people only care about the value reprints in a set this expensive.
Which is a shame, since this set looks interesting to draft, but the price tag for this product is a pretty big barrier.
@@jasonkorf7700 it's not just pretty big. it's way too damn greedy and unsustainable. Idk what the hell hasbro and wotc are thinking, but this is no way to go about pricing a set, then throwing in bulk rares to add insult to injury.
Gavin i know you don't care but boxes are $500+ nobody will be able to draft this set which sucks so bad
Not a whale - no thank you
Step 1 to draft commander maters pull this out 💳. Congrats you have drafted the 'premium' product.
Why every time RW is equipment? It's sad(
What WR archtype would you rather it be?
@@Hakaze idk, anything. It's like there no other mechanics in these colors.
Need more downshifts for pauper!
*GREED*
I participate in a Masters Draft in my LGS for 45€. This is o.k.
A whole Display for 350 in a Set that is only Reprints? Definitively not
"How to draft commander masters.
Step 1: Sell a kidney or inherit great wealth;
Look, some magic products aren't for everyone. If you haven't restricted your alcohol intake, or exploited workers to the point you're independently wealthy and can buy said kidney, this one may not be for you."
Cool Set, uncool price. So "Singles only" again.
I'd like it more if draft didn't cost almost the same price as a videogame. There's no way it's financially feasible for so many people when you guys are charging as much as you are for a draft.
I'd love to draft it but a box is like $400 and doesn't even come with enough packs to draft with all my friends. Only 24 packs in a box? Only 4 in a collector booster box?! At least the packs have more than 5 cards in them this time.
A draft pod is with 8 people with 3 packs. 8×3 is 24. 175 is what I would pay for a draft box.
You don't, keep scrolling
Why is Yargle here? The joke is old stop. If you want people yo go “haha Yargle”, make more stuff like the Yargle secret lair or Yargle&Multani, that’s actually PLAYABLE. I was sick of opening him in MOM as a completely unplayable uncommon slot, and even if I were able to afford this set I’d be even angrier at opening him here
Yargle with partner (at least for the draft format) might actually be viable, though.
Where is pauper?
So what is the excuse at wizards for pricing players out of the game?
Price is to high for this set. My local LGS is charging $60 for the draft. That’s $20 for a single draft pack. Thanks wizards for making this game unaffordable to the people who love it
That sucks to hear. I'm thankful my lgs gives me great prices.
The twist is that you can't actually afford to draft this
The main diff is 3/4x the price. Poor shops
Why don't you just make the partner rule valid for all legends? It's just fair...
I mean why would I draft comander masters for 60 dollars when I can buy a box of baulders gate for 95 dollars and get 2 drafts.
Nice, but no one in my lgs are going to play this because of the price
And I thought regular drafting was expensive. Lmao
Imagine being able to draft, my lgs can’t even sell packs
Really blows my mind how you charge this much for a set that you want ppl to draft.
You guys really need to focus on either premium reprints or draft cause clearly you don’t know how to do both.
This seems to be the ultimate magic the gathering format
350 per box? Lmao dude just print the cards wotc greed knows no limit
Yay cartographers hawk!
I hate that they focus so much on draft for a set that will barely be drafted instead of just printing cards people want to play in commander
