I absolutely love ur home. It truly is my inspiration. I love ur style! Iam a super fan! I'm so thankful u have started ur channel. It is so rewarding for me to watch/listen to u. I appreciate another Christian, homeschooling mother to relate to. Ur advice has helped me and my family so much!❤
Thank you for sharing your home. I took a big deep breath when you were giving the tour. I felt relaxed. What an amazing gift you are giving your family and yourself!
It is SO refreshing to see an online influencer who lives normally. I am SO tired of seeing these million dollar homes bought by influencers.I mean, who really needs a 3,000 plus square foot home?! It's totally unrelatable and quite tone deaf... especially in this economy. I'm glad to see you content with what you have and working to make it your own. Been following you for years and decluttering along the way. It has been a huge help for me and helping other family members. :)
Different people have different desires. Maybe 3000 sq ft is needful for a large family or family gatherings. Don’t limit others with your choke point.
Follow the less known, smart TH-camrs. They all have normal, regular sized houses and their own personal style and values are different from all those mainstream, famous ones.
@@singerjo5791 I'm not limiting anyone's choices. Just maybe bringing attention to need vs want. If someone chooses to work towards more material goals, that's their decision to do so. I just find it off putting and unrealistic for most of us.
I agree. I also wanted to bring up the word weird. In our family, that is a high compliment. It usually means someone who is willing to re-examine the status quo. Come to their own sensible and unique conclusions. And to live a meaningful life, with honesty about who they are. ❤
The people who find this layout “weird” are the ones who furnish a home as if they were expecting two dozen guests once a week for a party that in the end, happens elsewhere if ever at all.
I love how you use color to make your house homey and cozy instead of a lot of stuff. If everything was totally neutral, I don't think it would look nearly as welcoming
Totally agreed. It’s beautiful & clutter free house & still gives me inspiration. But size & space is rather big compared to houses in UK & EU countries.
As a German I think it's not big for 6 people. We live in a slightly smaller apartment as a family of 8, but normal people with 4 kids would have at least a house this size. Ok, normal people in Germany don't have 4 kids...
Having hoarder tendencies, I can remember going to a friends home yrs ago, not knowing or understanding what minimalist was, my anxiety went through the roof because i’m thinking ‘Where is all their stuff, it looks like I’m sitting in a motel’ NOW with learning it’s ok to let go and having less is best, my home is having less and less each week and I’m loving it. In all honesty I never believed I would be ok to get rid of things and really look at what I’m bringing into my home. I will always struggle with hoarding tendencies but I’m in my 60’s and you truely can teach an old dog new tricks.
Before Dawn the other TH-cam minimalists, I noticed that the condo we stayed in for vacation felt calm. I also realized it was because I wasn’t managing so much stuff! But I had no idea how to make it work in my home. It’s still a work in progress.
@@ritadyer9295 yep me too, I’m also a work in progress. Like today I got rid of 3 DVDS, that I’ve owns for yrs and still haven’t watched, an old pair of shoes that I’m not going to wear again. It is a slow process but I’m truly enjoying owning less.
I found you after a devastating miscarriage. I sat in recovery and decided that I wanted to focus on my son and I couldn’t do it in a way that wasn’t always focused on picking up and putting away. I used the phrase, keep only what you know to be useful or beautiful. We were a military family at the time and in a year I had purged 1/2 of our HhGs (house hold goods) and during our move we had gone from 4,000lbs to just over 2,000lbs even though we had had a child between the moves! It was really cool to see the actual numbers and being able to quantify all my hard work!
Having done over 24 years of military moves, I can say that only 2000 lbs of stuff is amazing! We routinely filled an entire semi truck and still had vehicles to move. We have slowly but surely been minimizing in “retirement.”
Oh Dawn, your house looks clean, neat, well organized. I would like to share my recent experience. We (family of 6) selling our 700 sq. feet apartament in Europe. Lady came and told me: everything is so clean, so... She couldn't find words to described it... I said - Im minimalist, we don't have clutter. She said, it doesnt look like 6 people live here. That was my biggest achievement of my life! Don't get me wrong, I have many others, but after growing up in horder home, this is one Im proudest of. All thanks to you Dawn. Love you!
You know I think it's funny that you said you felt like a failure because you couldn't get it all together. Now with your channel you have helped so many moms get it together and keep it together. Dawn you are such a blessing ❤
Every single time I get overwhelmed with my house I turn to your channel for a refresher of the peace I can have if I keep letting go. Thank you for what you do!
