Agreed, Terror of the Peaks and Medaillions need reprints the most. It's absurd that cards that are in insanely high demand (pretty much every creature-heavy Commander deck that's in Red wants Terror) or only improve mono-colored Commander decks are so pricey.

Oh boy, it's already up to 35 dollars ?! I bought mine a long time ago, probably for less than half of that. Hopefully some reprint will bring that price down, it's such a great card in my Tiamat deck.
Given how high the current prices for Commander Masters are, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the cards end up becoming more expensive rather than more affordable.
That's the biggest issue with masters sets. High product price plus tons of alternate arts and extended arts and foil treatments equals expensive cards still being really fucking expensive. Having a dedicated reprint slot in a normal set like Strixhaven, Brother's War, and MoM seems to actually drive down prices. So it kinda makes me wonder what the point of Commander Masters is? There's no tournament scene like Modern and nearly all commander groups are proxy friendly. Why would I spend $500 on a box of set boosters when I could just proxy exactly the cards I need or want?

And just to clarify for the unknowing people: Sheoldred went from 40 zu close to 80 (DMU release to now) and had two showcase printings in that period, one being a reprint and all showcase printings are close to the same price. If a card is in high demand, showcase printings do nothing but to add to an already ridiculously high base price. Using Sheoldred just as the most recent example, there are enough that prove my point.

You gotta protect the players from themselves. Effects that let you rearrange your library take ages to resolve and this does it -every turn -for free -starting turn 2. Imagine two player running this. That's 15 more minutes to an average best of three.
I have a bear commander deck. I wanted to put every single bear creature in it. Forest Bear is from the portal sets. It is $30 for a 2/2 Bear that does nothing except be a bear. I spent $30 on a 2/2 bear.
finale of devastation is such a great card, how many times i've used it to grab a mana dork, or maybe a reclamation sage far outnumbers the times i've used it to drop a game ending creature, its just valuable at every stage of the game...
The ones that really bother me are ones from Commander products that they won’t reprint, like the Deadly Rollick cycle. Those should return in later precons. I think the only reason they don’t is they’re afraid of producing decks with wildly uneven values because it sucks when some decks in a set have much higher demand (as in the original True Name Nemesis fiasco).

