Have you decluttered anything from your wardrobe this week, anything new coming in? I'm excited for party season - a chance to wear all my sparkly items! 👋🏼😍🎄 Did you see my Mega Declutter video, 90 minutes long? Here's the link! th-cam.com/video/fZdfXekjKAA/w-d-xo.html And if you want to explore more about Dressing Your Truth, there is a free course! dressingyourtruth.com
I took a peek into my closet for holiday wear, and it looks like I have a few dresses I haven't worn yet. I plan to wear them this week and see if they will stay or go.
You’ve inspired me to do a clean out of my wardrobe this week. Only found a few items but still feels fresh. Also joining you as I make school lunches and get ready for work ❤ have a great day 😊
You have inspired me to arrange my wardrobe differently, I had put trousers together, tops together, etc.. but I've actually paired them up as outfits, I've put them in Summer/Autumn/Winter/Spring groups, now I just go to one section and get an outfit.... I'm not overwearing one top or one pants, and ignoring others all the time, and I'm sticking to, wear it, if I don't feel confident, comfortable, etc, I put it in my donations pile (which is growing)... but it really saves time too, the outfit is there, not shuffling through to find what goes with what, and if a few things go together, I group them together too, so I can mix them up occasionally ❤❤ really enjoying your tips ❤❤
Dear Diane, what a generous heart of gold you have letting those nice cashmere shawls go to your friends! They're obviously precious for you because of all those memories about your dearest Mom. This is definitely something we all need to learn from you: sharing kindly with joy in our hearts. Thank you for a great video! ❤
I'd got stuck for hours this morning trying to work out how to fix problems that I can't fix, feeling like I should be cleaning or working through my to do list. Then I decided to watch your video and have a spot of lunch and now I'm motivated to get back on track. Thanks again Diane 💕
Hey there. Hang in there. It’s ok to have an off-day, an off-week or even an off-year. Give yourself a brak, and a pat on the back whenever you do get something done. Congrats on getting started!
"Decluttering towards a new life" _THIS DIANE!!! what a wonderful, positive way of looking at life changes that could easily be sad but instead you are looking forward in an excited way. Thank you for being an example to me in this! And yes, as others have said, in the States when you think of an apartment it is usually rented, not purchased.
People probably ask if you're renting an apartment because, at least here in the U.S., a person usually rents their apartment. You're showing me that I don't have to save good clothes for "special" occasions. I'm always impressed at how you always look so nice. I'm having a hard time with size right now. I've been slowly and correctly trying to take off some extra weight and so it's a long process. I'm always on the hunt for things I feel good in.
It might be people from the States asking about renting. Over here an apartment is a type of rental. There are places you can buy one but they’re usually called a condo. Plus a lot of real estate definitions overlap depending on the region. Anyway, thanks for keeping me company while I get laundry done.
Exactly what I came here to write. In my area of the U.S. an "apartment" is what you rent, but an apartment you buy is a "condominium", or "condo". That might be why people are asking you if you're going to be renting.
Didn't know that, thanks for the explanation. I think that the rest of the English speaking countries just refer to both situations as a flat or apartment regardless of whether you own it or rent it 😊
Part of it is that "condominium" is a legal entity in the U.S. (maybe elsewhere too, I don't know), much like a corporation, with state requirements the owners must follow regarding having a board of directors, financial reporting, articles of incorporation, bylaws, declaration, and so on.
Such an encouragement and helpful reminder that decluttering doesnt just help the person doing it but can bring joy to lots of other people by giving thoughtfully away! ☺️
My father in law just passed away this week and soon we will be tasked with cleaning out his house of over 40 years. It will be so helpful to get tips from you as you too have recently suffered your own loss. Your videos are always an inspiration and a motivation
I'm sorry for your family's loss 😢.My mother in law passed away in mid August, we live on another continent, but my husband went back home for the memorial service. Her apartment was full of stuff that she had accumulated over decades. Most of it was given away, all of her craft supplies went to other people she used to craft with, but apparently her space is still not cleared out 😮 my father in law is freaking out as he wants to rent out the apartment but can't because it is still full of stuff 😮. We all need to re-evaluate our possessions on a regular basis so that when we are gone it's not a huge burden for our loved ones 😢
Dear Diane, So grateful I found you! Your the sparkle I’ve been needing in my day! FYI, as a Minnesotan, I assure you the pronunciation of ‘Duluth’ was spot-on. 👍🏻 I love that not only do you declutter items that no longer work for you but are still very nice to friends. This makes it a double-joy, because 1) it’s out of your house 2) it goes to someone that now has a physical memory of you any time they use it. Perfection! Love your videos. ❤️🌹
It’s always a brighter day when you post a video! Love seeing how you continue to declutter and bless your friends with the items you don’t keep. You are a great motivator!
Dear Diane, I love your wardrobe videos and I am so happy, that you found the sparkling trousers. Have a great time wearing them at the next party. You will shine :)
I love this for you! I did a giant purge in 2020. Many bags out. And 15 pairs of shoes at least gone. Each season I’m more ruthless. And in reality my size changed and things wear out. My wardrobe has room and it’s so nice! I also never feel bad when I truly need a specific item when in the past I would have felt I couldn’t get what I needed due to the clutter.
Those sparkly pants are so fun! Can't wait to see you style them! I'm still working on decluttering my clothes and curating my wardrobe for fall/winter. I really like the shoe storage box and found and am going to look for one. Thanks, as always, for your inspiration.
I'm so happy that you were able to give Helene the scarf you received from Princess Anne's visit. I noticed how much I am enjoying the empty space in my closet; it seems to make it easier for me to wear more of my clothes.
I recently found your channel and I really enjoy it. My husband and I are in the same stage of life as you and yours...grown children, decluttering, etc. I really enjoy inspirational channels for that. What caught my attention was the name of your channel. My husband and I were married in Denmark 38 years ago (we were both US soldiers stationed in then-West Germany at the time). Keep up the good work with the videos.
We in the U.S. tend to refer to apartments as rentals and condominiums "condos" as purchased apartments. Maybe that's why you get those questions. Of course one can rent a condo as well...There are other overlaps too. I used to be confused by the Aussie term "villas" for condos. To us a villa is a big home it Italy or some such thing, LOL.