I remember, when my oldest had a friend over. We served homebaked buns. Her family was Rich. We were not. She Said with envy: my mother never bakes. She found it so cozy to be in our home. Her parents were always working. Socializing is much more worth as stuff! ❤❤❤ you have a beautiful home. It does not feel weird. What a question!
It became real for me when traveling and I realized we "need" very little to survive! I realized I was at peace when in a hotel and stressed at home.. so I started cleaning out. We're in the process of renovating our home because of mold so we have filled TWO 20 yard dumpsters and getting ready to get another dumpster! The upstairs will be finished tomorrow... we have boxed up everything on both floors and before it comes back in, we are going thru it one more time to declutter.... again! It truly is freeing and the simpler the better!
@@lauramurphy5104 I'm Italian, so I'm used to small houses, but I moved to the US and right now, where I live, cost of living is so high that a house like that with that land would cost well above 1 million $$, and it's not small. It's very much normal, just not huge
I would say you have no idea how much you are changing peoples lives but you already know because it changed yours. Thank you for sharing the tools for so many to unbury themselves from the clutter and wordly expectations. You are appreciated more than you know. xoxoxo
Dawn, you just made feel normal! THIS is a real tour of a real home. IT felt like I was walking into your space along side you. You have a beautiful well organized home. Many continued blessings for all that you do and how you inspire us.
I’ve been following you now for 4 years and your videos inspire me to live more simply!! You had your aha moment through Joshua Becker….. my aha moment was when you told me …. “You have too much inventory!!” This will always resonate with me. Thank you Dawn & family!
Ditto! ❤ I have been following Dawn for 4 years also (after becoming a guardian for 2 kids with PTSD) and it was also the maintaining inventory concept that really hit it home for me! This particular video really is a great summary of all the reasons I follow and love Dawn. I just shared it with the kids therapist so we can work together to help the kids have a healthy, less stimulating environment without triggering their trauma. 🙏🥰
Definitely one of the key words for me, too. Inventory. It's like managing a warehouse and nothing is catalogued but what you have to store in your (exhausted) brain.
I was stuck in the hospital on a post partum IV drip for 60 hours. Away from my family and babies. I spent most of the time watching you, and when I met up with a new therapist I told her I want to work on the ability to let go of things. Mostly that I’m moving into a new chapter of my life and I need to come to terms with getting rid of my clothes that are 20 years old.
I just got rid of a dress I had for 25 years or more. How is it form emotional attachments to clothing? Even the gown I have on right now is probably 25 years old.
I am one of those annoying “neat” people but because of you, I removed the rug out of my kitchen and it is so much less work and easier to clean the floor now. Thank you, Dawn.
Me too! Runner from back door to island: Gone. 3x5 cotton rug in front of sink: Gone. One small anti fatigue mat in front of stove that just gets mopped over... I dust mop and wet mop so quickly and easily, and way more often!!! No rug lifting/ moving / laundering! I do have a bath mat under the sink I can throw down at the kitchen door when it rains. Easy
It’s absolutely beautiful!! It looks like an air bnb. You are aspirational for me. As I go through moving out of a nearly 9k square foot house to (I know you’ll think this is still too big) 5300 sq feet, while going through all of my mother’s possessions (she passed in January 2023). I put your videos on to inspire me and encourage me and I can’t thank you (and Cas from clutterbug) enough. I am so excited to start my new life!! The moving van comes tomorrow to get the furniture. I am blessed that I have been able to move slowly- verrrry slowly over the past couple months- and therefore I can run a box or two over at a time. My rule is that I have to love it and I have to know where it’s going to live. I am an artist so my home will not be as peaceful and perfect as yours looked, but it WILL be pared down. I’m estimating I’m leaving 60-70% of the STUFF here behind. And it feels GREAT!! Thank you, Dawn and god bless you and your family 🩷❤️🩷
Looks nice! I started "cleaning out" back in 2011 after my dad died. I don't want my family to have to "clean out" our stuff... in the meantime, cleaning out & clearing the decks gave me a goal & an ongoing commitment. Recently achieved that goal!! 13 years later, I'm very glad my house is MUCH EASIER to maintain!! And, I no longer feel guilty having a cup of coffee while watching the birds at our feeder!! ♡
Your wording in the first sentence could have been written by me. My parents turned into hoarders in their latter years. My dad passed first in a wreck and he had so much stuff crammed in his bedroom! (My parents had separate rooms in their old age) I couldn’t believe all of that stuff would fit! That didn’t count all of his junk in the basement. Most of it had to be trashed as there was mold and mildew bad from the flooding every time it rained. My husband and son hauled so much to dump one day they told them to not bring anymore that day! After Mama passed, it was a mess. So I decided I don’t want anyone to have to go thru so much mess when I die. It’s no fun.
