I hope that this is a slower format than the last. Grindy decks can be a lot of fun. I feel like the inclusion of battles and all these mana sinks such as transform and incubate leads me to believe it will be a slower format, and I hope I'm correct in that assessment.
I feel like Rakdos and Boros are both well equipped for a very quick aggro strategy that could hose grindier decks without sufficient removal and interaction
Battles giving an incentive to not attack face might make the format slower. Or it might make it more snowbally. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out
While I also like to relax playing mtg it won’t be good if you’re pressed on time like sealed prerelease or even at conventions. I only play draft and prerelease but 40 minutes is already pushing it. Will see how it works out this saturday.
It will be interesting balencing the tempo loss of attacking battles vs the value of flipping them, definitely something I can look forward to mastering this limited format.

Thanks or the video Gavin, these are always great and very helpful! I appreciated the joke on Blue/Green ramp, but that prompted me a question. For the last six standard sets (from Kamigawa onwards), Black/Red has been about sacrifice. There have been twists (usually sacrificing artifacts as well as creatures, or ONE with its oil), but six sets in a row Black/Red has fundamentally done the same thing. SNC Black/Red was about sacrifice too, though that sat between two three-colour crime family identities. I'm interested to hear if that sort of thing (i.e: limited archetypes repeating) is kept track of. Is there any concern about Black/Red having a diverse identity in the future?
Honestly, while I am somewhat excited for a handful of the legends in this set, for the most part it is hard being excited with this set when ixalan and eldraine (two of my 6 favorite worlds along with alara, lorwyn, new capenna, and tarkir with khans) are the next two

Look for your best rares/uncommons and try to build a 2 color deck off those. Play good removal. Try to keep a good mana value curve so you're playing spells every turn.
Tomorrow (april 8), at 10am pacific time, Loading Ready Run will have a live stream pre-prerelease on twitch (www.twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun), they are doing this for every set to get people familiar with the prerelease and the new format. You can watch and see which cards work, which don't, how new mechanics interact with each other and how they work in the first place. I definitely recommend it.

Please make a five colored giant commander I had an idea that I thought would be unique, so I think it should have an eminence where you can reveal a giant from your hand and gain 1 life can only activate once and only if you've casted a giant this turn. Then this is a separate ability where if you cast a giant you may return a giant from your graveyard to your hand and create a food token I'm thinking a 5/5 for 1 r, 1 g, 1 bl, 1 blu, 1 w, 1 gen, and I think it should have defender and can attack if you control 5 or more creatures... Maybe make it a wall as well but definitely gotta be a giant
As a member of the Pauper Rules Committee, can you do a video about why certain things count as legal and others don't? Like why do MTGO commons that have never been printed common count but commons on Arena like in Shadows Remastered do not count? Will this ever change?
Pauper was an online format, then it was applied to paper. Arena is a video game based on MtG, not a MtG simulator, that's basically why. Alchemy sets would be a mess.
Big fan of UR convoke, almost convinced myself to put Blistercoil Weird back in my cube. Couldn't justify it in the end, too few of the blue Instants/Sorceries with convoke made my list. What I'm saying is please print a new Blistercoil that does that for any noncreature spell. Or print like a 1U convoke impulse and I'll just slam like 3 copies in my cube lmao.
@GoodMorningMagic Can you do a video on the new transforming permanents? It's slightly confusing about how permanents transform now especially copies of a card like Bloodline Keeper.
Sets like Strixhaven or the Ravnica sets aren't as fun to draft over time, in my opinion. There's a reason why supporting more draft archetypes is used in design more often than supporting less draft archetypes.
Really think Blue White should have been Soldiers not Knights, we just got UW soldier support from BRO so doubling down on the thematics and reinforcing the tribe into those colors would have been better then expanding knights into another splash color.

I've got some mental hangups when it comes to body horror in the artwork, so I sat out last set and will probably sit out mom and aftermom. Looking forward to non-phyrexian sets in the future though!
This looks fun but you guys blew it with the battles. The defender gets nothing for defending it and you have to fight it because why? Plus the transformation into whatever is a missed opportunity to turn it into the plane itself (conquered or victorious) with a planechase effect that does something for everyone while also skewing it in your favor.

They curl and suck. sorry WotC. Instead put in 15 of each basic land. • An insert explaining sealed deck, as well as the two player draft formats you have a video for on your channel. • two spin downs. • Two promo cards. Bonus: • 2 set boosters as either prizes or for the players to share. • 2 storage boxes half the size of the current big storage box. It will be big enough for each person to have even a sleeved commander deck with tokens. I’d happily pay 50 dollars for a bundle like that. 🤗🤗 Make it happen please Gavin. 🙇🏻🙏🙏❤❤ (anyone else who likes this idea, add a like)

Question. Why MOM have no rare lands? This was the perfect momento to reprint any rare land from any set as we are in all the planes.