Oh I like the shoe box from Germany as it's compact as well a closed container - so no dust! In some countries the word 'apartments' refers to rentals only. When buying an apartment it is referred to as a Condo (condominium) which also has monthly condo fees that will manage the buildings common properties for all owners (upkeep of interior and exterior common shared areas) Maybe that is why people think you will be renting an 'apartment'. Diane your videos on the declutter questions are great and so helpful - hope everyone goes to watch either the 1st time or 2nd & 3rd😉
How wonderful to see so many of your de-cluttered items find new homes with your friends. Your term "fantasy life" really hits home for me. I find myself acquiring too many things that I may use once or twice out of a desire to emulate a look from a magazine. I should be passing them along to others who will use them and, more importantly, not buy more to replace them! Thanks, as always, for the inspiration Diane!
I'm moving this week so all decluttering is on hold until my brain bandwidth returns. The plan is to evaluate as I unpack. Between you, Dawn the minimal mom and Cas, my closet was much more sparse to pack than it was 18 months ago. 😊🎉
Diane you have been such an inspiration to me especially this week as I prepare to have a new kitchen dinner and a utility room. This has involved me emptying my home office where my husband used to run his business from. The kitchen and part of the garage. Twelve bags of books to the second hand gift shop and six bags of coffee sets cake plates a blender and a bread maker etc some of these items had been with me for years and never used or unwanted gifts that I felt I should keep. I probably have still some things I should part with but a major step forward for me so thanks ❤
Yay for finding sparkly pants. I have never owned anything sparkly, but they sure look fun!!! It was nice to see who came away with what you were decluttering. The scarves are BEAUTIFUL!!!!
How generous of you to think of your friends for all the items you are decluttering. I love the scarf you kept, it is so pretty. I don't have much in the way of clothing to declutter, however, with a little encouragement my dh was able to declutter some shorts and t-shirts he no longer wore. I did declutter some dishes also a large Corning Ware dish that was scratched and 6 cookbooks along with quite a few recipes that were in a binder. That is a work in progress and will take some time.
How lovely that your besties can share in the wonderful memories you have of your mom. I have a treasured hydrangea bush from my Bestie's dearly departed mom and it brings me such joy.
Pulling out my fall/ winter clothing and finding it’s a good time to declutter or mend my summer clothing before packing those away. Thanks for the motivation!
Hi, Diane, it’s Christmas 🎄💝in October in Diane’s house: a lot of nice things going to friends and sparkly trousers for the Christmas season found you. Yes, Amazon is usually the 'place', where we find things online in Germany, it’s so easy… and always remembers me of my childhood: in a little village we had first one, then two grocery shops, and cars were rare. So everybody ordered from catalogues like Quelle, Neckermann… all children had the same clothes and toys, they even delivered freezers, washing machines… Thank you for sharing! Crossed fingers that you find a nice apartment, you seem so ready for it. Love, Monika❣
Yesterday I put a sweater in the donation box that I've worn for years, but somehow no longer suits me. Today, the same with a pair of earrings. It's interesting why all of a sudden something doesn't work anymore...I guess incremental changes, reaching a tipping point (?). I remember you in the sparkly skirt for New Year's Eve, so fun to see! Thanks for the video, Diane 💙
Yes, I got several new pants, jeans, and tops, so decluttered older items to make room for the new and more up to date!🎉Thinking about Christmas and starting on gift purchases and planning! Last year at this time I was finishing my shopping, so I'm a little behind. 😊❤Thank you for your care and support!
I am planning to move to a smaller property when something suitable becomes available. I am decluttering every room. Looking forward to getting rid of some of the furniture.
I decluttered after last winter and now I don’t have enough cool weather wear between washes 😮 Time to buy a few more quality, earth friendly items that will last. 🎉
Hi Diane, I am still decluttering my wardrobe. I am on the lookout for some new everyday dresses and leggings. It is awesome you could let go to some sentimental things to your friends. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
So proud of you and all the work you are doing to move towards a new life! I was watching an older video of yours recently whereyou were wearing the white and red heart print top and you looked so good I felt sad for you that you had culled it in the 90min clearout. When you said inthis video how it was going on to your friend it made ‘getting rid’ feel more positive to me somehow. I don’t have any friends my size as I am plus size and always feel a pang of regret or sadness when I donate things. Something I need to work on I think… the money has already been wasted if I have bought something and am not wearing it.
Diane, you've inspired me to let go of the clothes that are just okay for me. It feels freeing to only have things I love and wear in my closet! Thank you!
I lost my mother in July this year Diana, it seems to be hitting me more now, lots of tears and it sounds like you may be in a similar way, i do love these vlogs as well, lots of organising and sorting, much needed, I’m trying to sort through sentimental things i kept of mam, and it’s hard 🥲 xx
Love this! I found two scarves that I never wear (one still had its tag!) - not quite my colours. Gave them to two friends who were rapt. Thanks again for all of the ideas and inspiration 🌟
Love your videos! People ask if you are going to rent or buy your apartment because is the US apartments are generally available for rent whereas condos and townhomes are purchased.
Surely when you’ve decluttered down to your non-negotiable items, you’ll also have an accurate idea of just which features you’ll need in your lovely new apartment overlooking the canal!
Hi Diane! I was wondering if you could show us how you paint your leather in a video? I was inspired to look up Dressing Your Truth because of you and it turns out I am also a Type 1 and find myself with a whole bunch of black items…😅❤
Hi Diane. Thank you for your company again. I’m wondering with your new apartment how are you thinking of fitting everything in, how many rooms are you thinking, will you have guest bedrooms in case your children want to visit in the future? Will you have an office? etc? I have six bedrooms, five bathrooms plus an office, at the moment and wonder how much we should downsize for our retirement? Also, I just love housing and realestate and learning how other people live in other countries..
Oh, and the opposite is not true. You can rent a condo or townhouse, but in that case you are renting from an actual owner, not a property management company which will rent it again in perpetuity if you move on.