I'm hopeful for a Double-Faced reprint set (transforming, modal, etc). And a Land Masters reprint set with as many (competitive) dual lands/fetch lands at Rare.
I really want a Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed but its only p3k and judge foil. Would be nice to see after they did Imperial Seal last year I've got an ancient copper dragon in my binders, just don't like 6 drops that need to survive a turn.
I am more for a stable market instead of reprinting cards to often. Over the years you trade cards and build your decks and end up with a solid collection maybe. And then reprint over reprint happens and a lot of value is lost again. Personally i prefer a card at 50$ and trade a lot of stuff into the card and while it is in my deck, it stays at that value and i can trade it in later if i want to change it and get new cards for the same value back. By reprinting the cards, basically you destroy value. I know it sucks if you can´t have all cards and are missing a bit out, but i prefer to save some money and buy the card at higher stable prices instead of reprints having reprints that go down to zero.
A small correction: Portal and Portal Second Age were released in North America, it was only Portal Three Kingdoms that wasn't. I think the scarcity of cards like Norwood Priestess can be attributed in part to a factor you mentioned in the video, that some of them replicate or closely mirror technically different cards (Elvish Piper in this case) due to oddities in the simplified rules set of Portal, making them valuable for singleton formats like Commander (Portal Three Kingdoms is especially troublesome in this respect because its setting did not leave room for direct reprints of many cards from traditional Magic - hence Time Warp becomes Capture of Jingzhou and has a three figure price tag despite a Judge Foil reprint disqualifying it from this video) The other factor with the Portal sets is that they were not tournament legal when they were released (it would take a few years for WotC to realise that introducing people to the game using cards that they were forbidden from playing at FNM was not the best idea), so there would not have been a demand for these cards from established players at all while they were in print, and probably a large number of them were purchased by prospective players who didn't end up staying with the game and remain forgotten in some attic or shredded to unplayability by playground concrete.
I really hope cloudstone curio gets reprinted soon. Ive wanted that card for a long time but last i checked it was around 50$. In my mind that card should be around 5-10$ and will probably drop down to there when it gets a reprint
It's down to 20 which is a bit surprising since it only has been reprinted as an invention, but yeah. Edit: nvm, the place I was using just had it low for some reason. Still 50.
The W, B, and U PtL precon decks were sold at my LGS for a short time, but I'm pretty sure they weren't intended for sale there. I suppose China doesn't have the crazy export laws that Japan does, though so more would make it to the States. Portal 1 and 2 were sold at Hastings, though.
I believe this card started in a precon and was eventually reprinted in Double Masters, but I wouldn’t be opposed to see Dockside Extortionist printed once again in Commander Masters!
Mycosynth Golem has only ever been reprinted on the list and is great in artifact affinity. Currently sitting at 34.84 for the list version and 44.33 for the original
I wouldn't call Norwood priestess better than elvish piper, even in mono green. Since piper can drop a creature at any time, also in the opponent's turn. Whereas the priestess can only be activated before combat on YOUR TURN. This means opponents can remove the creature you cheated into plat at sorcery speed because it needs a whole turncycle. With piper, using it on your last opponents endstep, you can get quicker and safer value out of it.
This! Clearly, Prof is totally out on this one. And the card isn't played, nor is there any real demand for it when it comes to gameplay. There are so many better options for cards to be reprinted. My guess is he just searched scryfall for "highest price" for this one.
Something just to note with rollick detecting swat and guardianship, you just need to control a commander, doesn't have to be one of yours. So I someone has a drannith magistrate out and you can't get your commander ifut but an opponent has gotten theirs out, if you can gain control of it, you can now cast those 3 with the special text they have.
The commander forces definitely have to get reprinted. They're all pretty solid but fierce guardianship specifically is too ubiquitous to not get reprinted. They're gonna be mythics though
20:22 Funny enough I was watching this video while double sleeving my Zethi, Arcane Blademaster deck and I was sleeving my Flawless Maneuver right when Prof was asking if anybody used it lol. Giving your commander the ability to make herself and all her allies indestructible for free every time she attacks is pretty useful.
Also friendly reminder: lightning greaves, swiftfoot boots, sol ring, command tower, wayfarer’s bauble, and arcane signet will always creep up a lot the moment a few months pass without a reprint. It’s nuts. Oh and also mana crypt isn’t on the reserve list so it can be reprinted
Dong Zhou, the Tyrant is a interesting card from three kingdoms i would like see reprint as it gives red a interesting way to do damage also even though they have had a reprint before the medallion cycle would be good to get reprinted again since it they are the best mana rocks and are very helpful for mono coloured decks

They're finally printing Rick!?!? Man, I promised when he was announced that I'd be pissed at Magic until they printed a Universes Within version. I... I just don't know how to feel anymore. I've been carrying this grudge for... three years?
They went into damage control mode pretty quickly and promised an in-universe printing. However, sets are panned out years in advance so it had to take some time for him to make it into a booster.
I literally bought 2 of the Kalamax precons for Deflecting Swats back when the entire precon was $28 each on Amazon (a few years back, shortly after the precons came out). Looking back, those were some insanely good purchase decisions. I looked up the prices of the Kalamax precon now and good lord the price soared to the moon.
The reprints we desperately need are the Unobtainables, from Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited. Also called the Power 9, but the 9 aren't the only ones lacking. We especially need Black Lotus reprints.

As it would be quite funny to see Odric as Rick, the Universes Within Cards always show characters from the Plane the Set is located at (The Stranger Things Cards all came from Innistrad and the Street Fighter Ones from Dominaria) so they will somehow tie their Universes Within Cards of the Walking Dead to Eldraine (which I am quite excited about)
Watches a quote unquote "collector", never reprint any cards I invested money in them and I want my investments to make me money not take a loss. Watches someone that actually plays the game, look if we reprint these cards making them more accessable to everyone, so you know the actual players can enjoy a product much wow what a refresher
I think we all knew what was number 1 on this list. It's probably the most talked about cards that need reprints from my LGS. I have all but the green one and I don't care if the prices go down. They need to be out there. The card I want reprinted the most is Swan Song. Yeah, it doesn't cost as much as some of the ones on this list but it's so much of a staple that it should be out there more than what it is.

