    I have the Kamprite Oversized tent cot. I love it. I use it during deer camp & cover it with a tarp. Much more comfortable then sleeping on the ground. Only drawback might be someone who is closterphobic. It’s a bit like sleeping in a coffin, a comfortable coffin lol.

      How do you overcome the excess heat when overnight temps are above 65 F or the excess interior condensation when overnight temps are below 55 F?

  • @juleebishop5735
    @juleebishop5735 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have standard and oversize Kamp Rite tent cots. They are both excellent. The oversize is nicer for the space, but they are awesome for camping. Obviously, as they say, they are not for backpacking. Their prices vary as to who is selling them. They don't leak either. If you are concerned about wind, they do very well, but if you are worried about, stake it or tie it down.

    I'm 60 years old and I own the Oversized Tent Cot and it is my preferred camping set up. It is very comfortable with the addition of a 1 inch air mattress and getting in and out is easy on my knees. It is much quicker and easier than an conventional tent to pitch and take down. As with any tent cot your not going to change your cloths very easily. As for the recliner feature, I wish they had just left that part out. It only gets in the way.

    • @ccscomments757
      @ccscomments757 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly agree with you. But how do you overcome the excess heat when overnight temps are above 65 F or the excess interior condensation when overnight temps are below 55 F? Both of these situations are deal breakers for me.

      @@ccscomments757 It doesn't have windows for cross ventilation?

    • @ccscomments757
      @ccscomments757 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinbreese5739 Do you find them adequate? I don't. Nor are they well placed to remove the heat(and you will need to spend time outside to roll them up..or at least spend time letting in flies when rolling them up from the inside). Nope, you really need that uppermost space above the door/windows and to the peak of the "ceiling" to have a peak vent.

    These are amazingly warm, holding in heat very well. But I do highly recommend a good thick, comfortable pad for bed frame….

    • @ccscomments757
      @ccscomments757 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add a pad or mattress because the amount of condensation that dribbles down the walls overnight and gathers, is enough to soak a sleeping bag.

    KampRite is a GREAT option. If you want to have room for gear and your dog (or 2 people) their "double" is a great option too. High quality, rain, shine, wind, whatever.

    #1 The Kamp-Rite Oversize Tent Cot is STILL a condensation hell. Needs more ventilation at the peak of the ceiling. Doors are absolutely backwards (mesh should be on the outside, fabric on the inside, zippers of the solid door/window panels should be such that you can vent the upper portion of the tent. Simply a terrible design. DO NOT BUY.

    • @paulhook1097
      @paulhook1097 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. I learned to keep the end window unzipped and voila... no condensation. Rain, snow, wind... it functions perfect. I put a tarp between 2 trees to have cover for cooking area, bumbarrel fire and lounge chair. KampRite is Great.

    • @mwatts-riley2688
      @mwatts-riley2688 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They weigh about 40 pd. The midrange single is 200$ mid range double is 350$ the cheap ones are awful since the seams rip and they are incredibly thin THIN Take the time. Invest get the mid range or higher. Also I strongly suggest getting the rain fly. I live in the mid west. You'll like and USE the rain fly. M. Illinois.

      Prices can become outdated fast which is why reviews often don't include them. I think a good middle ground would be for ALL reviewers to identify the time the video was made and the prices at that time. However they did say the very beginning for up-to-date prices check the links.

    Neat? Absolutely. Functional (or even comparable)? Nope. From serious weight-limitations on most models, to legs that sink in the ground (without pads or blocks) to prohibitive weights (unless you are 'car camping')...they just don't have a 'niche spot' to occupy, versus traditional campers or tents. Price is also quite-prohibitive by comparison. You want a 'backpack tent', this isn't it. You plan on camping by your car, then a conventional tent is better (and cheaper), and if you have a pickup, then you have all the options a car does, PLUS the idea of a 'truck cap camper' that is almost 'RV' in quality and safety, compared to a tent (a definite 'best idea' in bear country!)