I love my minimalist home! It is so freeing!! And It is so peaceful here. When we moved last year, it was alot easier than if we had alot of stuff… My new house is easy to clean and maintain. It is only 1500 square feet. My adult daughters tease me, all in fun, that I am a minimalist. But I laugh with them and own it!! It is a great way of life! Take care🦋💗
I’ve watched my anxiety dwindle over the past year, and I too attribute a lot of it to minimalism and simplifying our life! I brought a small box to our local donation center today and thought to myself how far I have come since dropping off carloads at a time. Now it’s just maintenance and I’m so thankful. ❤
Actually even the processing of decluttering on one's own is stressful. So I got help from a friend and that changed the dynamic and made it quite an enjoyable experience. Now, looking at my minimalist home gives me such a good feeling. My decluttering process began in 2017, and it is a continuous process. Thank you for a great video and thanks for letting us see your beautiful home.
I've been living minimally for about 7 years and love it. Recently someone new come to my house and was amazed at how tidy it is with children. The key, low inventory and storage for what we do have. It's calm, peaceful, homely and welcoming. Thank you for your ideas along the way, you have been an inspiration.
I had a few friends over for the first time recently, and they all commented about how clean our home is. I told them, it’s really not clean it’s just tidy! I felt great when they left knowing I didn’t have to be embarrassed to have people over.
Overwhelmed with laundry today. How are the kids drawers full, dirty hamper full and 2 loads of their clean clothes to put away?? Grandma, that's how :) I keep pausing the video to get rid of more clothes. This video just helped me lessen the clothes inventory to almost half. More to go. Thank you Dawn ❤
You can do it!! I just had to buy my daughter a new wardrobe because I’ve stopped getting her SOOO much that now that the season has changed she literally has ZERO to wear. But she grows so fast (and wears a school uniform during the week) I decided this time I’m doing a “capsule wardrobe” for her. 2 short sleeve shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 sweaters and 1 hoodie. 1 dress and 4 pairs of pants (one of which are comfy sweats). They all go together. I bought a size too large this time, in hopes it will get her through to spring/summer. I can’t tell you the absolute calm and comfort it gives me to see her closet. So many exciting outfits to build, but not overflowing or overwhelming at all. Now… to do MY closet! ❤❤❤
I will preface to say we homeschool so don't go somewhere every day. My children wear the same thing M&T and W&Th and F&Sat (unless it's filthy of course). So with that, they really only need 6 tops and 6 bottoms, plus 2 church outfits. Plus the basic necessities (undies, tank tops, socks), 2 pair of pj's and a hoodie. This cuts down on the amount of laundry we have. I could wash all 4 of my children's clothes in 1 load!
@@jennylhenry78I keep saying I’m doing that but somehow they still end up with too many clothes! My 11 year told me today she had too many. We are between seasons here. Nights and early mornings are cold 30s and 40s and afternoons are hot high 60s to 80. So I had her pick out three shorts and matching short sleeved shirts and two extra short sleeved shirts for long pants. She still has too many clothes even after getting rid of the extras. But I think she has some dresses I can get rid of as soon we get into a true winter. Or at least permanent cooler weather. Shes getting taller so things are getting too short.
I love minimal houses. It doesn’t look weird at all. I love looking at houses for sale online just to see the pictures and the most visually pleasing ones are the ones that have no belongings in them. The 2nd most visually pleasing ones are the ones that just have the basic furniture and everything else hidden away.
I have been trying for over a year to declutter my home. I’ve made a lot of progress but still have a ways to go. Just donated a car load earlier today. Thank you for your videos. They really are helpful!
My husband and I booked our 1700sqft home before having kids. With now 2 young kids, we decided this will be our home for the foreseeable future - with no plans to move. I have loved watching your videos to help my minimize our home, and make it easier to manage with two little ones! It's so easy to get sucked into this mindset of needing a huge home when that's all we are exposed to on social media! I'm grateful for people like you who share the minimal life!
We have three kids in 1900sf- moved from 3600sf half of which we never used ! Just furnished and cleaned. Smaller suits us much better. Now when my grown kids buy homes they’ll have a more realistic understanding of normal.
Thank you! I love your home. It seems perfect for you and your family. You are right - it is “minimalistic” AND warm n cozy, imo. Been watching your channel for years and am grateful!
We have also simplified. Retired this year and this has made such a difference. We love how streamlined our home is. A new benefit, we have changed our home personal insurance do to there is not that much to replace. Saving us $104 a year. We went thru each room and figure out what would we really replace. To be truthful no much. LOL
Dawn, your home is beautiful. I love how clean and open it is. No clutter. Tranquil. And those windows are lovely bringing in a lot of natural light. I like the pillows you put on your two chairs in the bedroom. Beautiful touches throughout your home.