I almost bought the Edgar Markov EDH deck when it was affordable, my LGS recommended it to me. But I was much younger then and in the end felt it was still too expensive. With Edgar now being at least an 50 Euro card and Teferi's Protection being in that deck, I wish I had gotten it. But while Teferi's protection has been reprinted, I was really sad not to see a reprint of that Edgar Markov card in Commander Legends or as box toppers of the recent Innistrad set. Speaking of vampires, Exquisite blood is still a 20 Euro card, too. I'd love a rebrint of it.
Off topic a bit but i received my Academy boxes in the mail (finally) and they are in excellent condition with awesome presentation in those boxes. Great product professor!
Don't forget if Free Spells from Ikoria do get reprints, on top of being upshifted, they'll also have 5 Brand New Art Variants, so that price will barely move down (like they did with Dockside).
Hey Prof, For the next season of Shuffle Up and Play, you should have an EDH pod featuring Universe Beyond commanders, or maybe a Universe Beyond precon from different IPs (like a Warhammer vs. LotR vs. Dr. Who vs a future universe beyond precon)
As a new player, I 100% agree. Recently (in past 2 weeks) started to look into getting into commander after a friend at locals for Pokémon suggested it and brought along a few decks. Still shocks me about some of these cards being so expensive. Fingers crossed a lot of these make it into the set, as well as stuff like mana storm, force of will, force of negation, and stuff like mana crypt
Imagine not reprinting in demand cards cause your afraid of Secondary Market backlash, despite the fact that a Secondary Market should have no influence on Reprints. Seriously; Fuck the market. Burn it down.
I love Commander but I'm at a point where I really dislike all products that are or have not been through standard. So i really wish that these cards get even more expensive and nobody can afford having them in their decks.
I recently sold off my copies of Deflecting Swat and Fierce Guardianship and couldn't be more happy in doing so. The replacements for those cards in my Niv-Mizzet wheel deck made it feel so much more alive to me.
WotC needs to slow down their release schedule and start giving an MSRP again, these things shouldn't pre-order for 500 bucks if we had a price from them they should go for!
I know he's been reprinted once in that From the Vault set. But I'd really like Sun Quan in Commander Masters. He's a Niche but effective Blue Aggro/Infect/Voltron Commander. Giving everything Horsemanship leads to some unique brews.
I've gone back and forth on this one, but my gut is really telling me that we might see 30th Anniversary cards on the List Slot in Set Boosters. Seeing Dual Lands in packs is the only thing I can think of that would justify this price tag, and I know the Reserve List isn't going anywhere. However, WOTC/Hasbro are the type to try shipping proxies for cash.
Reprints are just something WotC havent figured out yet. I dont understand how they think, for instance, paid top dollars for my playset of Fable Passage back when it came out, only to be reprinted THE VERY NEXT SET... WTF???
I agree with that number 1 spot. I got the all will be one commander precons so I have the white one, which isn't too bad and I'm thinking of putting it in my Mondrak deck that is in the works. I think if they print part of the cycle, they should at least be willing to print the entire one, even if it isn't gonna be a frequent for some of the cycle
Wow. I didn't know the Portal set was exclusive. I remember my dad buying me the starter set. I don't think I have any of the expensive cards but I still have the playmats, booklet and maybe a deck box.
A Pitiless Plunderer reprint would be quite nice, though i think those kinds of effects are ones WotC likes to hold back with that 'triggers once a turn' restriction. It technically had a reprint, but only as a card from The List, which barely counts.
A couple cards I'd absolutely LOVE to see reprinted that certainly need it would be Grand Abolisher (Even though it did just get one in a secret lair), the Eldrazi Titans (Most notably the newer ones, especially Ulamog, the Ceasless Hunger), and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
I remember getting an archfiend of despair and I though it sucks that I always ripped it in anger. Than commander got really popular.. shows you gotta be calm and composed.