1:21 I let go of 3 tops, added a great denim coat

I love that my friends enjoy my things...and I receive plenty in return! 👋🏼😍
Thanks for the encouragement! Always helps to see how happy other people are when they receive our decluttering items!🎉🎉
Love the photos of your friends in the clothes you no longer needed!

Oh that scarf really suits Vibeke!!!! ❤
It does - I wasn't sure she would want it, but she wore it on the way home! LOL! Matches her gloves too!
Think I'm the same colour type as Vibeke-loved the scarf!

Vibeke looks great in that scarf!
I love the feeling of things I'm no longer using finding a new happy home. ❤️

I so agree with you to share your unwanted things to people who will enjoy it. You continue to inspire me . Good luck with your endeavours
Yay, glad you agree!
Good job
I took a box of things to the thrift shop the other day. I also have a bag of toys for my friend. Her grand sons will love them
Such thoughtful decluttering and philosophy 🎯🎯🎯❤❤
Dear Diane, I love your wardrobe videos and I am so happy, that you found the sparkling trousers. Have a great time wearing them at the next party. You will shine :)
What a generous soul you are. Love these inspiring videos 💕
🎉🎉🎉 LOVED this! I am going to decide what my 3 words are that best describes my "style". 🎉🎉🎉
Rah rah rah! I’m switching out my closet to winter clothes as I listen in the midwestern US. Cheers!

I love your new sparkly blue pants and the fact that others get to enjoy your nice things! Have a great day, Diane ❤
I always love watching your videos
Caught up with this video a day late, but it made my day!
You have such a wonderful sense of style & your smile & cheerful attitude are so inspiring!❤️🍁🎃

💯 It's so great to pass things on to people who will enjoy them!