Great video as always. I am 30 and still currently live at home with my parents. Our house is about 1100 sq ft, 2 bedrooms 1 bath. We have two storage buildings, one a smaller metal building and one a larger wooden cabin style building. They are both packed full of stuff from when we had moved six years ago. They also got more full because of things we had kept from my grandparents house. I am interested in the family history so I have the majority of the family pictures and old letters, cards, bibles, papers etc that my grandparents had saved. Yesterday I did fairly well though. I was looking through some boxes of Christmas things that my grandmother had kept and realized that there were only some things that were special, so we got rid of about 4 boxes of Christmas things, Toy's that I had kept and some other things. I will probably get rid of more. Since our house is smaller we are going to have to buckle down and get rid of the clutter. My Mom saved a lot of her mother's things, and even saved a lot of my Dad's mom's kitchen utensils and things. So we are going to have to go through things and declutter because we have no room. Thank you again for all of your videos. They bring so much inspiration to people!!!
Thank you!! You (and Dana) were the first TH-camrs I watched about decluttering and in my first round of decluttering I got rid of 50-60% of my stuff (took me 10 weeks). I then moved into my forever home and got rid of another 20%. You have continued to be an inspiration to me through the years and I never stop learning from you! Clothes and books were the hardest and I’ve reduce both by 50% each! I’m ready to go through my home once again and I know I will have more to declutter. Thanks again!
I had dirty stair risers too. I put peel and stick wallpaper on them, with a light, fresh print that camouflages the marks. And if they do ever become visible, the wall paper can easily be wiped down. Hope that helps.
No one walking into my home would think I am a minimalist either. They would just think I am very tidy. And in actuality, my home is neat because I am a minimalist :) I don't have to do tons of cleaning - I just don't have lots of extra stuff around so it is so easy to keep it nice :) The benefits of living simply as a "cozy minimalist" are awesome :)
Your home is my exact preferred level of stuff in cabinets and furniture to space left over I feel comfortable with. My preference would just be to add more meaningful art on some walls and a different decor style for the furniture but for your style this home and decor is GORGEOUS. It looks so cozy, clean, and clear
What I’ve learned by watching your videos is that declutterring doesn’t happen overnight. I agree that too much stuff adds to our stress. Since I retired in May I’ve been declutterring and organizing. I know at some point I’ll have to redo certain areas because I need to declutter some things in layers. What I mean is that I just can’t get rid of 70% of my wardrobe at once. First it’s too overwhelming to do it all at once and it is easier to go back to smaller amounts each time I do it. I probably won’t ever be a minimalist like you but I know there’s a lot that I can do without.
I have decluttered so much and I do love how clean my house feels. I will say, I have visited several houses over the holidays and their houses are so beautifully decorated for Christmas. I have so little Christmas decor, that I kinda felt like I needed to apologize when we had a family over for dinner. 😂 I do miss going all out for Christmas, but I have gotten it down to 2 bins and one is mostly ornaments/tree skirt/topper. I just don’t have the space to store anymore than what I have. My kids don’t seem to mind. They were still excited to decorate when I brought out the bins of stuff that I do still have.
Dawn, you are so motivating! I have been on a minimalist journey for the past few years and we continue to downsize so that makes it easy but then I have a couple favorite TH-camrs that talk about all the new holiday decor, etc and I just want to go buy it then I click over and watch minimalist videos and that takes care of it. I don’t need that extra stuff!!
Dawn your home is so clean and refreshing. I have been watching you for over a year now and you have inspired me so much. Thank you for all of your great ideas. I look forward to seeing you each week!!!
This inspires me! I love your house so much, from the decor to the tidiness. In the process of simplifying my 1900 square foot home and have always thought we needed a bigger house. Not anymore! Thank you Dawn!
Dawn, you speak of the confidence boost that decluttering has given you and I want to say it is the gift that keeps giving. When that in turn inspires others to tap into their own boosted confidence, it becomes such a force for tangible good. I have long since crossed that divide from feeling like "I can't" to KNOWING that "I can" and it makes so much more room for love and goodwill. The best thing I learned is that I don't even have to do decluttering perfectly, the same good news ensues just from starting small and letting in the good feelings of achievement by inches - progress, not perfection - and it is really amazing how much it colors my outlook. I smile more, and look for ways to brighten someone else's day as my own day has brightened. Thank you for being such a champion of showing time and again how decluttering can let in the love.