If I'm not wrong, and I'm pretty sure I'm correct, then Archfiend + Reflection is more life loss. Swing for 6, wound reflection triggers and deals 12. Archfiend triggers and sees 18 life lost and adds another 18. So it's 36 life lost. Not 24
Speaking of Apex Altisaur, that card has only ever been printed in ONE precon in 2020, and has never seen print in any other product before or since. It’s maybe my favorite green creature, and I’d love for it to see a reprint.
Pitiless plunderer needs a reprint as well, will 12$ for non-foil and 32$ for foil. Would also love the merfolk Ponder to get a reprint given its my favorite and the foil version is lime 300$
I am severely underwhelmed by another reprint set that is going to lower the cost of amazing cards from “hilariously bad” all the way down to “still not worth it” and pay $20 a pack for bulk rares and precon bulk.

It's lowkey demonic that Dockside has been reprinted, but wotc hiked It's rarity to mythic despite it being a rare in the precon it came out in

I've got an ancient copper dragon in my binders, just don't like 6 drops that need to survive a turn.
I am more for a stable market instead of reprinting cards to often. Over the years you trade cards and build your decks and end up with a solid collection maybe. And then reprint over reprint happens and a lot of value is lost again. Personally i prefer a card at 50$ and trade a lot of stuff into the card and while it is in my deck, it stays at that value and i can trade it in later if i want to change it and get new cards for the same value back. By reprinting the cards, basically you destroy value. I know it sucks if you can´t have all cards and are missing a bit out, but i prefer to save some money and buy the card at higher stable prices instead of reprints having reprints that go down to zero.
A small correction: Portal and Portal Second Age were released in North America, it was only Portal Three Kingdoms that wasn't. I think the scarcity of cards like Norwood Priestess can be attributed in part to a factor you mentioned in the video, that some of them replicate or closely mirror technically different cards (Elvish Piper in this case) due to oddities in the simplified rules set of Portal, making them valuable for singleton formats like Commander (Portal Three Kingdoms is especially troublesome in this respect because its setting did not leave room for direct reprints of many cards from traditional Magic - hence Time Warp becomes Capture of Jingzhou and has a three figure price tag despite a Judge Foil reprint disqualifying it from this video)
The other factor with the Portal sets is that they were not tournament legal when they were released (it would take a few years for WotC to realise that introducing people to the game using cards that they were forbidden from playing at FNM was not the best idea), so there would not have been a demand for these cards from established players at all while they were in print, and probably a large number of them were purchased by prospective players who didn't end up staying with the game and remain forgotten in some attic or shredded to unplayability by playground concrete.
Shoutout to Bruvac, key card in mill decks printed once in Jumpstart with a minor List appearance and that's it.
I really hope cloudstone curio gets reprinted soon. Ive wanted that card for a long time but last i checked it was around 50$. In my mind that card should be around 5-10$ and will probably drop down to there when it gets a reprint
It's down to 20 which is a bit surprising since it only has been reprinted as an invention, but yeah.

I purchased packs of all three portal sets from my LGS back in the 90's. Even opened an Imperial Seal and sold it for $800 ten years ago.
The W, B, and U PtL precon decks were sold at my LGS for a short time, but I'm pretty sure they weren't intended for sale there. I suppose China doesn't have the crazy export laws that Japan does, though so more would make it to the States.
Portal 1 and 2 were sold at Hastings, though.
I believe this card started in a precon and was eventually reprinted in Double Masters, but I wouldn’t be opposed to see Dockside Extortionist printed once again in Commander Masters!
But it's a chase rare and reprint = less wizards/hasbro profit!!!
Mycosynth Golem has only ever been reprinted on the list and is great in artifact affinity. Currently sitting at 34.84 for the list version and 44.33 for the original

I wouldn't call Norwood priestess better than elvish piper, even in mono green. Since piper can drop a creature at any time, also in the opponent's turn. Whereas the priestess can only be activated before combat on YOUR TURN. This means opponents can remove the creature you cheated into plat at sorcery speed because it needs a whole turncycle. With piper, using it on your last opponents endstep, you can get quicker and safer value out of it.
This! Clearly, Prof is totally out on this one. And the card isn't played, nor is there any real demand for it when it comes to gameplay. There are so many better options for cards to be reprinted. My guess is he just searched scryfall for "highest price" for this one.