Gosh, it's confusing, isn't it, Denise?! Thanks for the clarification! In British English we say an apartment or rented apartment. Nice and simple!
Yes, British English is renowned for its simplicity! 🇺🇲
I have the exact same shoe storage. I love it!❤

What a beautiful thing to see how happy your friends are with all their new things! I love that the most about decluttering with intention.
It get so much more done with your voice in the background cheering me on. Thank you. 💗
I’m so sorry about your mom. You are such a joy to everyone! Sending hugs from Ohio ❤
Dear Dianne, how lovely that you can pass those lovely things on to friends x
Lovely as always!
❤from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you, Diane! ❤❤❤ Isn’t it wonderful to see someone else enjoying your treasures, once you pass them on!
Yes, one of my greatest joys!
Those sparkle pants are awesome!! 💖
Gosh those scarves look perfect on Helene and Vibeke! It's nice that your besties now have items that meant something to you and yours. Hugs to you.
It looks so pretty and soft on V❤❤❤❤
I'm moving this week so all decluttering is on hold until my brain bandwidth returns. The plan is to evaluate as I unpack. Between you, Dawn the minimal mom and Cas, my closet was much more sparse to pack than it was 18 months ago. 😊🎉
Woo hoo, go you - hoping all goes well with your move!
Great video Diane x
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m off to do another pass through my closet. 🤗
So glad I saw this today. I was really needing this inspiration today. Now to get up and get started on my dresser drawers. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Good job Diane! What a motivation you are!
Yes! Lots going out…. Very little coming in 🎉🎉🎉
Diane you have been such an inspiration to me especially this week as I prepare to have a new kitchen dinner and a utility room. This has involved me emptying my home office where my husband used to run his business from. The kitchen and part of the garage. You made me smile with the sparkly pants!
Ha ha, thank you - can't wait to take my sparkly pants for a spin soon!
❤ thanks for the inspiration
Pulling out my fall/ winter clothing and finding it’s a good time to declutter or mend my summer clothing before packing those away. Thanks for the motivation!
Perfect timing, yay!
All your friends look so lovely in the clothing you passed along to them. I love sharing my no longer needed clothing with others too.
It's interesting why all of a sudden something doesn't work anymore...I guess incremental changes, reaching a tipping point (?). I remember you in the sparkly skirt for New Year's Eve, so fun to see! Thanks for the video, Diane 💙
I'm at the point in my decluttering journey where I need to bring pieces into my wardrobe before letting too much more go.
Yay! Shout out to Duluth, Minnesota! They have wonderful woolen mills. It's the city where my parents first met all those years ago in the early 70's.
I’m looking forward to see your painted trousers 🎉😊
Vibeke’s smile with the new scarf made me smile. It’s so nice to see/ make someone happy
Yes, I got several new pants, jeans, and tops, so decluttered older items to make room for the new and more up to date!🎉Thinking about Christmas and starting on gift purchases and planning! I am planning to move to a smaller property when something suitable becomes available. I am decluttering every room. Looking forward to getting rid of some of the furniture.
I’m so impressed with your dedication to decluttering and sending items along to others! Very inspiring!!!❤
Hi Diane….I’m working on my closet this week and it’s going very well.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Diane 🎉
I have a few tops that are now on probation for fall and winter. Thanks, Diane
Fabulous video Diane. Thank you.
I decluttered after last winter and now I don’t have enough cool weather wear between washes 😮 Time to buy a few more quality, earth friendly items that will last. 🎉

Love this! I found two scarves that I never wear (one still had its tag!) - not quite my colours. Gave them to two friends who were rapt. Thanks again for all of the ideas and inspiration 🌟
You are so inspiring!🎉
I decluttered books and some Halloween costumes that no longer fit my daughter. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Rah, rah, rah to you, Edel!
Lovely video with a great message!😊
What beautiful scarves!
Thank you🎉
Yes Diane, you pronounced Duluth just like a native Minnesotan! I live 2.5 hours south of Duluth in Minneapolis.
Yes, it's all coming together nicely!
Thank you Diane. And thank you to all the kind commenters who have clarified what a condominium is - I've always wondered 😂
As we say here in Auld Reekie, yer shoes 'll no eat a piece jist sittin' in the box. 🙋💖

Hey Diane! In the US an apartment is always a rental. If you own it, it's a condo or a townhouse. Hope that helps :)
Oh, and the opposite is not true. You can rent a condo or townhouse, but in that case you are renting from an actual owner, not a property management company which will rent it again in perpetuity if you move on.
💛
I always think that nobody wants what I don’t like anymore, but maybe I should just try?