Showed this video to my husband. I'm so grateful he and I are on the same page with decluttering. As for your video, it was helpful to see a clean and tidy home, and see that you had "stuff", it was just so low-inventory that you could put everything away. Every room was tidy. There was no "hiding" of the "stuff. We are on the journey. Thank you for helping us, Dawn!
I wish I would have counted the items, but they are all in trash bags ready to go out to the cans. This afternoon, in about 2-ish hours, we decluttered between 75 and 100 individual items from our already decluttered kitchen. I decluttered months ago, and we had an "ah-ha" moment recently about much of our kitchen stuff. We really use much fewer items than we actually have.
When someone walks into a hotel do they think, “this feels bare and is not comfortable or cozy. I don’t like the way it feels. “ No, it’s the opposite. It is an incredibly ABUNDANT LUXURIOUS space that is FREEING and fosters CREATIVITY of all kinds, including problem-solving.
I agree with you! Except that I just spent last week in hotels, and I do have to say, an empty and calm room with one window that is painted shades of medium and dark grey actually does feel spare and oppressive to me rather than luxurious. Now I know you can wreck the calm with the HGTV pallette. Much prefer Dawn's blues and pinks.
As I watched your home tour all I could think was ‘THIS is exactly how I want my home to feel.’ Have started the process and can’t wait till keep going! You’re so relatable and that is a huge part of what makes your content so motivating! ❤
I'm not a minimalist, but I think I'm minimal-ish. I've decluttered about 80% of my stuff and my place is so much easier to keep up now. I think your place looks great and it's about what I'm striving for as I keep decluttering. Some of your ideas over the last few years really helped me. One small thing that really set me free was reducing linens. We have two towels per person plus 4 extra for guests as our place is small and I will never likely have more than 2 people here as guests overnight. Being able to throw ALL of our towels into one load of laundry is a game changer.
I am not a minimalist either nor I want to be one. I am actually a Maximalist. I am just organizing my house to be more efficient while getting rid of stuff that is not needed or wanted any longer. You can be at a happy medium too.
@vaderladyl absolutely agree. I have things that are just for decoration, but they mean something to me. I had been bordering on hoarding before so I really needed to go through and let go of a lot. I also had to downsize from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Stuff had to go so I could fit comfortably in my place.
Your home is beautiful my mom always said if a person comes to your home they should come to see you not what you have. Everyone lives differently . There's a difference between clutter and hoarding, clutter can get out of control and can be remedied by getting rid of the unnecessary things and put the things you use away in " their homes" but hoarders have a sickness
You are one of my favorite people on all of TH-cam! Your personality is extraordinary, and you KEEP transforming lives every week! Keep going! Thank you, dearly!!!
Love your house! Very well planned. Just the right size. I love the layout. Planned for efficiency and simple living. Your master bedroom is my favorite. I love the corner windows and the entrance door from outside. That is so cool. I figured right away when you went in there that it must have been a living room or family room at one time. It's a little out of the way, but I would make a little outdoor breakfast nook outside that door. Your colors are so relaxing and calming. If I were to build a home, I would very seriously think about patterning it after yours.
Iv been watching you for 2 years and keep learning and decluttering. Im so amazed how much LESS I have to clean I have no flat surfaces, except kitchen, so no real dusting and really just cleaning floors❤
I am organizing my closet as we speak. I have lived with little for years and living in a small space and living with less requires lots of organization. It doesn’t mean I’m a minimalist I just don’t need much. I enjoy my life more, but I do love a good quality handbag. 😊
I found you 2.5 years ago and have never looked back. I started my decluttering journey with a newborn and a 16 month old and the payoff has been incredible. 😊 Thank you for sharing this message! I continue to watch your videos to remind myself why it’s so important to protect the peace in my home as my kids get older. Thank you Dawn! ❤
Your home is beautiful and I'm so grateful I found you. It's been a process but already I can say you've truly changed my life. Thank you for what you do! ❤
Dawn, it doesn't seem to matter what your video is on. Each one brightens my day and you've given me so much inspiration on making my space better. Our house is about 450 square feet and decluttering has been essential on my journey of making it our home. Thank you for unknowingly being my buddy the past few years!
This is a G-R-E-A-T VIDEO ! !👍🏻 Beside's the De-Cluttering and Organizing, Having the "RIGHT" Floor-Plan Does Make " A-L-O-T " of Difference in the FUNCTION of a H🏡ME. NOT the SIZE of it. Your House IS Truly One that is a FUNCTIONAL Home. Each of the Room's Do Have a PURPOSE !!