Something just to note with rollick detecting swat and guardianship, you just need to control a commander, doesn't have to be one of yours. So I someone has a drannith magistrate out and you can't get your commander ifut but an opponent has gotten theirs out, if you can gain control of it, you can now cast those 3 with the special text they have.
The commander forces definitely have to get reprinted. They're all pretty solid but fierce guardianship specifically is too ubiquitous to not get reprinted. They're gonna be mythics though
20:22 Funny enough I was watching this video while double sleeving my Zethi, Arcane Blademaster deck and I was sleeving my Flawless Maneuver right when Prof was asking if anybody used it lol. Giving your commander the ability to make herself and all her allies indestructible for free every time she attacks is pretty useful.
I really want to see an Emrakul Promised End reprint, it needs it, especially with the upcoming Eldrazi deck

Also friendly reminder: lightning greaves, swiftfoot boots, sol ring, command tower, wayfarer’s bauble, and arcane signet will always creep up a lot the moment a few months pass without a reprint. It’s nuts.

Dong Zhou, the Tyrant is a interesting card from three kingdoms i would like see reprint as it gives red a interesting way to do damage
also even though they have had a reprint before the medallion cycle would be good to get reprinted again since it they are the best mana rocks and are very helpful for mono coloured decks
I remember a few years ago when I thought cards like food chain and concordemt crossroads were on the reserved list because I thought they couldn't possibly be this expensive without the reserved list
They're finally printing Rick!?!? Man, I promised when he was announced that I'd be pissed at Magic until they printed a Universes Within version. I... I just don't know how to feel anymore. I've been carrying this grudge for... three years?
They went into damage control mode pretty quickly and promised an in-universe printing.
However, sets are panned out years in advance so it had to take some time for him to make it into a booster.
Don't worry, there's still plenty to hang that grudge on.

I literally bought 2 of the Kalamax precons for Deflecting Swats back when the entire precon was $28 each on Amazon (a few years back, shortly after the precons came out). Looking back, those were some insanely good purchase decisions. I looked up the prices of the Kalamax precon now and good lord the price soared to the moon.

The reprints we desperately need are the Unobtainables, from Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited. Also called the Power 9, but the 9 aren't the only ones lacking. We especially need Black Lotus reprints.

@@lexruptor which makes it even worse, the power 9 is not only banned in commander it is banned literally everywhere. having 1 copy of the mox of whatever colour you play is bad for the game imagine having 4. it could literally ruin formats

As it would be quite funny to see Odric as Rick, the Universes Within Cards always show characters from the Plane the Set is located at (The Stranger Things Cards all came from Innistrad and the Street Fighter Ones from Dominaria) so they will somehow tie their Universes Within Cards of the Walking Dead to Eldraine (which I am quite excited about)

Watches a quote unquote "collector", never reprint any cards I invested money in them and I want my investments to make me money not take a loss. Watches someone that actually plays the game, look if we reprint these cards making them more accessable to everyone, so you know the actual players can enjoy a product much wow what a refresher
I think we all knew what was number 1 on this list. It's probably the most talked about cards that need reprints from my LGS. I have all but the green one and I don't care if the prices go down. They need to be out there. The card I want reprinted the most is Swan Song. Yeah, it doesn't cost as much as some of the ones on this list but it's so much of a staple that it should be out there more than what it is.

I almost bought the Edgar Markov EDH deck when it was affordable, my LGS recommended it to me. But I was much younger then and in the end felt it was still too expensive. With Edgar now being at least an 50 Euro card and Teferi's Protection being in that deck, I wish I had gotten it. But while Teferi's protection has been reprinted, I was really sad not to see a reprint of that Edgar Markov card in Commander Legends or as box toppers of the recent Innistrad set. Speaking of vampires, Exquisite blood is still a 20 Euro card, too. I'd love a rebrint of it.