I’ve been watching your videos for years and one of the biggest lines that I always remember is “you won’t miss it “ I try to remind myself of this when I’m trying to decide on an item. “Once it’s gone you’ll never think of it again”
Your videos have helped me so much as I have been decluttering. The thing that has helped me the most is when you said in one of your videos “don’t be afraid to throw things away it will all end up in a landfill eventually anyway”. Today I was struggling over whether to throw an item away and I said ,Dawn said I can throw it away and in the trash it went.😁
I have a smaller house as well, and since decluttering- my house feels MORE welcoming, more peaceful, more inviting! It doesn’t feel empty at all- it’s just no longer cluttered❤❤❤ I’m so thankful I found you Years ago- you’ve helped me with SO MUCH!!!
I LOVE your home! ❤ While watching I remembered a time where I started to cry, when one of my 3 kids searched for something important (schoolstuff, shoes, etc), because I new it could take days to find it. Now, the messy middle is near the end and life finally not a struggle anymore. Thank you so much! ❤
So fun to see your home now. I have been following you for several years. I remember when you came up with the blanket ladder. And how unsure you were about spending “so much” on those bedroom chairs. More recently the excitement over the spice storage. Love you and Dianna. You’ve become friends.
You have a lovely home dawn. I like all your sofa pillows. That is your one thing I noticed you like to change up. I think it is neat to have something you can do that with.
I have been watching you for years, and very very slowly we have been decluttering. I've done what you said about working on my stuff first because my husband struggles to let stuff go (one of my kids too). Sometimes i think there's nothing new you can share with me, but even if that were true (so far it's not because I'm still learning even years later), watching your videos is a constant reminder to keep going. Even tonight I was watching while washing the dishes and I realized the clutter has built up in our main living space. We just got a new puppy within the month. We have 3 family birthdays this month so new items are coming in that we don't have established homes for and your video reminded me that my level of stress is probably from the new clutter. I did a refresh in the kitchen and dining room and even though I'm not done I could breathe much easier. Thank you so much for continuing to make content!
Today, my "fall cleaning" project was to clean & organize my half bath/laundry (there's no separation between mine - it's all one room!), and also, my mudroom closet shelves (the part where we hang our coats is fine as is the floor. But the shelves! Oh my! I decluttered/threw out so much stuff (and rehomed a sizable box to the garage! That way, I could store ALL of my cleaning products in one spot! My laundry room doesn't look so cluttered! It feels so good for me to check to projects off my "to do" list!
I desire to live with less stuff. Areas I find challenging are : Canning and small kitchen appliances (i do so much food preservation and that takes a lit of room also crock pot, blender...) Crafting (I have a lot of crafts supplies) Hand me downs between kids. Oh and I forgot my crazy amount of books!!! Besides those areas I'm great LOL
Any thoughts of giving the kids the two big bedrooms on the main floor and the you and Tom convert upstairs to a master suite? This way as the kids continue to get taller they have more room and you and Tom have a space of your own.
Oh. My. Goodness thank you Dawn. I always been curious about the layout of your home. 😊. It looks so cozy, colorful and at peace that I started watching for this reason. But what you shared from other people and yours words are such a blessing that I forgot about paying attention to the layout. Lol. Thank you again. May God continue to bless you and all your family.
I’ve watched you long enough that I feel I know your house inside and out 😂 but it was nice to see a full tour again. We usually see just you in your home but I imagine when there are 6 people in there, it doesn’t feel in the least bit “empty”. Four kids and a husband can really fill a space and you have room for them! 😊
Hearing you speak gives me the spark to jump up to give myself those five valuable minutes of decluttering!! Love all your encouragement to continue this journey!!🤗

I absolutely love ur home. It truly is my inspiration. I love ur style! Iam a super fan! I'm so thankful u have started ur channel. It is so rewarding for me to watch/listen to u. I appreciate another Christian, homeschooling mother to relate to. Ur advice has helped me and my family so much!❤
Dawn are you still microblading your eyebrows?
Thank you, I really appreciate this!!
I love too that she doesn't live in a "mansion"....and she is so encouraging ❤️
Different people have different desires. Maybe 3000 sq ft is needful for a large family or family gatherings. Don’t limit others with your choke point.
Follow the less known, smart TH-camrs. They all have normal, regular sized houses and their own personal style and values are different from all those mainstream, famous ones.
@@singerjo5791 I'm not limiting anyone's choices. Just maybe bringing attention to need vs want. If someone chooses to work towards more material goals, that's their decision to do so. I just find it off putting and unrealistic for most of us.
My neighbor thought we had been robbed, biggest complement ever.
😂
Definitely a huge compliment!
Hahaha!! That sure would've sped up the decluttering process! 😂
😂
HAHHAHAHHAA love it
I honestly don't understand why anyone would find this weird???
It's tidy, organised, calm and relaxing. It's lovely! I strive for this:)
I agree. It doesn't look cold and bare but really cosy and inviting x
Calm and relaxing. That’s my goal
The blues, greens, botanicals/flowers and rustic wood adds lots of personality without feeling jumbled
I love the fact that clearing stuff clears the mind and soul.
I agree with you 😊
I totally agree.
It's a wonderful feeling! everytime I do a small step ahead, I feel such a relief ❤
Does it really make you feel better? Like less anxiety or "lighter"?
@@sunnymeadow575 both😊
I love how you use color to make your house homey and cozy instead of a lot of stuff. If everything was totally neutral, I don't think it would look nearly as welcoming
Yes! Plus the tasteful art and touches of decor
I totally agree! If everything was white, or one color it would look so much more minimalist.
You know, I was just noticing this today for the first time!
That’s a spot on observation!
She’s pretty talented in her decorating choices.
As someone from the UK it is crazy to me that you call this home small. It's pretty big compared to a lot of homes here. I love your house!
Totally agreed. It’s beautiful & clutter free house & still gives me inspiration. But size & space is rather big compared to houses in UK & EU countries.
I'm in Ireland and your house is very large by dublin standards
As an Italian I agree... It's quite big, a 4 bedroom single family house with that land around it is for rich people :D
As a German I think it's not big for 6 people. We live in a slightly smaller apartment as a family of 8, but normal people with 4 kids would have at least a house this size. Ok, normal people in Germany don't have 4 kids...
Exactly... in the Netherlands we would call this a big house as well 🏠
Having hoarder tendencies, I can remember going to a friends home yrs ago, not knowing or understanding what minimalist was, my anxiety went through the roof because i’m thinking ‘Where is all their stuff, it looks like I’m sitting in a motel’
NOW with learning it’s ok to let go and having less is best, my home is having less and less each week and I’m loving it.
In all honesty I never believed I would be ok to get rid of things and really look at what I’m bringing into my home.
I will always struggle with hoarding tendencies but I’m in my 60’s and you truely can teach an old dog new tricks.
Love this!!!
So happy for you ! 🎉glenda
🙏💕🌺
That’s awesome! you can say that you lost 2000lbs of (mental) weight.
Love you!
❤❤❤
What a lovely compliment!
Yes same! Like hanging out with a loving inspiring friend
According to Dutch standards this is absolutely not a small house! It's nice, inviting and cozy, love it!
I'm in Ireland and agree. Maybe it's small by USA standards
@@lauramurphy5104 I'm Italian, so I'm used to small houses, but I moved to the US and right now, where I live, cost of living is so high that a house like that with that land would cost well above 1 million $$, and it's not small. It's very much normal, just not huge
This is large home going by uk standards
I would say you have no idea how much you are changing peoples lives but you already know because it changed yours. Thank you for sharing the tools for so many to unbury themselves from the clutter and wordly expectations. You are appreciated more than you know. xoxoxo
Dawn, you just made feel normal! THIS is a real tour of a real home. IT felt like I was walking into your space along side you. You have a beautiful well organized home. Many continued blessings for all that you do and how you inspire us.
Yes, her home is welcoming and not overwhelming. 🌺
@@josie4peace Exactly! It reflects her welcoming and real character 🤗
I’ve been following you now for 4 years and your videos inspire me to live more simply!! You had your aha moment through Joshua Becker….. my aha moment was when you told me …. “You have too much inventory!!” This will always resonate with me. Thank you Dawn & family!
Thank you so much Helen, this means more than you know!!!!
Me too! So much easier.
I want to remove my rug, but I discovered having a rug helps keep my grout much cleaner…so for now I keep the rugs.
@@SweetSourMisshaha so the grout is clean because the dirty is on the mat instead 😊
i never understood the rug in the kitchen trend, to be honest....
Easy
9:33 “so excited to have you over” gosh Dawn that just felt like a hug ❤❤❤ xoxo
When we moved last year, it was alot easier than if we had alot of stuff…
My new house is easy to clean and maintain.
It is only 1500 square feet.
My adult daughters tease me, all in fun, that I am a minimalist.
But I laugh with them and own it!!
It is a great way of life!
Take care🦋💗
Looks peaceful and clean!
Your house is beautiful Dawn! It looks HUGE because there isn't clutter everywhere. You are such an inspiration.
Same here. My donation drop offs are getting smaller and smaller. I have some stuff I need to take tomorrow.
Minimizing is a great way to protect your peace. I've noticed similar effects too.