As a new player, I 100% agree. Recently (in past 2 weeks) started to look into getting into commander after a friend at locals for Pokémon suggested it and brought along a few decks. Still shocks me about some of these cards being so expensive. Fingers crossed a lot of these make it into the set, as well as stuff like mana storm, force of will, force of negation, and stuff like mana crypt
If every reprint in this set could be 20$+(before reprint) it would be the apology wizards owes genuinely. Especially the 100$+ ones

I love Commander but I'm at a point where I really dislike all products that are or have not been through standard. So i really wish that these cards get even more expensive and nobody can afford having them in their decks.
I recently sold off my copies of Deflecting Swat and Fierce Guardianship and couldn't be more happy in doing so. The replacements for those cards in my Niv-Mizzet wheel deck made it feel so much more alive to me.

WotC needs to slow down their release schedule and start giving an MSRP again, these things shouldn't pre-order for 500 bucks if we had a price from them they should go for!
I know he's been reprinted once in that From the Vault set. But I'd really like Sun Quan in Commander Masters. He's a Niche but effective Blue Aggro/Infect/Voltron Commander. Giving everything Horsemanship leads to some unique brews.
I've gone back and forth on this one, but my gut is really telling me that we might see 30th Anniversary cards on the List Slot in Set Boosters. Seeing Dual Lands in packs is the only thing I can think of that would justify this price tag, and I know the Reserve List isn't going anywhere. However, WOTC/Hasbro are the type to try shipping proxies for cash.
Reprints are just something WotC havent figured out yet. I dont understand how they think, for instance, paid top dollars for my playset of Fable Passage back when it came out, only to be reprinted THE VERY NEXT SET... WTF???
Not excited about overpriced core sets, will pick up some of the cheap cards and keep proxying the rest. Nothing changes when boxes cost 500$.

I agree with that number 1 spot. I got the all will be one commander precons so I have the white one, which isn't too bad and I'm thinking of putting it in my Mondrak deck that is in the works. I think if they print part of the cycle, they should at least be willing to print the entire one, even if it isn't gonna be a frequent for some of the cycle
Wow. I didn't know the Portal set was exclusive. I remember my dad buying me the starter set. I don't think I have any of the expensive cards but I still have the playmats, booklet and maybe a deck box.
A Pitiless Plunderer reprint would be quite nice, though i think those kinds of effects are ones WotC likes to hold back with that 'triggers once a turn' restriction. It technically had a reprint, but only as a card from The List, which barely counts.

A couple cards I'd absolutely LOVE to see reprinted that certainly need it would be Grand Abolisher (Even though it did just get one in a secret lair), the Eldrazi Titans (Most notably the newer ones, especially Ulamog, the Ceasless Hunger), and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx

Prof, Dominaria Remastered by itself introduced SIX unique prints of FoW to the market.
If I'm not wrong, and I'm pretty sure I'm correct, then Archfiend + Reflection is more life loss. Swing for 6, wound reflection triggers and deals 12. Archfiend triggers and sees 18 life lost and adds another 18. So it's 36 life lost. Not 24
For the low low cost of 2 mana 13:36 yeah and tapping down your whole board
Speaking of Apex Altisaur, that card has only ever been printed in ONE precon in 2020, and has never seen print in any other product before or since. It’s maybe my favorite green creature, and I’d love for it to see a reprint.
I'd personally love to see a reprint of Cover of Darkness from Onslaught. Fantastic evasion enabler for any black tribal strategy.
Pitiless plunderer needs a reprint as well, will 12$ for non-foil and 32$ for foil.
Would also love the merfolk Ponder to get a reprint given its my favorite and the foil version is lime 300$
I am severely underwhelmed by another reprint set that is going to lower the cost of amazing cards from “hilariously bad” all the way down to “still not worth it” and pay $20 a pack for bulk rares and precon bulk.
The medallions would be great, feels like a nice way to make mono colored decks better but rn they are just too expensive