That’s great! So nice
I had a few friends over for the first time recently, and they all commented about how clean our home is. I told them, it’s really not clean it’s just tidy! I felt great when they left knowing I didn’t have to be embarrassed to have people over.
Never ever say it's not clean. Just say THANK YOU!!!
My first impression is that the house is very clean and tidy.
I love minimal houses. It doesn’t look weird at all. I love looking at houses for sale online just to see the pictures and the most visually pleasing ones are the ones that have no belongings in them.
The 2nd most visually pleasing ones are the ones that just have the basic furniture and everything else hidden away.
I want to be a minimalist but I am a crafter. I am a quilter, a garment maker, paper crafter, jewelry maker and I have SO MUCH craft stuff.
same here, and no guilt whatsoever 👍🏼. All the sewing/quilting items are well organized and neat.
uilts Same. I have what I need but have yet to actually finish a quilt.
I love your house, small but cozy and clean look without unnecessary home decor! I really love it!
I'm so happy for you! And seriously what a good way to save money vs. getting a bigger house!
Wow, Dawn, you are a real example! I like that you have made your home functional (as in, working for you) and pleasantly comfy.
Dawn, I love your home! Beautiful! ❤ It’s the perfect size to maintain clutter free spaces. 👌 😊
Your house is SO beautiful! I can feel the calm from here. Thank you so much for sharing this great tour! ❤
When someone walks into a hotel do they think, “this feels bare and is not comfortable or cozy. I don’t like the way it feels. “
No, it’s the opposite.
This is a ridiculous comparison. A home should not fee like a hotel - devoid of all warmth or human personality
Same here it's so freeing
Your kids are blessed to live in such a clean home
I love that you still live in your house despite your growing fame. Love it. I love your home!
You are one of my favorite people on all of TH-cam! Your personality is extraordinary, and you KEEP transforming lives every week! Keep going! Thank you, dearly!!!
Wow, thank you, that means more than you know!
Im so amazed how much LESS I have to clean
I have no flat surfaces, except kitchen, so no real dusting and really just cleaning floors❤
I am organizing my closet as we speak. I have lived with little for years and living in a small space and living with less requires lots of organization. It doesn’t mean I’m a minimalist I just don’t need much. I enjoy my life more, but I do love a good quality handbag. 😊
You don't have a minimal aesthetic but a minimal mindset 😊 your house has things for decoration and lots of colour 😊😊 beautiful!!
I love how the chairs are colour coordinated to “disappear” visually, adding to the minimalist feel
IDK why anyone would think this feels weird - that looks so refreshing
I love how the ground is right outside your windows. Kind of adds a feeling of extra space as well as being settled
I am SOOO glad I found your channel. I have been trying for SO long to purge all the junk in my home. It's so overwhelming!
Keep going and celebrate your wins. Any effort makes a difference
Your home is so beautiful! I love the natural light! I bet you can clean it in no time!
Actually I come to watch because it's you Dawn and more often then not you have a wise piece of advice that betters my life thank you!❤ Mom of seven
That means more than you know, thank you!!!!!!
☺️
I’ve been watching your videos for years and one of the biggest lines that I always remember is “you won’t miss it “ I try to remind myself of this when I’m trying to decide on an item. “Once it’s gone you’ll never think of it again”
Your videos have helped me so much as I have been decluttering. The thing that has helped me the most is when you said in one of your videos “don’t be afraid to throw things away it will all end up in a landfill eventually anyway”. Today I was struggling over whether to throw an item away and I said ,Dawn said I can throw it away and in the trash it went.😁
You are such an encouragement. Thank You for being you and doing what you are do.
Family of soon to be 7 here and we are in the process of moving.
Your videos help me so much! Thankyou ❤
That’s awesome. It’s such a great thing to have a home with peaceful surroundings
It's not weird at all. When I watch this tour, it gives me a sense of calm! You are an inspiration!
Justin Case is by far the best video that helped me...Justin Case doesn't live here!
I'm breaking up with that guy
@@jennifermarie8707 cracking up!
Tom shone in this one. ❤
Thanks Dawn for this video of your beautiful home. I love it when you do a house tour.
I love your home. It's minimal but not bare. It feel peaceful and cozy. ❤
Most ppl don't want to climb stairs as they older. Easier for children.
Oh.
Thanks for all your great advice Dawn, it has made a big difference to the way I manage my home with 3 small kids! :)
Your home is beautiful! I love your colors. It's all very lovely.
Hearing you speak gives me the spark to jump up to give myself those five valuable minutes of decluttering!! Love all your encouragement to continue this journey!!🤗
Beautiful!! I love your house!! Your advice has helped me so much over the past few years!!
